Thom Jayne was born in Seattle, but by the time he was 15, had moved six times through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Connecticut, and Maryland. He picked up the guitar from a babysitter, and was soon playing flamenco by day under the Greek master A. Mavreas, and Led Zeppelin by night with a local band. After playing in the rock band Pariah, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and with a bluegrass band in Seattle, he sold everything but his guitar and moved to the jungles of Ghana in West Africa at 24. Now he travels four times a year to such places as the Yucatan, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Thom is currently collaborating with the Zambian pop star, Ballard Zulu, in a compilation of African-flamenco-Pink Floyd-inspired compositions.
"The Forgotten Conquest" is a musical treat, full of experimental sounds and rhythms that create vivid pictures.
