Editorial Reviews
MONTY GUY Vocalist, Song Writer, Music producer. Born in South America. Grew up in London where he formed his first band at age 13. Produced his first album "LOVE JAMBOREE" in 1982; featuring the reggae-style swing tune "Pain Of Love". The next album was "IN THE BLACK", featuring the R&B flavored song "My Heart's One Desire", and the rock tinged single "Time And Passion" which was awarded a favorable review at 'Billboard Magazine' in 1985. He then presented "OPUS GROOVE 2000" in 1988, with "Hanging Tough", an R&B moderate tempo song, and the jazzy Big Band instrumentals "Blue Nite Swing", and "Melody With A Swing". Monty's objective in music production is tasteful lyrics, pleasing melodies, and orchestral arrangements with Big Band sound, while incorporating a noticeable Pop/R&B element.

Interesting New Music.......2003-07-06
A singularly unique and original treatment of musical art form. I thought the lyrics were tasteful (unlike a lot of stuff out there in today's market); like some of those earlier classy crooners. No need for warning labels about lyrics here. The songs have pleasant easy melodies. Listening isn't hard work.
I received the 5.1CH surround sound enhanced edition as a gift from a fellow audiophile who knows that I love to hear brand new music with a sense of adventure. A very interesting new musical effort; and a noticeable improvement over the original (which I plan to get for my collection also). As it turns out, the original "FF" is a cleaner, more precise, and a more sparkling mix, boldly featuring the "breathy tenor" (another critic's earlier description, and I agree here) of Monty Guy's vocal work effort.
The "surround sound" version of "FF" is a 'bigger' or bolder mix with more body in the sound presentation, and a warmer feel overall. Stereophiles will like the sound/channel separation of the music mix. In the enhanced "surround sound" version of "FF", the supporting instrumentation is more prominently featured, with Monty's "breathy tenor" in a clear, pleasant conversational mode. Shows Love of Music, Production Ethic, and Artistic Integrity.
Overall, FROZEN FIRE is a well put together CD package with an obvious and sincere effort to achieve class, good taste, and style; while striving to create and achieve the listeners pleasure. Professional looking with top drawer presentation (even the actual disc looks good-very neat). Easy on the eyes, and very interesting to my ears and sense of music appreciation. Perhaps the one caveat I see is that Monty Guy's music is for the mature, discerning audiophile who appreciates the works of the earlier greats, and whose equipment gently embraces a critical ear, while revealing the subtle nuances of good composition and critical musicianship. This album, to me, is a tasteful musical adventure that sounds great on my equipment. I like the work, and I certainly appreciate having received it as a gift.
Hmmm, what's this opus groove 2000 vinyl album all about? Oh, I liked the vocals; expressive, mellow, and sounded on key to me (I agree with and like the "breathy tenor" thing); and I stumbled on to song samples on the 'net while surfing. WOW! ...just heard from an L.A. source that this album was awarded multiple entries status for originality, composition, and quality on the 46th (2003) Grammy Awards Nominating Ballot...
Nice...I've got both productions of FROZEN FIRE in my collection. I guarantee you will enjoy this album...ABSOLUTELY!!!
Painful to listen to.......2003-03-04
"In the dawn's gentle light
I awake in pure delight
As I fall deeper in love with only you
When I'm holding you near
And you whisper in my ear
I fall deeper in love with only you"
The next song (Symphony of Love) begins as follows:
"A melody started to come to me, when
I thought of you, and, oh!, love's mystery, and
Now that you're near
I hear a symphony of love"
The next song (To Fall in Love) begins as follows:
"So gentle, like the rain
Falling softly upon my window pane
My love I keep for you
Tell you all that I now intend to do"
The next song...you get the idea
Monty sings off key often. It's truly painful. I'm not surprised (as of this review) that there is no audio clip of the music available. I must say that the insert and the appearance of the disc are very professional-looking. That's where the professional quality stops.
To sum it up this is a karaoke cd with lyrics already sung and recorded for you! Sing in the shower or buy a Casio keyboard from Toys "R" Us and play the reggae rhythm and sing along. Make up your own words as you go and have a tape recorder running. Release the album and you have your own Frozen Fire. I guarantee you'll be better...maybe.
