Saturday Night Fever: Themes from the Musical (Instrumental)

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Grant Geissman joins the Brad Ellis Little Big Band and the Terry Trotter Trio in Varèse Sarabande's ongoing series of instrumental versions of Broadway shows. While the other albums in the series covered more traditional Broadway scores, Geissman's assignment is Saturday Night Fever, which was transformed from movie to musical for the London stage and made it to Broadway in the fall of 1999. The score includes most of the hits from the film, as well as a few other Bee Gees hits, presented here in safe, standard arrangements for guitars, keyboards, and horns by the multitalented Geissman and friends. If the idea of Bee Gees as background music sounds appealing, then this disc just might be for you. --David Horiuchi

2 out of 5 stars Hit the Snooze Button.......2002-08-17

Wish I had read the other reviews before I bought this. I was ready for some high energy dance music but what I got was a Kenny G sounding soft jazz soundtrack. Not at all what I expected. If you are feeling mellow, or too old for your disco shoes, this is the CD for you. I would leave my name but I'm too embarassed to admit I now own this CD.

3 out of 5 stars Muzak Lover's will be happy.......1999-12-27

I saw this show on the London Stage and was blown away. Bought this CD cause I thought it was an original cast recording. Sadly it is not. If you like disco a la Lawrence Welk, you will be very happy with this CD. All instrumental, no vocals. Good background music for a quiet dinner party.
