An Oasis of Listening Pleasure.......2007-05-25

Sandstorm is my first entree into the surf instrumental genre, and what a way to be initiated! I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first, having only skimmed the surface of surf with the usual suspects, but what an amazing surprise! Any true lover of music will find something to be drawn to in this collection. From the blazing guitars to the driving rhythm, it's a sensory overload and quite a trip!

Surf the Sahara!.......2007-04-26

Since listening to surf instrumentals for the past 5 years (yes, I'm a newbie), I really enjoyed the Space Cossacks as my type of high energy, driving music. Ivan has taken his amazing talent and vision and carried it over into The Madeira. This album has the flavor of the Mediterranian along with a surf blend. If you have a chance to see the Madeira live, do it!! You won't regret it, I promise. Their California tour was awesome. Too bad the Space Cossacks were before my listening time.

I have been listening to instrumental and surf music since 1958 and this CD contains songs with excellent composition, instrumentation, and playing passion. My investment is indeed of value. See the group perform if you can. Buy the CD and enjoy the ride!

Madeira's Sandstorm.......2007-04-23

In the early 1960's, southern California was taken by storm by a new musical sound, a double-picked, lightning tremelo guitar style unheard of til then. The musician was Dick Dale, and his reverb-drenched playing (known to melt a guitar pick after one tune) fostered a host of imitators like the Chantays, Pyramids, Astronauts, Belairs as well as vocal groups like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean. And so began the first wave of surf music. In the late 1970's and on into the 1980's, the sound was re-introduced by the likes of Jon & the Nightriders, the Wedge, the Malibooz, the Surf Raiders. The surf sound was back, and I was delighted. Then "Pulp Fiction" helped to kick start what many feel is the third wave, when it showcased Mr. Dale's "Miserlou" to many old and young fans. Surf instrumental music is alive and well, and is represented by one of the finer groups currently out there, The Madeira. Having become quite familiar with Ivan Pongracic's quitar playing while with the Space Cossacks, I was quite excited on the pre-publicity surrounding his new band and new release. From the Middle Eastern rhythm of "El Caliph" with its pounding tribal drums to the soft and mysterious "Crescent Moon", from the energy-driven "Sandstorm" to the beautiful and thirst-quenching "Oasis", this release is pure listening pleasure. Yes, surf instrumental music is alive and well, and this is one group that is doing its finest to keep it that way.

First time I heard this on a club in San Diego, CA, it blew up my mind so bad. I asked myself,"Oh my gosh, what's the title of this music and who made this?" I had been looking for this music for months and I don't have any idea where to get it and now I finally got it. I listened to it first to make sure that's the one I'm looking for, and yes, it is. I recommend this "Sandstorm" to all the people who wants their mind to go crazy. I just listen to this every single day I go somewhere. I go crazy and dance this music inside my house and feeling like I don't care what anybody else think. This "Sandstorm" is like a trance-rave music type and I like that. Darude, the person who made this music, YOU ROCK BABY!!! You made my night so happy because of your music, SANDSTORM.

Darude has got a major hit on his hands. The best insturmental track I have heard since "Children" by Robert Miles. The track just flows very well, words are not needed when music sounds like this. I have not heard it on any of the radio stations around here. I just hope people continue to be exposed to this record because it is truly special.

CAN YOU "FEEL THE BEAT"?.......2001-07-03

Darude has become a favourite very fast. This track is even better than "Sandstorm" which totally swept the dance-floors. The video is also beautiful. "Feel The Beat" has become my all time favourite and I recommand the album to everyone with or without a taste for trance and dance music.

Darude's music is amazing and if you get the album you'll have the chance to listen to a track called "Burning" which is absolutely out of this universe...I'm sure this is the music of our Gods!!!

Two Words: Very Nice!.......2002-01-15

I am so glad I found Mera... Nice voice, with warm and nostalgic tones, indeed! The title song, with Natisse Bambi providing the backup vocals, truly is an "original"!
I particularly liked "Yalili Yali", also with Natisse Bambi, and an extremely pleasant sound arrangement.
One can dance to "Venga" very latin beat... And then there is "Albee", with a definite French overtone, tres chic!
"Mi Amor" concludes my top-5 selection of the 10 songs included in this album, because of the "good" rhythm...
All in all, this is a musical voice I hope to hear very soon in another production, possibly, by the very same Shad Rabbani.

I first found out about this song, because i downloaded it as a ringtone in my phone, form Zingy.com..........Kick ass song! Very addicting techno beat. Makes one feel like they're galloping on the sand peaks of some windy desert.

I dont know where to begin......the track is simply fabulous, catchy as hell and the rumour is that it's just the beginning, i heard the rest of the album is even better....... i also love the video which i think was inspired by "run lola run", the video is featured on the "remixes" cd containing thre ariel's mix of sandstorm. I LOVE THIS TRACK!!!
