What a brilliant song this is.
The cd single is excellent and well worth buying, and not just for Madonna fans.
My personal favorite remix is "Brother Browns Bond-Age club mix".
Overall, all of the remixes are very,very good.

This single is great, with one little miss.
1. Radio Edit (3:30, 10/10): Just what it says.
2. Dirty Vegas Main Mix (10:10, 10/10): Doesn't move much, but still great.
3. Thee Retrolecto Mix (7:00, 11/10): GAWGEOUS! Felix da Housecat did a great job!
4. Thunderpuss Club Mix (9:26, 0/10): Thunderpuss, what happened? This is just beats and occasional vocals. When the pitch-shifted her voice, I just skipped to the next mix. Garbage. Horrendous garbage. I never thought I'd give anything Thunderpuss a 0/10.
5. Deepskay Remix (7:29, 100/10): The absolute best commercially-released "DAD" remix ever. The jewel of this single.
6. Brother Brown's Bond-Age Club (7:51, 10/10): With a name like Brother Brown, I was expecting a funky remix. I was wrong, but i a good way. Very chill.
I love this single so much. I have almost every song on my iPod. To those whining about it isn't a real Bond theme: get over it. Shirley Bassey's great, but they needed a bit of a change.

I paid under $8 for this maxi single and so being overly critical of the content is well....unnecessary.

Obviously the original mix of the song is really good, otherwise, why would you want to buy a remix of it?? As for the remixes, there are some good and some bad.

The 1st remix (Dirty Vegas Main mix) has a few (I stress 'few') good moments, but overall, it's too long and it doesn't do much for me.

The 2nd remix (Thee RetroLectro mix) starts out promising, but again if fails to progress into anything that interesting.

The 3rd remix (Thunderpuss Club mix) has an pounding beat (as would be expected) and really offers nothing else.

The 4th remix (Deepsky mix) is by far the best on the album becuase it manages to partially escape the obvious trap of remixes by avoiding getting mind-numbingly boring after 1 minute.

The final remix (Brother Brown's Bond-Age mix) is an easy pick for second best on the album, however, again, nothing all that great.

Overall, this album was dissapointing and offered no stellar remixes of a great single. The only reason to buy this would be if your a HUGE Madonna fan or you like collecting maxi singles. But, again, its only $8.

Her Best Single Since "Frozen".......2005-07-19

OMG, I adore this song! The lyrics are actually excellent, in my opinion. I love the "analyze this" part. The movie itself is horrible but this theme song rox! Also, check out her "American Life" album. Contrary to popular opinion, it's a brilliant album. Love ya, Madonna!

This is the Best Song Madonna Has Written For A Movie and The Remixes Will Blow You Away.......2004-12-24

This is the best James Bond song I have ever heard. It is also my favorite song written and produced for a movie by Madonna. A View To A Kill comes in a close second.This song went to number 6. The remixes are as good as Vogue and we all know how good Vogue is and the songs remixes. This song was also written and produced my Mirwais. This would have to be the 2nd maxi single next to Vogue with highly energized remixes. I like how she says "I need to lay down". The video is great with Madonna strapped in an electric chair in Korea and about to be electricuted but knocks the guys out and escapes. Later during the video the 2 Madonna's battle each other out. One is the evil Madonna dressed in black and the other is the good Madonna dressed in white. A truely amazing video!! Now for the remixes.

The Radio Edit: This is similar to the album version one except she does not say at the end "I need to lay down" like in the Album version. There are some tap sounds in the beginning and taps sounds at the end, I love it. Dirty Vegas Main Mix: This starts off simialr to the radio edit but there is a much extended version of this its excellent. Thee RetroLectro Mix is brillant and there is one sound in it that is absolutely superb.Thunderpuss Club Mix is my favorite remix. Theres so much power in the song. You could hear her laughing being remixed into the song and she says "analyze this this this" . The sounds in this one are very well produced and give the song so much more energy. Deepsky Remix: Is a fast remix too and is enjoyable to listen to. Brothera Brown's Bond-Age Club: Starts differenly too and is the only slow one from this brilliant song. She sings in it more and the music is less pronounced.

I would highy recommend this CD because of the highly energized remixes. All the remixes are great and you will not be dissapointed!!

Great album by the best punk band ever........2003-10-28

It's very unusual for a punk-rock band to stay true to their music, their ideals and their fans after 20 years. This album shows that Die Toten Hosen is one of those unusual bands. Either if you are new to this band or an old fan, this album will not disappoint you.

If you own ANYTHING else by the Toten Hosen, you'll like this. I've been an Amazon.com customer for years, and (to the best of my memory) this is my first review--the album is worth it. Fine, it's not their BEST album, but it's a lot of fun, and they seem to have learned how to play a few of their instruments in the last decade. ;) This is another DTH album to slurp down altbier to and run through the streets singing without [carring] what the neighbors think.

"Kanzler Sein" and "Graue Panther" are on endless loop on my CD player; they're fun but not devoid of social commentary. "Kein Alkohol ist auch keine Loesung" is on par with the Altbier song and Bis zum Bitterem Ende. If you want to turn your non-germanophile friends on to DTH, but "Learning English" is too compilation-y for you, this may just be the album to do it with.

Now, if I could just find some Diebels in this one-horse burgh........

New Classic Punk.......2002-10-10

Don't be put off by the title: you dont need to be german to like this CD. Die Toten Hosen are the biggest German band around, and anyone who is a fan of the late 70s punk, to the tune of The Clash and The Sex Pistols, will really enjoy this CD. Socialit ideals abound in this record, particularly in the excellent Kanzler Sein. And, of course there is the obligatory Toten Hosen drinking song, taking the form of Kein Alkohol (Ist auch keine Losung). Quality stuff.

This is the best Hosen album in years...Really........2002-03-02

If you are into this band, do not be afraid to buy this album.

wow! this is another excellent single from Morrissey's fabulous You Are The Quarry album. "First Of The Gang To Die" rocks with a tremendous melody and a soaring vocal performance that sticks in the head for weeks. it literally jumps right out of the speakers and won't let go! the remaining songs on this single are a far cry from the filler tracks that most record companies stuff onto their singles. these songs are wonderous gems full of charm and passion....it's hard to believe the amount of great b-sides that the You Are The Quarry sessions turned out. these b-sides are so good that it's even more amazing that they didn't make the final cut for the official album! "My Life Is A Succession Of People Saying Goodbye" is a brooding atmospheric number that chimes with a ghostly refrain and a haunting melody....great musical terittory for Morrissey's voice to float all around. "Teenage Dad On His Estate" is a song that, upon first listen, didn't do much for me. but upon each repeated spin, it has burrowed itself deep into my brain and now i love i think it's the standout cuts on here. it has a rolling swagger and a terrific glam rock feel that reminds me of Morrissey's Your Arsenal record. this fine single closes out with the haunting "Mexico," a song that was a live favorite for a few years before ever being released here. a very lovely song with some tasteful guitar work that reminds me of the dusty plains of...well, Mexico. it goes without saying, that if you're a Morrissey fan, then these songs on this single will make you very very pleased. i know that i am.

By far, this is the most economical (and more bang for the buck)offering among "singles" released by this record company for this single. The other choice seems a rip-off, so stick with this one. I like how they include new songs on these and ones that are not found elsewhere.

4. 'Mexico' - Morrissey is the 'Alternative Sinatra.' Frank could have hit this one out of the park too. So timeless, so retro, so smooth. It feels more like a vintage Technicolor, old style Hollywood film, from 1960 than a song. Think: Rat Pack.

3. 'Teenage Dad on His Estate' - Ordinary Boys grow up and become these guys and with their lives laid out before them they are lucky.

2. 'My Life is a Succession of People Saying Goodbye' - This track just builds and builds on itself like a hurricane gathering speed in the sea with a swirling, whirling, twirling, arresting, enchanting harp-like glissando (a rapid series of ascending and/or descending notes on the musical scale).

1. 'First of The Gang to Die' - Part of the canon of Morrissey's best work which includes 'Suedehead' & 'Everyday is Like Sunday.' It is a song he will be remembered for. Music fits vocal delivery hand in glove. The lyrics are poetry set to a pop song. There is a "Last of the Famous International Playboys" feel to the song and 'First of The Gang' may be just as beautiful. Gleaming guitars, a rousing chorus, that classic croon, and unequivocally Alain Whyte's finest hour. And a top 10 UK hit too!!!

The single itself is amazing. Not only is it strong lyrically and musically, enchanting and really catchy, but it's original; it's a (somewhat) new subject for Morrissey, showing that he hasn't stagnated. A song for the ages.

My Life: is great. A very striking melody, and typically Morrissey lyrics - the future can't stretch out behind you; once it stretches behind you, it's the past! I love it.

Teenage Dad: This one doesn't really have much going for it. The way it's sung sounds so forced; the lyrics are fit over this Procrustean bed of the music, and these lyrics might be some of Morrissey's worst, except for one good line about the news. This may seem like too esoteric a criticism, but there's a naivete this song has in common with All the Lazy Dykes off the album...In contrast to character songs like November Spawned a Monster, which were really sharp, original characterizations, these new songs are full of middle-class stereotypes and tired ideas about suburban conformity...I don't think Morrissey has ever seen the people he's singing about, here, or that he feels very strongly about them. His criticisms lack force, reality and specificity.

Mexico: Man, what _happened_ to this song? It had so much energy live, with the roaring guitars, but this version seems neutered. Still, it's a good song; the simple lyrics grow on you. I just think it deserved a more impressive treatment.

A single can't be supported on the strength of the title song alone. Irish Blood, English Heart was also crippled by one extremely weak b-side; looking back, though, take Every Day is Like Sunday, which was a great song with three exceptional b-sides; also Boxers and Hold Onto Your Friends. Those were all five star records; as long as Teenage Dad is there, Gang isn't.
