About the Artist
Biography for Beth Schneider.

Singer, filmmaker, choreographer; Beth has garnered 11 international awards including three first places for her celebrated childrens film, "The Magic Within." Beth has performed in and choreographed over thirty productions , including such shows as Evita, West Side Story, Fiddler on The Roof and The Robber Bridegroom. Beth also performed six seasons with the ballet company Dance Alive!, the designated state touring company of Florida. Recently, Beth was vocal guest artist with Aeolian Ballet Theatre in a choreographed presentation of Olivier Messiaen's Poems Pour Mi. Additionally, her children¹s video "Dance With Us", is used in schools throughout the United States. Beth has studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse, ballet with Christine Nubert, Kira Guzakova, Kim Tuttle, Stephan Wenta and Jonette Swider, and voice with Irma Neverow, Mike Goodrich and Stephanie Vlahos. New Years 2000 marked the premiere performance of Beth as soloist with The Kama Ensemble, a medieval rock sextet that will be releasing their first CD under the new name Beth the Sybil. in January 2001.

Biography for Greg Harris.

By age 8 Greg was regularly performing a repertoire that included Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart. By 15 he shifted his focus to studies in 20th century composition, orchestral arrangements as well as piano performance. At 19 he wrote several string quartets for the Oxford Contemporary Music Festival before expanding into the rock arena. His first recorded compositions were with the group Systems of Romance on their CD "Dare To Dance." Greg played and composed several seasons with COMA, (California Outside Music Association,) as well as premiering "Skipping The Philosophers Stone", a concerto for rag piano, found objects and elfin choir. Greg has two CDs in release with his psychedelic rock quintet, Quercus; "Ode to Earthly Delights" and "Boondoggle." A backdrop to his lifelong musical endeavors has been his specialized focus on the fugues of J.S. Bach which he will be recording in their entirety. His teachers have included his grandfather, Dr. Harvey Harris, Wayne Behlendorf, Esther Lee Kaplan, Dr. Robert Turner, Cesare Pascarella and Don Neligan.

"Beth The Sybil" is a medieval rock sextet with a sound of music unlike anything you've heard. The creative core is Beth Schneider and Greg Harris. I find ancient melodies and texts which intrigue, fascinate, reveal something new, and somehow capture a transcendent chord in the human experience. Greg then composes 21st century rockin¹ arrangements based on these sources, which our other amazing band members add their creative inspiration to. What we come up with is a collection of out-of-this-world contemporary sacred songs and love songs inspired from sources all around the Mediterranean which celebrate the earth, the sacred feminine, and the cosmic origins and destiny of the human soul. I am the storyteller, the troubadour of ancient tradition. The sybil of Greek origins, half human and half nymph, could read the past and fortell the future and heal the human soul. Her character evolves and multiplies to become the ecstatic source of at least forty ancient Jewish, Christian and pagan sacred texts. Our music could be called new world music. All of our musicians have extensive musical backgrounds in classical as well as rock, jazz and ethnic styles. By looking back into our past for inspiration we have created a compelling modern sound of the future. Our CD instrumentation includes

vocals, piano/keyboards, electric violin, bazouki, drums/percussion, and double bass. "My King Nimrod" is our first CD.

A super budget 5 CD collection of all of Grainger's Piano music.
Every last note!
The shipping alone would be $17.00+ for the 5 individual Cds.
Englishman Martin Jones plays these as if he wrote them. He is thoroughly inside this music.
I think his best work to date.
He is joined on CD #5 by Richard Mcmahon and Phillip Martin. Where they rollick in various combos and trios on 1, 2 and 3 pianos. This is exhilerating. Especially on an truly uplifting version of Green Bushes.
The entire set is strongly idiomatic and given a clear, crisp, warm and spacious recording. FIRST CLASS sound.
There are too many highlights to single out, but the In A Nutshell Suite and Green Bushes are especially GOOD!
There is not a bad note or "vibe" on any of these CDs.
Highly recommended for Granger fans and fans of English Piano Music.
