Ella at her best. A great follow-up to other collaborations with Joe Pass.

5 out of 5 stars Tennessee Waltz.......2005-02-10

Fabulous!!! I may be a little partial to this particular song...Redd Stewart, co-writer of "Tennessee Waltz" was my dad!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Of Ella and Pass.......2001-06-22

I had the pleasure of knowing Joe Pass in the last days of his life, and he considered this to be his best work with Ella Fitzgerald. It is the only album they did together where he used an accoustic guitar, and the subtle shadings found here cannot be matched in their other work.

As for Ella's voice, it is the most controlled and inspired of their four studio albums. All of these albums were done with no rehearsal, giving both Ella and Joe a chance for true spontaneous improvisation. The song choices are excellent, and I especially recommend "Nature Boy" for the most unusual tune the two ever did together.

5 out of 5 stars Fitzgerald & Pass...Again.......2001-01-27

Spontaneous interaction & improvisation among musicians is a characteristic inherent to jazz music. Although Joe Pass was originally known for his ability to play solo guitar, on "Fitzgerald & Pass...Again" the spontaneous interaction between Pass and Fitzgerald in this duo format allows jazz fans to witness group improvisation at its most rudimentary level - that between a singer and an instrumentalist. The telepathic communication between Pass' acoustic guitar and Fitzgerald's vocals can be powerfully felt because there is no other accompaniment to interfere. This is beautiful music and jazz artistry of the highest quality. Hear two masters at their finest. Five stars.

5 out of 5 stars Fitzgerald & Pass are wonderful together..........2000-04-05

This is another fine session by jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald and jazz guitarist Joe Pass. Fitzgerald and Pass performed together for the 1st time at the Playboy jazz festival in the early 70's, and the response was so great that Norman Granz founder of Pablo Records had them go straight to the studio to cut their 1st Lp "Take Love Easy." Fitzgerald and Pass Again.. is their second album of four. It is on of the best(though all four are worth getting) it includes a classic scat vocal version of "Rain" an actually swinging version of "Tennessee Waltz" as well as many other jazz standrds sung with swing and feeling. This is a very intimate and special session essentail to all jazz collectors, as well as casual Fitzgerald fans. Essental music.
