Kylie Minogue has had a ton of catchy tunes, but "Love At First Sight" is head-and-shoulders above the rest. It absolutely rocks!!!!!!

I personally think she has done better CDs than this. By the way, this is the 'Love At First Sight' American ALBUM, not a single.

5 out of 5 stars The Music You Were Playing Really Blew My Mind..........2002-10-28

The third smash international single from Kylie Minogue's smash album "Fever", is the second track promoted to America as a single. Climbing into the top 40, it was Kylie's fifth top 40 hit, following the top ten success of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". This Australian CD-Maxi release of the single is probably the best put together of the international releases, this package contains the b-sides and mixes that were released on two seperate pressings in the UK.
The b-sides of the single are wonderful, the first being a new version of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", filtered through New Order's classic single "Blue Monday." This new "Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head" is probably even better than the pop gem of the original. Next up is the great "Baby". An incredibly strong bonus tune, it could have easily made the album, and it did, as it's also available on the Japanese issue of the "Fever" album.
Next up is a trio of mixes, the best being the dance pop makeover by Twin. It keeps the pop feel of the song, but still manages to club the song up a bit. A nearly ten minute Ruff & Jam remix also holds it's own, providing a perfect mix to lose yourself in on the dancefloor. The only dud is the Scumfrog edit, a dark thumping mix, it really doesn't fit the song as well as the other mixes, and despite being in a bite-size edit format, it's still hard to swallow. Despite the one flawed mix, this package is excellent, and perfect for the fans of this song.

5 out of 5 stars Destined To Be A Kylie Classic.......2002-08-17

Since the smash-hit No.1 single Can't Get You Out Of My Head from September 2001, Kylie Minogue has enjoyed her biggest success since 1988. Can't Get You Out Of My Head sold more than 1,150,000 copies last year to become the 3rd biggest seller of 2001. The No.1 album Fever has sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the UK (8,000,000 worldwide) and the hit single In Your Eyes hit No.3 in February. Her sold out European tour kicked off in spectacular fashion in April 2002 and has yet to finish. Love At First Sight is the third single from the amazing album Fever. My Love At First Sight single is the UK Version and features three songs and a video.

1. Love At First Sight (10/10) - This has to be one of Kylie's greatest singles ever. Not as strong as Can't Get You Out Of My Head, but catchier and stronger than In Your Eyes. Shame it wont get to No.1 because of that Elvis tune.

2. Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head (10/10) - This stunning remix of the No.1 single is (dare I say?!) better than the original. This was the version she performed at the Brit Awards 2002 in THAT skimpy white mini-dress. The 9 or 10 fasts beats are so cool and catchy (I think it's 9 - they go so fast I can't count!).

3. Baby (10/10) - This amazing song was included on some Import versions of Fever. I just don't understand why it wasn't included on the UK edition!!! It's just so catchy; "ba, ba, ba/ba, ba, ba, ba, ba". I know that doesn't give much away about the song - but remember Cant Get You Out Of my Head? You loved the "la,la,la"'s on that didn't ya?! Eh? Eh? Eh?

4. Love At First Sight (Enhanced Video) (10/10) - The video to Love At First Sight is absolutely amazing!!! Much better than the In Your Eyes video. I love the white lines all over the screen and the way the camera never changes from one shot to another - it stays focused on Kylie or the dancers all the time. She looks a bit dizzy and smitten in the video - so much so that she forgets she has her thong hanging out!!! And what is with the blue eyeshadow. Two words Kylie: "Ask somebody"!!!

The whole of this CD is fantastic - apart from the sticker. I like to peel stickers off and now I can't because it doesn't say who it's by on the CD cover!!!

3 out of 5 stars GREAT SONG BUT AVERAGE CD.......2002-07-22

A new single from Kylie's excellent album. 'Love at first sight' is a song that gets you right from the start and keeps you feel alive long time after you have heard the song.

Kylie has demonstrated that it is possible to make dance music for dance and general people without filling tracks with loud beats all along the time.

Though the song is very good and the song 'Baby' is interesting too, the remixes of the title track don't do justice to the original song. So you'd better go to thew album if you haven't already got it.

If you have the album, there is not anything essential in this CD that you haven't heard before.

4 out of 5 stars One of the Best for Someone With The Church-Bug.......2001-06-20

This is a disc only for those who have listened to stuff from The Church before and have decided that they definitely like this band. Start with one of the numerous Church compilations that are out today if you don't have any of their stuff yet, or start with Starfish as most people do. This disc is a compilation of leftovers from the band between 1986 and 1990, i.e. the height of their commercial popularity. "Texas Moon" will leave you intensely wondering why it was not a BIG commercial hit song. "Anna Miranda" is the demo song that evolved into most people's favorite Church song "Under the Milky Way". Two other songs highlight the magic that keeps serious Church fans hooked. "Forgotten Reign" and "The Feast" are two unknown songs radio-wise that standout by showing the chemistry between the lyrics and the instrumentation. The opening notes of "Forgotten Reign" are hypnotic to me and must be heard a few times to see if you agree.

Wait til you have determined you dig this still-in-business band band but, once you know you like them, this disc MUST BE HAD!

3 out of 5 stars Er, uh, good!.......1999-10-04

Quick Smoke is like any other bands b-side collection: some of it is gold while some of it borders on negligable. But still, a church fan, like myself, would like this.

4 out of 5 stars Summary of B sides and single tracks from 1986 to 1990's.......1999-09-26

Most bands would be happy with the b sides The Church put out. This fine collection puts together most of the band's best b sides from their most successful period (post Heyday/Under The Milky Way).

While this collection could have been a little more comprehensive (it's missing two key b sides from the band's biggest single Under the Milky Way), it's a very good compilation and companion piece to the new Under The Milky Way greatest hits compilation that just came out.

5 out of 5 stars They WERE Better Live.......2005-08-03

I am a huge fan of this band : Weddings Parties Anyting. But until the start of this year I had never heard of them! I am very very glad I know them now.

WPA are an Australian Folk/Rock band, and one of the most passionate bands I have ever seen. 'They Were Better Live' solidifies that fact. All 32 tracks are full of energy and have fantastic vocals, some of the best lyrics I have ever heard and amazing music (especially from Jen Anderson on the violin).

Highlight tracks for me are 'Barrett's Privateers' - a sea shanty, 'Sisters of Mercy' - very different from the heard on 'Roaring Days', 'Sergeant Small' and 'Woman of Ireland'- always amusing, 'Grey Skies Over Collingwood' and 'A Tale They Won't Believe' - always will be my favourite WPA song. There are more of course but I would go on forever.

This 2-disc CD is a must have for a fan, lovers of Irish/Australian/folk music and anyone who wants some cheery music full of clear talent and I give it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Wherever...they were always better live.......2004-02-10

"If you could get a pie a WPA gig would be better than the footy" as one fan has aptly put it Weddings Parties Anything were rarely anything worse than very good whether playing to a couple of dozen punters or beer soaked halls in their home country. Featuring one of the great Australian singer/songwriters in Mick Thomas (Paul Kelly alone is in his class) and a changing but ever talented ensemble WPA could lift the roof off and set the floor rattling with songs like "Its A Tale They Won't Believe" or "Roaring Days" and tear the hearts out of the audience with ballads like "Step in, Step Out", "For A Short Time" and "Laughing Boy". Mick Thomas is touring solo or with his new band the Sure Thing and doing great new material but its a sure thing that these days on the WPA farewell tour won't be seen again. Full value for the price of admission with nary a soul leaving before fulltime. Chonk on!

5 out of 5 stars Made every other live gig I've seen seem like a funeral!.......2001-12-09

First saw these guys as opening act to U2 and BB King at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and was blown away. As soon as U2 finished, I raced over to the Petersham Inn gig (mentioned in the liner notes) to see these guys for the 2nd time that night and I have been a devoted follower ever since. Mick Thomas' voice - particularly on "Streets of Forbes" - is pure intensity and the band are right behind him. Too many highlights on this album to list, any self-respecting Aussie must buy this, but anyone who appreciates their rock mixed with a bit of dip of the lid to folk/country/story-telling and a dash of punk will get goosebumps over this.

5 out of 5 stars "...They Were Better Live".......2001-01-27

Ah. This CD was great...I can't listen to their studio albums now because this album made everything appear so plain. This is a must get for a WPA fan..Micks heavy australian voice is the guiding force in the CD...it's a joy to listen to :-)

    5 out of 5 stars They Were.......2000-06-24

The title says it all. Despite having recorded 7 great studio albums and a bunch of wonderful EPs, Weddings Parties Anything were so much more in front of an audience.

This double album was recorded just a week before the band played their final gig; they were in their home town, and in full swing as they belted out live favourites including "Ticket in Tatts" (you can hear the 10 cent pieces falling among the band).

Forget Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense", Ani Difranco's "Living In Clip" and Simon & Garfunkel's "Live in Central Park", this is the best live album ever.

5 out of 5 stars Great remixes and new tracks.......2005-03-31

This is the Australian edition of Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue's 'Love At First Sight' single and it includes 6 very good tracks. (Love At First Sight hit #3 in Australia and #2 in the UK)

The first track is... Love At First Sight (Original Version). It's such a good track from Kylie's Fever album and was one of the gems.

The second track is Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head. This is a remix of Can't Get You Out Of My Head. I don't understand why it wasn't on the original version of the Fever album! It was on the special 2-disc edition, though.

The third track is Baby. This was included on certain versions of the Fever album - but why not the original?! It is such a good track!

Track four - six are all remixes. They are all worth listening to. The Ruff'n'Jam mix is a 9 and a half minute club mix. The scumfrog mix is a 4 and a half minute dub mix. The Twin MasterPlan Mix is a 6 minute club-based track.

This song and particular edition of the Love At First Sight single is excellent and the aussie version is a must-have!

5 out of 5 stars Blue Monday Never Sounded Soo Good!.......2002-07-14

I saw a commercial for Kylie's new album "Fever" when I was in London. It was then that I got a Kylie-High, and kept my eyes open for anything relating to her new album.
I picked up this single when I was at Virgin Records in Paris. It seems that in order to get remixes of your favorite songs, you must special get them from other countries. I even saw this same single on a 12" vinyl! I thought such things were non-existant!
Well the tracks on this single are "Love at First Sight" and "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head." The Blue Monday is just the "Can't Get You Out of My Head" but with a different beat and background music. I like it much better than the original. It's more upbeat and you don't get bored with hearing her go la la la. Even if you already have her album, I'd recommend getting this single for the remix.

3 out of 5 stars Energetic, guitar oriented britpop.......1999-04-04

wojtek is a stupid name, but apart from that this is an inoffensive, lively pop album with predictably poor lyrics but moments of almost powerful brit pop and jumpie-up-and-downie type rock.
