This is a great CD. The recording is of very good quality, and of course, Ornella's voice and style are superb. A real treat !

Not from Ocean's Twelve.......2005-02-24

The version of L'Appuntamento that is contained on the album referenced in the other review (Le Piu Belle Canzione) is NOT the same version that is on the Ocean's Twelve soundtrack. The Le Piu version has a corny groovy sixties keyboard and orchestration. I don't know about the version on Appuntamento Con O Vanoni, but if what you are looking for is more of what you heard in Ocean's Twelve, Le Piu is not going to do it for you.

Right Singer, Wrong Album.......2005-02-10

If you are interested in this album because you heard the title song on the soundtrack of "Oceans 12" you have discovered one of Italy's most loved divas with a career that spans decades and wealth of albums to explore. Unfortunately this album is one that has not aged well. In order to get this song along with more of her great ones, I reccomend "Le Piu Belle Canzoni Di Ornella Vanoni" which is a double album and well worth the extra bucks. Ornella is incredible and you've only just begun. Enjoy.

Mellow, moody and richly romantic........2006-10-02

The word "L'Appuntamento" is Italian for "the tryst," and that's as good a frame of reference as any to describe this lovely, liquid, gently layered music by Joseph Baldassare for acoustic guitar, violin, cello, flute and occasional vocalise. The tryst evoked by this album would be one that has been long awaited and will be long remembered in a wistful, lonely sort of way--perhaps because the love was fleeting and forbidden, or because the lovers were for some other reason forced apart again. The sentiment of "L'Appuntimento" is warm and heartfelt, but the songs are presented in a laid back, semi-New-Age manner that makes it as appropriate for relaxation or cathartic reflection as for a romantic, candle-lit liason. Besides guitarist Baldassare, the other musicians on this Brussels-produced CD are Mark Steylaerts on violin, Karel Steylaerts on cello, Sabine Warner on flute, and Brigid Boden on wordless vocal descants. For other warm, moody, romantic music, try also "Deep Heart's Core" by Kate Price, "Gratitude" by Kim Robertson and Virginia Kron, and anything by Bill Douglas, Calverly, Secret Garden, or Tingstad and Rumbel.
