I think most musicians do a cover or two in their time. There is a lot of fabulous music out there, and so much of this can be interpreted by others. I love this album. I heard it when I was studying Spanish in Mazatlan, and I couldn't leave Mexico without it! He has a beautiful voice and the simplicity of the music represents something we miss out in American music.

Quisiera aconsejar a ustedes: No eschuchen la musica de Nicho comparativamente! Su voz es estupenda, fuerte y al mismo tiempo es calmante. De hecho, no puedo evitar la preferencia--su voz me recuerda de la de mi novio. Pues, es muy bien! Muy romantico es la musica de Nicho, y alguien que quiere ser romantico realmente necesita eschucharla. Se pueden tomar por "En el Bar" y vivir de esta musica!

En ingles: I would like to advise you: Don't listen to Nicho's music comparitively! In fact, I can't avoid the preference--his voice reminds me of my boyfriend's. But's it's wonderful! Nicho's music is very romantic, and anyone who wants to be romantic really needs to hear it. You can be drawn in by "En el Bar" and live on this music!

Este album tiene lo mejor de las mejores, para el bohemio clasico que le gusta la verdadera musica del recuerdo....y de los mejores momentos, este es el album. El sonido "unplugged" le da un sentimiento a la guitarra que no se encuentra en otros albumes.

I guess you love him or hate him. I love him. Clear, beautiful, sensitive voice, simple but skillful guitar work. He is dedicated to whatever song he is singing, and doesn't add any useless embellishments. He reminds me a bit of Jacques Brel, but not quite as passionate.
He makes me want to learn Spanish so I can get even more attuned to his work.

Although most of his songs are from other artists, I do recommend his music. I love his seleccion of songs, and the way he sings them... I presently own all his albums, Nicho En el Bar 1, 2, 3, En Vivo, and Vivir como Antes... All excellent.

I have recently started listening to music in Spanish, and this is one or my favorite discs, the songs are really good, and some versions, like Santa Lucia are better than the other recording on his En El Bar disc.

Yes, its true this songs are not from him. But he sings it amazingly good and he has a beautiful voice, very charming and you cant stop listening his songs. Interesiting and entertaining.

      Dowland: Lachrimae or Seven Teares by John Dowland is sumblime in so many ways and listening to it is an awe inspiring experience. Dowland's composition is heavily influenced by Anthony Holborne and this is not a bad thing in itself since Holborne was and is considered a master mind when it comes to consort music.
      The essay in the book-let is very well written and the cover art is splendid. This is a grand album of awesome consort music that will be listened to for all time.
