Understood in any language, across any time zone, Global Communication tolls for the human spirit which knows no boundaries. As one of the most significant releases to cross the ambient currents of the '90s, 76:14 places itself alongside benchmark electronic releases from Brian Eno, the Orb, and the Future Sound of London. These synth-dominated ventures allow the armchair traveler to indulge in atmospheric wanderings which suggest virtual galactic discovery. But often enough the textured beats keep things grounded to dissuade the listener from being lost in the void. Vocal samples from nine languages also remind us of the international and diplomatic intentions of this otherwise electro-instrumental album. Strap in and enjoy the liftoff for all mankind. --Lucas Hilber

A Jewel in the Pile.......2007-05-16
I must apologize. I had blinders on. I thought that Tangerine Dream, Biosphere, John Serrie, Robert Rich and Steve Roach were the only ambient kids on the block worth listening to. Wrong. Upon Amazon.com's "Customers who bought Biosphere also listened to:" recommendation, 76:14 popped up, and I thought yeah, yeah the usual guys trying to make it big. And then I gave it a listen with the sample tracks, and I thought, Wow! Just when I thought I had my ambient selections nailed down.
76:14 is a compilation by Dedicated that is nothing short of glorious. Smooth, flowing synthesized rhythm's peppered with deep, reverberating pings instill a wonderful sense of openness, of the vast expanses of space or a wide open field. This is just what I am looking for after a hard day, because it helps me to relax, daydream a little and inspire me while I write. There is a perfect mix of laid back, long segments not unlike Chuck Wild's "Liquid Mind" series (which I highly recommend, by the way: IV [Unity] and VI [Spirit]), followed by mellow but solid club mixes with tinges of hip-hop beats, then an excellent surge of sonic crescendos in major chord ranges of the middle octaves. The tracks on 76:14 are humbly named only by the length of their duration, hence Track One is "4:02," Track Two is "14:31" and so on up to Track Nine, "12:18". I consider this the single best ambient recording ever made, just for its brilliant variations and technical proficiency without "too many notes." This album just bumped Biosphere's "Substrata" (1997) and all my favorites by Steve Roach ("Dreamtime Return"; 1988) down another notch. Variety, quality and replayability are what set 76:14 apart, and make it a definite keeper. I just got a new anchor.
I suppose, since music like this is so hard to describe sometimes, that if you took the best work of the artists I previously mentioned, you'd have this album. It sounds so much like Tangerine Dream's older work, yet not too much, blended very nicely with a little Biosphere, Steve Roach and a twist of Kevin Braheny, with a dash of Robert Rich and a tinge of Patrick O'Hearn. I could definitely hear a little Klaus Schulze in the mix. But to say that 76:14 is a copycat album is just off the mark. This great ambient recording truly makes me feel that I am in the 21st century, and not stuck in the same commercial tinkly-winkly crankings-out of the 1980's. Nice. Very nice.
Did they remake Risky Business?.......2006-05-30
It's interesting to me that Tangerine Dream and song 8:07 were mentioned in an earlier review because when I first heard 8:07/5:23, I thought they were tracks from Risky Business that I had not yet heard or remixes of ones that I had.
Having said that, this is still a pretty good CD. I've always liked 14:31 and 4:14.
Ambient Stand Out.......2006-04-09
This album makes it to the top of my ambient music collection. It even replaces Ishq "Orchid" which held the #1 position since August 2004. If you are looking for an instrumental ambient CD that you can relax to or take a mental journey with, this is the one. I sometimes put the headphones on at work to block out the co-workers and listen or pop it in the CD player on the way home to unwind.
My favorite tracks are 14:31, 9:39, and 12:18. The liner notes reveal that the band didn't want to bias your listening experience by naming the tracks. Definitely a sentiment I agree with.
Several Imitated Styles.......2006-04-07
Brian Eno, the undisputed father of Ambient music described it this way, "Ambient Music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting." Global Communication has certainly produced some music that incorporates the style of Ambient music on several tracks. The missing element is interest. GC has taken some subtle melodies and looped them with a few electronic flourishes tossed in here & there that were probably intended to cause some interest but just sound like gimmicks. The other tracks that incorporate beats are obviously not Ambient but pure Electronica with a strong Tangerine Dream influence. Here again GC falls way short of the mark. In the track 8:07 the synth pattern is generated early on and continues with almost no interesting change. Where Tangerine Dream would have built on that pattern and expanded to some kind of melody, GC drops in maybe 3 notes & repeats them over and over. Not only isn't it interesting, it borders on tortuous. I'm not going to give a list of all the people that have done this much better. Do your own research. If you're content with believing that this is great music in this genre then it's your loss.
Sits on the top of my "Able to Listen to Anytime" list!.......2006-03-09
This is the type of CD you can kick back and listen to and just let your thoughts go. I love what GC puts together as the "Mark and Tom show," and the sounds they create are just mesmorizing! Next to PM, this CD is at the very top! One hell of a mix!! Thanks guys....

Glorious, as always.......2001-05-21
Global Com really has a thing all their own. It's really too bad that some candy flip rave kid accidentally bought it hoping for it to be some contrived, played out "lords of acid" type cheese. It is very deep music. It is music that may cause you to think, so if you are not given to contemplation... Actually buy it anyway. Its great.
Guts and Glory.......2001-01-06
Hats off to the creators of this album. I had it for a while, after a friend gave it to me, fell in love with it, lost it somehow and am buying it again. It defies classification as all lasting original music does. It talks a bit of time to get into some tracks but it's so worth it. The making of this took guts and it's glorious.
Oh Yes, this cd is a must!.......2000-11-12
Any of you who appreciate good ELECTRONIC music, not just "rave" music will love this album. Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton do a great job mixing up their different guises by putting up all kinds of weird snippets and noises from their Reload, Global Communications and Link projects. Great production and even better imagination make this cd a great listen no matter what mood you're in. Some dope on amazon gave this one star, claiming it was terrible 'rave' music. Whoever said it was supposed to be rave music?? And more importantly, why the hell would it WANT to be rave music??? For idiots who enjoy crap music such as Lords Of Acid shouldn't bother with a fine piece of music such as Theory Of Evolution. Only people who have taste need apply here.
You call this "Dance Music?" Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeze........1999-06-16
When I listened to this cd, I just laughed. If you want real dance music I recomend everybody to get "Lords Of Acid" (All of their cd's are very good) or "Happy Rave '95" Please everyone, don't waste your money on this cd. This cd is a disgrace. An absolute insult to techno, dance or any type of rave music. It's no wonder why their weren't that many people who bought this cd. And to all of you that did, get some help.

Nice massage music. .......2007-06-09
I own a day spa and my therapists all enjoy this music. It is great for relaxation.
The Best of Ambient Music.......2005-10-22
This is the sort of rare CD that you can turn on, set "repeat CD" and not touch it for the day; or even for days! I have had this CD for many, many years... and it has never lost its appeal. PS: This is NOT "upbeat" jazzy ambient; but, mellow "calm you down" ambient. Each track is unique.
Lydia.......2005-05-21
Most of the tracks on this album are very good, but Lydia by Tim Story is special. It is one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music I have ever come across.
A tapestry of earth and music..........2002-09-06
This is a marvelously moving album to experience. While all the artists are different the album flows together very nicely. It moves along at its own pace, far far different than the pace of much of the everyday world in which we live. It is mellow and is not something you actively listen to although over time the melodies become quite clear and, oddly enough, captivating even exciting, though on a different level.
Play it in the background or play it in the car and suddenly an entirely different ambience is created. It's a beautiful work. I never tire of it and it embraces whatever mood I'm in and allows it to unfold in a rhythm all its own. You won't regret it a bit.
Path for yoga, for relaxation.......2000-10-16
As a Yoga instructor and artist I am constantly seaching for that special flow- that music that you consciously hear as you begin yoga or meditation, but has the ability to disappear into the recesses of your mind as your awareness attunes to a different level. Path invokes relaxation. It is fast enough to use in anything involving movement, yet not so fast you feel hurried in any way. I am not sure that it would be slow enough for pure meditation. Every musical creation on this CD is different, yet it flows seemlessly. I also bought YogaZone, Music for Yoga- it was good-a few shared artists- but nothing compared to Path. If you are looking for a complement to your yoga, or want some music to create a relaxed atomosphere this is it!

Album Description
Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard's partnership as Global Communication began in 1991. Since then the pair has recorded music across all facets of electronic music (and with impressive results) under several aliases, including Jedi Knights, Link, The Reload, and Chameleon - while their most infamous name is Global Communication for ambient, house, and downtempo.
Tom and Mark join forces once again on Fabric 26, a polished selection from two of electronic music's most accomplished producers. It flows through the newest directions in hip hop, a mash up of broken and deep house, techno and electro styles, to the final exclusive downtempo track from Tom Middleton. As AMBA, he shows his latest direction - a love of aural elegance, simplicity, melody and harmony in keeping with the tradition of Global Communication; pure emotion in sound.
Customer Reviews:
how's about YOU enter a title for YOUR review!?.......2006-07-01
The steve spacek song is great...I love it...it's the best song ever made.
Excellent, Forward-Thinking Tunes From A Fabulously Multi-Faceted Duo.......2006-05-12
It looks as though certain earlier-reviewers of this installation of Fabric releases are disappointed because they were expecting the boxed and packaged former sounds of Global Communication. I would like to remind them that things change and progress...and influences evolve and create new passion. For me, this was the case upon listening to this cd for the first time. From beginning to end, I was taken on a journey of sounds and rhythms that have no place in the mainstream yet felt familiar. I clearly recognized what it was about each of the tracks chosen by these brilliant producers/dj's that fit their musical personalities and complimented each other so well. I still have chills! So maybe it's not the techy-ambient tunes you miss and were hoping to hear, but it is something new and offbeat, yet lush and mezmerizing and MOVING. Give it another listen and this time, HEAR WHAT THEY ARE COMMUNICATING!
Global Communication IS the Jedi Knights!.......2006-04-22
Bottom line: If you like Tom Middleton's dance mixes (Sound of the Cosmos, The Trip) or Jedi Knights' production, you're going to love this! Buy it!
Ok, this is not much like other Global Communication releases, but that's no reason for such animosity. For legal reasons, the duo of Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard cannot use the name Jedi Knights any more (remember that George Lucas guy?). Previously, Jedi Knights was their avenue for releasing their space-funk oriented material, and their popular Global Communication moniker was reserved for techno-ambient musings. So, this managed to confuse some people, which is unfortunate because this album really deserves high praise. This is not an ambient album, but it is a superb example of the sweet booty-shaking tunes these guys are also known for. Just a glance at the track list alone should awake shivers in electronic music fanatics, since it features tunes from Dabrye, Trickski, As One, Vince Watson, Shur-i-kan, and Balil (better known as Black Dog) as well as a new tune from Tom Middleton himself! The album also ventures into some excellent hip-hop that seems to be disappointing other reviewers, but I am enjoying it a lot. However, I feel the album just keeps getting better as it goes on (although Dabrye does rule) and by the end, we're into some of the sugariest detroit-styled techno you will ever hear. It's expertly mixed with tunes you won't get on any other compilation/mix, and you know it's done with love since it's got the GC name. What more do you want people? Oh, and by the way, I love 76:14 too, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy other types of music as well.
Extremely Dissapointed.......2006-04-12
76:14, Remotion, Pentamouous Metamorphosis...THOSE are Global Communication albums. This is pure drivel comprised mostly of (C)rap and trendy house music that has been remixed. My biggest complaint is that I didnt buy this CD to fill my house with the shameful vulgarities that normally accompany (c)rap music (and I use the term "music" here very generously) and that appear here in a few of the "songs". I bought this CD because the title of the group on this album is GLOBAL COMMUNICATION, not Gun Master Nig*er Bit*h F*!ker!!!
There is NOTHING here that resembles the music that Global Communication has released under the name GLOBAL COMMUNICATION in the past! Knowing that Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton release music under other names makes me wonder why they didnt do so in this case? I dont expect the same old stuff from them (I was hoping that they actually had something new and interesting to COMMUNICATE) but packaging this GARBAGE into a CD released under the name GLOBAL COMMUNICATION is like packaging porn into a movie entitled DISNEY'S BAMBI RETURNS....It just isnt right and quite frankly, is SUPER OFFENSIVE.
TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY for anyone expecting to hear Global Communication do something worthy of recording. Through ALL their releases (even the ones under other names) this is the most shameful, vulgar and deviod of anything remotely worthy of musical attention, thought or reflection.
Not the usual Fabric.......2006-04-01
I read the reviews for this mix album and it seemed like i couldnt be getting a better cd but i was pretty dissapointed. I liked the Cosmos cd and some previous G.Communication but this mix isnt what i expected. It starts out promising but quickly changes with a selection of pretty shameful hip hop. I am a big hip hop fan and the stuff on here doesnt do the mix any favours. I also thought the change of tempos was a bit jumpy and it just never seems to go anywhere. I was waiting for some good tech house to kick in but it is all a bit 'bar friendly' if you know what i mean. If you are looking for good Fabriclive compilations i'd go for.....Freestylers, Plump Djs, James Lavelle and Aim. This one just didnt impress

One of my favourites of all time.......2004-02-28
This album was one of those lucky finds in the CD Club I was a member of- I saw the name Deep Forest and bought it without knowing anything else about it. I am so glad! This album makes me want to dance and dream. It can both move your body and put you in a trance. A great intersection of Jon Anderson's cerebral wistfulness, Deep Forest and others' adventurousness, and the Latin flavour of the original songs.

Moves you like Sasha and Digweed. Vibrant and exotic. Expansive. Gets in there and writhes. It's a superb and unique recording. Cerebrally stimulating. Brings you up and lets you go...you'll love it.

One of Glay's best!.......2001-06-19
Global Communication is a new single of Glay's for 2001, and easily a fan favorite. Aside from the excellent lyrics and beat, the traits that stick out the most with this song are the background instruments and sounds. Many, many different types of effects (strikes, bubble guitar- you name it) coincide with the vocals to create an outstanding, all-around effect. This is definetely a headphones song ^^ Good Morning N.Y.C was alright as well, although it seemed very rushed and repetitive to me. This single also comes equipped with an outstanding jewel case design and lyricbook, and a video trailer for the Glay Expo 2001 (with Glay themselves commenting on it!) that can played back on your computer. All in all, this a very satisfying cd which I highly recommend adding to your collection :)

Global Communication are two Englishmen (Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton) who have been very involved in the electronic music scene in the U.K. Specializing in the ambient/environmental genre, they make extremely gentle, organic music. Pentamerous Metamorphosis is a "retranslation" of an album by Chapterhouse called Blood Music that has only been available as a promotional item in England (until now). So, what we have here is a remix of a dance-pop album originally recorded by a bunch of shoe-gazers back in 1994. Interestingly, the document amplifies the lush melodies of Chapterhouse's conventional rock record and turns it into a thing of rare beauty. Eliminating most of the band's vocal tracks and de-emphasizing guitars in favor of shimmering keyboards and aquatic-sounding synthesizers, this is quality ambient music. --Mitch Myers
Customer Reviews:
My favorite album. Period........2003-11-27
I was once walking on a beach on the Atlantic coast just before dawn, listening to this album. I was listening to the song "Beta Phase," and just as the song moves from a dark, passive tone to that beautiful, active, warm tone - for those who have heard the album, you know the point I'm speaking of - the sun broke over the horizon. I hope that when I'm old and about to leave this world, I'll be able to remember that moment. Thanks for Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard, I probably will. This album is a gift.
One of my favorite ambient albums..........2002-12-23
Global Communications just go it right on this one. This is a perfect mix of floating ambient with a bit of a slow deep electronic beat in it.. I would not be surprised to meet the band members; Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton in a party with Brian Eno.
If you like ambient, then you definitely need to invest in this album.
A Classic.......2001-08-03
An outstanding album. Ambient music at it's best. "Epsilon Phase" is one of the most moving pieces of music I have ever heard. This album is ambient at it's best. It needs to be re-released.
Don't call this a remix.......2001-05-24
Okay, I love the whole dj culture techno thing. Remixing in a lot of ways has made music very exciting again. But regardless of who the future DJ's are and what they do with remixes, it will almost take an act of God to top Pentamerous Metamorphosis. I mean, these two guys take themes from a crap Manchester sound record and make a contemporary electronic symphony out of it.
The whole thing might not be the most original piece of music in the world. It owes debts to Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and This Mortal Coil. But it still acts as a great reprsentation of how dynamic, emotional and moving good electronic music can be. Especially important in this day and age of techno where things are a bit too focused on the dancefloor. I mean, how many dance records hold up to repeat listenings at home?

Sweet...........2000-02-24
The sounds on this CD are soft, unique, and wonderful. Strange sounds and rythms are forged together in a great mix of ambient and electronica, soft at first, then picked up in the middle of the song to ride you through the waves. I can't even imagine how many times I have listened to this CD, and I think I have to buy another one because the continuous use has scratched it so much it is barely playable anymore. :( All in all, this is a great CD that I can listen to when I am in a serene mood, as this enhances my feelings and just makes life better for that too-short an hour this is playing.
