He's also an exceptionally talented songwriter/bandleader/rapper with a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of American Rock and Rhythm and Blues music.
Lorenzo Cherubini's (AKA Jovanotti) 2-CD live effort, Autobiografia di Una Festa (Autobiography of a Party), is the recorded history of a rockin' concert. Backed up by a scorching hot rhythm section (complete with horns), Lorenzo delivers the goods for the paying customers in the house. Tho he sings in (mainly) Italian, English speakers will be charmed by the humor and energy in this live show. You don't need to be Italian to hear the influence that James Brown/Maceo Parker, Wilson Pickett, Steppenwolf, Steve Cropper, Led Zeppelin, and AWB (among others!!) have had on this talented artist and his band.
Lorenzo's talent lies in the fact that his music is based on a firm foundation of the "classics" in his genre.
Without a word of English (except for "OK", "yeah" and "Bless you, man!"), Lorenzo has shown himself to really be an "American" original. Bravo
