About the Artist
SPRAGGA BENZ BIO Born Carlton Grant in Dunkirk one of the toughest area in Kingston, Jamaica, Spragga Benz began deejaying (the Jamaican equivalent of rapping) nine years ago as a dare from Buju Banton. At the time, Carlton (who's slender build earned him the nickname "Spaghetti", later shortened to Spragga.Since his modest entry into Jamaica's dancehall fraternity, Spragga has become one of reggae's most in demand deejay. His first single (officially) "Could A Deal" was an instant hit in Jamaica, but it was his second single, the X-rated "Jack It Up" which established Spragga as a bonafide dancehall sensation. More hits followed including "Girls Hooray", "Things A Gwaan" and "Jump Up and Swear" for the dancehall queens, with "Mark Death", "Who's Next" and "No Fun Thing" for the rude boys, all included on Spragga's 1994 debut album "Jack It Up" (VP Records). Spragga made even greater strides with his signing to Capital Records in August 1994. Spragga's 1995 debut album for Capital Records, "Uncommonly Smooth" featured more international chart topping songs including "A-1 Lover", a duet with Chevelle Franklyn, and a remake of "Spanish Harlem" featuring the song's original vocalist, R&B legend Ben E. King. Since then, Spragga has contributed several songs to the soundtracks for the films "Free Willy 2" and "Race The Sun" starring Halle Berry. Spragga's has collaborated with R&B trio Brownstone, KRS-ONE, pop group Charles & Eddie and renown producer Wyclef Jean on a remix for the track "All the Girlies". He's worked with the MCA Records upcoming artist Ruffa on the single "I Know A Place". Spragga along with Beenie Man is featured on the album "Two Bad DJ's" (VP Records). Spragga appearances are constantly requested at all major Reggae festivals and concerts both in Jamaica and Internationally. He's constantly touring throughout the Caribbean, America, and Europe. As it's title suggests, Spragga's third album release in 2000 is a smoking collection, "Fully Loaded" with 21 lethal Reggae shots, utilizing the varied talents of dancehall's finest producers including Dave Kelly, Andre "Rookie" Tyrel, John John, Danny Browne, Richard Browne, Bobby Digital and Richard "Richie D" Martin. Even international house producer Todd Terry lends his expertise. Spragga is also featured on Foxy Brown hit single and video "Oh Yeah" from "Broken Silence"/Def Jam With his 2001 release of his fourth album "Thug Nature"on his own label, Red Square / Benzspeculous Music. The album boasts bonafide hits such as "Warriors Cause" feat. Elephant Man, "Analogy" & "Gi Wi Dem" feat. Red Square Crew. Also new anthems for the ladies such as "Spin Yu Roll", "African Move", and "Di Rooster". For the rudeboys killer tunes like "Dem Lik Dem Head", "Gunz Up", "Coochie Daddy" and many more. Spragga's target rhymes and precision timing position him comfortably in the driver's seat, ensuring a continuous ride in the accelerated lane headed towards musical success. Spragga Benz has also appeared in the hip-hop independent film Brooklyn Babylon doing a cameo in 2000, Spragga will make another appearance in his second film debut, in starring role, film titled Shotta, a Jamaican independent movie to be release in 2001-2002. Spragga is always thinking of new and creative ideas, to further his entertainment career, while maintaining a major presents on the forefront of Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall music scene and still pleasing his R/B and Hip Hop fans and his other diverse International fan base.

Ok im from australia so u hav 2 understand that the albums that are released over here are likely to not be released in australi cause most people have no idea who layzie bone is, so when i saw this album i bought it because if i didnt i probably wud neva c it again but i didnt expect it to be that gud and at first i didnt think it was very good but just a couple of days ago i started listening to albums i havent listened to much in the past n now this is all im listenin 2 at the moment, The stand out songs for me at the moment are probably connectin the plots featuring wc, fear no man, still the greatist and as the rain. I highly recommend this album to any bone thugs and harmony fan,

Layzie Bone Is The Greatest.......2005-07-16

This cd is worth the money um u cant go wrong buying this highly recommended.He is not the best member of bone thugs but he holds his own on this one. He speaks the truth and i am from clevland and these guys spit the truth. Buy this Now stop stalling.

Layzie Bone/L-Burna B**ch.......2005-07-16

This album is very good and i cant believe some people r giving album below 4 stars which is f**ked up cause they probably listen to pop which is sad. Back to the cd it is a good listen and i would recommend this to rap fans anyday. He did a good job on this and the production was ok but not that good but that does not hurt the lyrics which r awesome. Go out and buy this or buy it from here at amazon.com u wont be disappointed.

Awesome Debut.......2005-07-16

Man this cd is off tha chain every sond is good and the production is great. Layzie is a awesome rapper and speaks from experience and the truth he aint no poser and i never see any bone thug material on t.v. which a good and bad thing cause they wont go pop but they dont get any air play and nobody knows about them which is sad cause they r missing out on some great stuff. Buy all the bone thug material that u can find cause they r all awesome and worth the purchase. Dont sleep on this album its good and will be one of my favorites for a long time to come. Buy this cd

Good solo debut.......2005-05-31

L Burna or Lil' Lay or whatever you call himheld it down pretty good for his solo. Of the 16 songs on here, guests are only on 4 so you get a lot of Layzie. Flesh is the only other Bone member on here and he has 1 verse. I like it better then most of the other group solo albums and it's a good 4 star release. It has 2 classics, 2 I skip, and 2 ok songs, the others are all good. Production is good on most songs but it could have used some DJ U-Neek touch to it. LT Hutton does a good job on 5 of the songs, Darren Vegas does 4, Mauly T, Dre Ghost, Step, Red Spyda, Damon Elliot, Budda Banks, Michale Siefert all do 1 song. He has some upbeat fast songs, a few deep ones, and of course a classic one for smokin' to. A good album to add to your Bone collection.

No matter what people say I thought this album was pretty amazing. The CD i bumped the most last year (2001) and still bumoing it today. How Long Will It Last, probably 4eva and it was a good first solo attempt, despite what many said.

Not too shabby. . ........2002-03-21

Album editing is a terrible terrible thing. Sometimes it can lead to an amazing song sounding horrible (i.e. Capleton Pure Sodom version on More Fire) and on Thug Nature it reigns supreme. Songs like the opener Coochie Daddy and Buck a Catty are nearly destroyed by the record company's torrid display of editing. However, if you set the editing aside, which is terribly difficult to do, you end up with a pretty good record from the now veteran Spragga. Apparently Spragga set out to make a straight head knocking dancehall album, and he succeeded in doing just that. Check out "Analogy" on the Superstar, also used by the following track "Bait", "Stunna" and "Di Rooster". My personal favorite is "Playa" with one of the wickedest rhythms I've heard in a long time. Overall, if you can get past the editing its a very good album, definitely worth buying if you're a Benz fan, or maybe if you're a hip-hop fan that is starting to listen to dancehall.
