Probably the best album from the Flux.......2006-11-28

A fierce Anarcho Punk Band, Flux of Pink Indians were a great band but not that great. this band, Rudimentary Peni, Conflict, Crass, etc. were all in the crass label and I consider these guys to be part of the "Crass Team." Flux sounds like Crass except with a different lead singer. Tube Disaster, Some of us scream some of us shout, and Take Heed are the best songs on this disc.

Bought this CD when it first came out. I love it. Flux of Pink Indians really take you back musically to the ages of Rudimentary Peni and Crass. This is the ideal FoPI album to get if you're trying to decide which one to buy. Favorite song is Sick Butchers.

This is one of the greatest,rawest,in your face anarcho-political albums of all times.It combines Crass-like
topics-in a little less emphatical way -with corrosive hardcore punk,
full of guitar feedback and shouting ,characteristic of this style.There are,nonetheless,some twisted melodic lines
along,which gives this band their unique and peculiar sound.I really can't reccomend this highly enough,and if you
can put up with some less than perfect sound,¨Live Statement¨features all of these songs at a live performance in Nottingham,versions being even rawer,especially the singing.Bear in mind,though,Strive...has a rather uneven tonal quality to it,so an equalizer is mandatory to unleash the astonishingly authoritative drumming delivered by the
drummer,it does'nt get better than this,mind you

This cd took a few good listens to get into it. But i did notice all the feedback they put in there songs get annoying as hell. They have a unique sound..its worth a listen to what the bands of today were influenced by. I enjoy this way more then all them punkcore record (...).

Outstanding singing.......2003-07-13

No matter what Gene sings he can't be beat. This is another example of what a voice he has and how well he uses it. I especially like the expressions in the song "Just in Case."
No money lost in this purchase.

EXCELLENT CD.......2002-01-01

This cd is excellent. The song "Someone's Child" is another example of why Gene Watson is one of the best country artists singing today.

Jesus Is All I Need.......2000-11-04

This is one of my favorite Gene Watson albums. His cousin, Bobbi Bost wrote a number of the gospel songs on the album and , Gene, definately does them justice. It was nice to see new material rather than all the same hymns. Very nicely done, with beautiful harmony by two of his sisters. I hope Gene records more of God's music, as he sure can sing it.

Seems a lot of folks find Golijov shallow and it's easy to qualify. One example: he goes to that ululated falling second degree business so often when he wants pathos that it becomes a cliche. That's calculation.
On the other hand, accusations of phoniness and pretension can hardly be qualified. It's just name-calling, like right-wing talk radio.

Interesting sampler.......2006-06-13

This cd offers a snapshot of the downtown New York classical scene of the early 90s, played by one of the great new music chamber groups, the Bang on a Can All-Stars.
I find the preceding comment about "phoniness" suspect in that such accusations have little to do with the music at hand, but rather are borne of some personal resentment. It says nothing. What exactly is it that you find phony? What do you think genuine is?

Perhaps not a record to play with your first cup of tea of the day, Flux's first album is nevertheless a tour de force of the first wave of punk - one of the glorious last gasps of the period. Having said that, be warned that Flux were purists who, if anything, made a giant leap for the punk genre into hardcore. The disarmingly captivating feature of their music is in the combination of catchy & clever songwriting with a merciless onslaught of drawning guitars that will either leave you floored or force you to leave the room. In a way, this album can be compared to Husker Du's "New Day Rising," where a distinct melodic sensibility is matched with a mudslide of distortion, where two seemingly incompatible approaches collide to create a truly new experience. The style is a statement in itself, never mind the fact that Flux engage topics such as the nuclear energy in their own uncompromising ways (which may be blunt but never banal). Add to this a backdrop of anarchist working class attitudes and we have one of the few genuinely revolutionary albums of Punk that doesn't lose credibility with the passing of years. Anybody in search of artistic position over pose, both in form and content, should see this as one of the spikiest thorns in the crown of Punk.

Punk is for punx...basically, in those words, Flux of Pink Indians make their statement loud. With such problems such as nuclear waste, and many more, addressed in their grainy, yet beautifully put together sound, FOPI plays it to the max! I recommend this album to all punk/oi!/harcore or open minded music fans worldwide!
