great funky cd. the guy at a&b suggested it when he saw the pile of cd's i was buying.
from french electronic, disco to deep south blues this group knows how to kick back... and groove. if you like cafe del mar stuff or zero 7 id pick this one up too.

Kind of Cool is the wrong title for an album that caputures the humid warm quality of medeterranian and subtropic athmosphere. As you close your eyes you walk the boulevards of italy brazil or the dark nightclubs of new orleans. A wonderfull rich CD.

Album Details

Ange Is, No Doubt About It, the Most Popular of the French Progressive Rock Bands. Its Music is Based on Christian Decamps's Unmistakable and Melodramatic Voice, his Brother Francis's Powerful Organ Sounds as Well as on the Development of Energetic and Intense Medieval Lines. The Line-up Invented Its Own Style, Both Epic and Delirious, and that Blends Madness, Emotions and Exacerbated Feelings. This Poetic and Typically French Rock was Noticeable from the Band's Beginnings in 1969, and Then Got More Formal on "Caricatures", their First Album Issued Three Years Later. "le Cimetière Des Arlequins" Came Out Twelve Months Before the Three Most Appreciated Progressive Rock Albums of the Decamps Brothers. "au-delà Du Délire" was Issued in 1974, "Emile Jacotey" in 1975 and "Par Les Fils De Mandrin" in 1976. Chill out at its best.......2002-08-15

I first heard a radio advert to this record and it sounded very nice. It was on VOXX, a different radio station broadcast in Lisbon and Oporto. I gave it a try and bought it. It's superb, 2 cds of the finest chill out meets drum & bass.
Opening the 1st cd is "Do You" by herself Yen Sung (which has now been remixed by one of the members of Basement Jaxx). "Do You" is a journey, a journey to the celestial world of pure music, where you just forget everything and life is beautiful, the perfect song for you to (try) forget that bad moments exist.
Probably one of the finest compilations of the year, and isn't it strange as it came out in Portugal? Try it and taste.
