The influences of many of the modern day music styles we hear today all trace back to some of the types of songs we hear on this CD. I love how this music was recorded not in a professional sound studio, but in the streets of small villages in Gambia. This is some of the most raw and honest samples of African music I've heard other than actually being there. This CD gives us a glimpse into the soul of African percussion music. I highly recommend it.
