Culture Man

About the Artist
Rahsul was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in a family of West Indian and Ethiopian dissent. He was raised around story telling, singing and deep cultural spirit. Rahsul started in high school as a vocalist with the group "Tune Tips" where he performed in an amateur competition at New York's Appollo Theatre. After winning four consecutive nights he was invited back for a week long performance.

Rahsul has gone on to perform with groups such as Milo and the Kings, Burning Spear and Bunny Wailer. He has performed at concerts throughout the US, Europe and Japan.

Product Description
Bammboo Records was started in 1999 by Horacio F. Socarras, a native of Cuba. Horacio has spent many years as a percussionist both in the studio and on tours. He was so impressed when he heard the music of Rahsul that he decided to start Bammboo Records to support his love of island music. "Culture Man" is the first release from Bammboo Records and certainly won't be their last.
