5 out of 5 stars Lisa Kelly.......2007-07-13

Absolutely beautiful voice...always smiling...great stage presence! Her vocal range, I think, is larger than the other girls. She is my favorite of all the girls.

5 out of 5 stars Would give this 6 stars if I could..........2007-07-12

A blow-out production of wondrous Celtic music tha offers affirmation and comfort, especially suitable for someone facing significant challenges in his or her life. Beautifully produced... offers hours of enjoyment, where the meaning goes deeper with every hearing.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!.......2007-07-06

Celtic Woman is a musical ensemble comprised of five Irish and one New Zealander female artists - five vocalists (including Lisa Kelly), and one violinist. This wonderful album is a collection of 11 tracks, all the work of the incomparable Lisa Kelly. Lisa was born into a musical family, and is well known for her singing of classical and Celtic songs - she spent five years as the lead female vocal for Riverdance! I must say, this album shows off her ability to its best.

I like having nice music to listen to at work, and this album is one of my favorites. While working, I love the angelic sound of Lisa's voice sweeping out of my speakers. Overall, I found this to be a great album, one that is always wonderful to listen to. I give it my highest recommendations!

5 out of 5 stars Lisa! The best of the Celtic Women!.......2007-07-04

This is a wonderful CD, very relaxing to listen to on the porch with an ice tea in your hand. There are some repeats of her songs from "Celtic Woman" but they were my favorites anyway.

5 out of 5 stars talented voice.......2007-07-03

As with the other ladies, I was introduced to her music on Celtic Woman-Live at Slane Castle. She has a great voice and is a real entertainer. I wish that her album had been a DVD video. She is one of those singers that sounds good singing just about any song. Really liked the album and could have listened much longer. You will really like it.

The follow-up to Fairy of the Woods, Fairy NightSongs, and Fairy HeartMagic finds Gary Stadler back at the piano spinning out lush emotive songs that conjure moonbeams, star-blanketed nights, and enchanted forests. Layers of light synthesizer, Lisa Lynne's dreamy Celtic harp, and the fantasy language lyrics of fine new vocalist Stephannie dance with Stadler's soft-pedaled playing. Fairy HeartMagic, rather than featuring starkly individual pieces, plays more like slightly varied movements of one unified piece, just right for pre-slumber, soft-focus Saturday mornings, or unwinding after a long afternoon. While not written specifically for children, little ones will find this frolicsome but gentle music pleasant to the ears and soothing to the psyche. Stadler, whose songs often begin as bedtime songs for his wife, has composed and arranged a dilly of a lullaby for the magical landscape of vision and reverie. --Paige La Grone

Album Description

Acclaimed composer Gary Stadler (Fairy of the Woods, Fairy NightSongs) takes you further into the world of ancient Celtic lore, featuring extraordinary " Enya-esque" vocalist Stephannie and Celtic Harpist Lisa Lynne. Together they take you on a soul-healing journey into a place where innocence and wisdom are one. Listen, and your heart will be renewed with a mystical beauty.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Actually 14 tracks.......2007-03-20

I was going to rate this 4 stars, because I was unhappy to find so many instrumental tracks. They are pretty (though nothing special), but there are 6 of them. Out of twelve that's disappointing, but then I read the booklet and found that there are an additional 2 tracks you can get on the computer. One of them is called Story, which is more of a spoken poem; the other I'm not sure but I'm calling it Far Away and it's very beautiful.
A lovely album altogether.

About the extra tracks, you can get them only on the computer. For windows I'm not sure, but the 'presentation' doesn't work on my Mac. However, you can access the folder called 'gary media' and drag the tracks to iTunes (or your desktop). Along with the two complete songs, you also get a lot of sample songs for other albums.

The booklet that comes along with the CD explains how to get the tracks, and has the lyrics for the 12 tracks on the CD. Pretty artwork!

Very different from the first Gary Stadler CD I got, Deep Within a Faerie Forest (the tracks in addition to being beautiful are also cool), which I recommend, but Stephannie has a sweet voice and the songs are pleasing to the ear with a few treasures.

5 out of 5 stars Very Soothing.......2007-03-02

Do you need some soothing, yet uplifting background music? That is what I was looking for, and I was not disappointed! It is suitable for an adult, who I purchased it for, as well as children for quiet times. I will be checking out more titles from this artist.

5 out of 5 stars Enchanting~.......2006-03-09

I disagree with Marc Ruby... Stephaine has a beautiful voice.
Its my fav of all the Gary Stadler Fairy cd's..Stepahine's voice takes you to another time..another place.. I love it! Wish I could find more of her but so far have been unable to..
This Cd is definalty worth your money!

3 out of 5 stars Definitely off the beaten path.......2005-11-09

This is a CD I enjoy. It is definitely not within the mainstream of most musical styles. It was the inclusion of Lisa Lynne on a couple of selections that encouraged me to buy it without having heard it. Generally, I was not disappointed although this CD doesn't inspire me as much as some other New Age and Native American music I have.
For me, the treasure in this CD is the song "Sa'Brooke", which features Stephannie singing softly over gentle, evocative music in a gaelic-sounding language which, according to the insert, she essentially came up with herself. Her voice is sweet, passionate and inspiring in a simple melody which perfectly compliments the gentle arrangement.
"Deanash", though nice, is basically "Garden of Dreams" without the vocals or orchestral arrangement. The same could be said for "Heartmagic", a piano solo which is really "Sa'Brooke" without the vocals or orchestral arrangement. To my ear, these two variations represent a failure on the part of the producer to avoid repetitiveness.
It is a good CD for background ambiance while reading or writing.

4 out of 5 stars Fairy This, Fairy That........2005-05-02

This is the kind of album that pushes me into a new age crisis. While there is nothing inherently wrong with it, the fact that Stadler opted for a 'cute' title and album cover is a warning that the potential for great silliness in the name of a music genre lurks in the bushes.

For the most part, this never materializes, although my slight deafness reduces the impact of lyrics that are a bit lightheaded. Musically the album is sometimes hackneyed (angelic choirs, etc.), but always pleasant to hear. Little moments, like Deanash make up for the less successful parts and overall I rate this album as good background for contemplative or creative moments.

This album was originally intended for performance with Singh Kaur. Unfortunately, the singer died before the recording and Stephannie took Singh Kaur's place. Unfortunately, I say, because Stephannie's voice has a 'little girl' edge and breathiness that was totally absent from Singh Kaur's. This gives the singing a trivial sound when it deserves better. On the bright side, though, is Lisa Lynne's appearance on harp. Essentially, this is a break-even for the listener.

Frankly, I would go with Fairy Night Songs and only buy this album if it is exactly your cup of tea. New age vocals are difficult on a good day and you are likely to be a bit disappointed. Listen to Fairy Night Songs and Sa'Brooke - you will see what I mean. But the instrumental work is good. You will have to decide for yourself.

2 out of 5 stars Just Don't Buy It...........2005-05-13

I purchased this CD, anticipating deep, soulful Celtic Music, and what I received was a sort of "Celtic New Age" brew of elevator/shopping mall music that lacks any authentic depth or soul. If Lisa Lynn had simply recorded a cd of her own harp music, my review would have exceeded five stars. Her own genius is watered down and made tasteless by the lack of melody as well as the amateur sounding arrangements of the other instruments. The rather garish cover art should have been my first red flag. If you buy this one, you can't say that no one warned you...

5 out of 5 stars Definite Soother of the Soul.......2003-12-04

When I ordered this CD, I was extremely enthusiastic to hear work by the amazing Lisa Lynne. After hearing the first track, "Sister Moon", I simply fell in love with it. I packed it with me wherever I went. I drove my dear mum crazy trying to get it into the CD player in her car. But in the end, she loved it, too.

My favorite will always be "Knight Ride", a bloody terrific action-sweet piece. By the way, "Fields of Gold" was the one that caught my attention in the samples. Lynne and her crew replay the tune so well that it almost got me up and dancing.

Overall, I'd give this outstanding CD 10 stars if I could. So if you have a heart for Celtic, soothing, or simply magical tunes...well, buy the CD!

4 out of 5 stars not-so-celtic music.......2003-08-20

I bought this cd after hearing bits and pieces of the songs. What I thought I was getting was a great Celtic compilation, however when I actually sat down and listened to the whole thing, I found that I was, for the most part, wrong. Don't mistake what I'm saying--this is a very good cd, and, yes, the songs are played on Celtic instruments in the Celtic "style." However, the music that is played is very non-celtic. What I mean is that, besides two or three of the tracks, the music that is played isn't Celtic at all--it's "regular" music played on Celtic instruments. Most of the tracks start out Celtic-sounding, but by the end of the song you feel like you're listening to more of a Celtic pop band. What I was looking for was an Irish Celtic cd, and what this one turned out to be was more of an American Celtic cd which, in reality, is more like New Age than Celtic.

Now, I did give this cd four stars, and that's because it is still a very good cd. I was disappointed with the song selection, but other than that the cd is practically flawless. If you're looking for a good cd containing some Celtic music, then I would suggest this. However, if you're looking for a Celtic cd that makes you feel like you're in Ireland, living among the Celts themselves, then please look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Album.......2003-06-09

When I bought this my boyfriend rolled his eyes as he always dose when I buy new age type CDs. When I played it later that night he fell in love with the ethirical sounds of the harp, and the divine wistle of the flute. Now I have to fight him to take this CD to work or any where for that matter. A must have for any one who loves great music and wonderfully produced albums.

5 out of 5 stars Luscious, multi-instrumental diversions!.......2002-11-30

Harpist Lisa Lynne, formerly known as Lisa Lynne Franco, is featured in cheerful arrangements crafted by herself and fellow instrumentalists George Tortorelli and David Arkenstone. These contemporary compositions, truly an ensemble effort, borrow from traditional motifs and add modern ambience and edge. Instrumentation used includes mandolin, dulcimer, guitars, cittern, arch lute, violin, cello, gamba, bass, electronic keyboards, percussion, and the distinctive, fluid flute and whistle-playing of George Tortorelli. When I first heard this CD, I was in the midst of reading a fantasy story by Mercedes Lackey entitled "The Eagle and the Nightingales", published as part of the trilogy compilation "The Free Bards". It occurred to me, as I looked at the cover painting by Nora Koerber for "Daughters of the Celtic Moon" and the photographs of Lisa dressed in period garb, that there was some similarity to Lackey's descriptions of her harp-toting bardic heroine "Nightingale". Then I noticed that the fourth track on this album is actually entitled "Nightingale", and later realized that Lackey and Lynn had both collaborated with David Arkenstone on his album "The Celtic Book of Days". A case of mutual inspiration? Or mere coincidence in a small world? Regardless, I find Lynne's music quite complimentary to the spirit of Lackey's brave, gentle and loving character. If you like this CD, check out Lynne's extensive discography. A visit to her website will reveal her complete history of releases, with wonderfully long clips to listen to and without any confusion caused by name changes.

    Album Description

Lisa Moscatiello is a singer and songwriter with roots in folk, pop and jazz. She has been compared to Annie Lennox, Sandy Denny and kd lang. In a review of her latest CD, "Second Avenue", Billboard said she possesses "one of the most gorgeous vocal instruments in all of folk-tinged pop," and in Rock 'n' Reel (UK) critic John O'Regan stated "Her voice is a mixture of strength and serenity perfectly capable of causing a quiet storm." Moscatiello's first album, Innocent When You Dream , established her as a singer able to embrace a wide variety of songs and make them her own. On Second Avenue she continues in this vein, with Jesse Winchester's sultry "Biloxi" alongside the Eurythmics' "Love Is a Stranger," Abbey Lincoln's bossa-inflected "Throw it Away" and a sensuous Northern Irish love song called "The Lass of Glenshee." On Second Avenue, she also unveils the debut recording of "Sleepin' Late," a ballad penned in 1965 by Motown songwriter Fangette Willett.

In recent years Moscatiello's original songs have become a staple of her live performances, and fans will recognize the catchy title song, "Second Avenue", a dryly humorous look at unrequited love, the driving "Fugitive" co-written with Arthur Loves Plastic's Bev Stanton, and her penetrating contemporary folk ballads "Night Bird", "Bed by the Window" and "Angry Town." *Second Avenue was originally released in 2000 by Wind River Records. This 2002 re-release contains two new cuts, "Little Maggie" and "In the Here and Now."

        5 out of 5 stars Celtic Spirituality - Lisa & Ani style!.......2001-11-27

Lisa Thiel and Ani Williams are two of the most mentally positive, spiritually rich and musically smooth artists out there making spiritual albums for us. Their last one, Sisters of the Dream, had a Native American feel over all. But this one sounds more like a Celtic spiritual album. So the two albums are quite different, although we still get their smooth, healing voices and shining spirits!

This album has more brisk instrumentation, a few "spiritual jigs" - Scottish style. The goddesses and religious references are mainly from the Celtic isles. And it's a good opportunity to see that what Lisa and Ani offer us isn't so much music from one spiritual tradition, but gentle and uplifting reminders of Spirit in any number of traditions. Last time, it was Native American. This time, it's the Celtic Isles.

This is a wonderfully enjoyable album - very well produced also. Good sound. One note though - there is a LOT of overlap on the song list between this and Lisa Thiel's Invocation of the Graces. You may want to just get one album or the other because they share so many of the same songs. Although some fans will definitely want both, because each album has some tracks that the other doesn't have.
