While the original version of Company is still indispensable for any self-respecting Broadway fan, this London revival directed by Sam Mendes has enough sharp edges to make it a welcome addition. The anger underlining "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" is more forceful than ever (especially with loud-and-clear interjections like "son of a bitch!"), and the small orchestra plays with uncommon energy. As Robert/Bobby, Adrian Lester injects new resonance into a character usually perceived as being passive: "Barcelona" features some particularly good acting, while "Marry Me a Little is touchingly tender. This version doesn't rank as high as the original one (what could?) but it's more interesting than the 1995 Broadway revival. --Elisabeth Vincentelli --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

To gauge the magnitude of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's popularity in his native Hawaii, consider this: following his death in 1997 (at age 38, attributed to his profound obesity), Kamakawiwo'ole's body lay in state in the state capitol, only the second person to receive such an honor. Kamakawiwo'ole's appeal lies in his love for prestatehood, precondominium Hawaii and the expressiveness of his gently passionate voice, which can float through higher registers with an ease that brings Johnny Mathis to mind. Several selections ("Ka Pua U'i," "White Sandy Beach of Hawai'i," the sun-kissed "La 'Elima") feature Kamakawiwo'ole in a traditional mood, using only his ukulele to adorn the charm of his native lyricism. Others, such as the Jimmy Buffett-like "Maui Hawaiian Sup'pa Man" add playful contemporary touches that suit Kamakawiwo'ole's style. Most touching are the string-backed laments that open and close the album, "Hawai'i '78 Introduction" and "Hawai'i '78," initially a reflection on his father's death, later on the passing of Hawaii's native culture. I got this CD for my dad for fathers day and he just LOVES it. He listens to it all the time and brings it with him to play at family events. I recommend it for anyone looking for fun but relaxing music, its really perfect for any gathering.

I first heard this song by IZ "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at the end of the movie "Fifty First Dates" and I liked it. Then I heard it over the intercom at work. At that time, I did not know who sang it but I liked it so much I searched the net and found it here on Amazon. I love the music and the way he put the 2 songs together, it's very soothing and Israel had a wonderful voice. This is one of those tunes that stays in my head forever. I love the cd even if I only listen to that one song. Sometimes my 6 year old granddaughter asks me to hear my "Rainbow Song"!

This man has the most beautiful voice, spirit and soul. I received the CD in the mail yesterday 6/26/07. That day marked 10yrs that IZ had passed -the sun was out and it rained for 5 minutes...there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

I understand the marketing side of wanting to expand IZ's presence (and get more dollars), but shame on de Mello for insulting Hawaiians and all that IZ stands for. The orchestra add-on was way overdone in my opinion... if you're into "The Little Mermaid" sound, then this is probably for you, but if you're looking for more of IZ's sweet voice and beautiful, clean sounds of ukulele, don't bother buying this CD. You'll be disappointed.

I was anxious to purchase this CD, after reading about the technology, etc., used to produce this CD. I like the overall quality of the product, but did not appreciate the fact that the "Ahi wela" verse was left out of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star!", the verse that all of us keiki Hawaiians heard from our mothers, and memorized as soon as we could sing. Also, leaving "Somewhere over the rainbow" out of "Wonderful World" in my opinion was a huge mistake. But I have the original versions of these songs, so I feel ok about the final product, notwithstanding the comments mentioned above.

By pairing Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's timeless vocals with orchestral arrangements, producer Jon de Mello clearly seeks to continue the expansion of Hawaiian music's reach in the music industry and with music lovers throughout the world. He has succeeded mightily in allowing more listeners for whom Hawaiian music is an anachronism to appreciate the universal quality of Hawaiian music in general and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole in particular. Israel's voice has never sounded better and as he says, "you'll never meet another Hawaiian like IZ".

This is a nice version of Israel's music heard in a whole different light. My wife and I fell in love with the music of Iz when we married in Hawaii a couple of years ago and I just purchased this for her birthday. I was concerned with the adverse reviews before we'd even heard it, but they did a great job of not overly orchestrating it... it's a different but refreshing remake of some Iz classics and some I've never heard.

This was the first Israel Kamakawiwo'ole cd I had listened to. I think despite the fact that at least one of the songs (Mona Lisa) wasn't finished it's an excellent CD. The song "Somewhere over the Rainbow" is a beautiful Hawaiian rendition of an old Classic. The CD is lighthearted, fun, and introspective at times, offering a track with audio from Iz talking about his battle with obesity (something hardcore Iz fans might enjoy). The word: if you have all of his CD's and love IZ get this one, if this is your first purchase, buy another and work your way up to this one later.

This is a special type of recording that not everyone would care for. It is what I would call a Kamaaina type of CD; i.e., if you like down home Hawaiian style, it's great. Having lived in HI for over 18 yrs, I really dig it. The reason I say this is that it's the type of recording that's rather "off-the-wall." There's false starts, talking and just plain uke strumming and picking up words as he goes along, but it's real. These are recordings as they actually happened rather than having been rehearsed. For those that have sat around a bonfire eating pig and poi, listening to uke players, I'm sure they will enjoy it!

The tracks on this album are beautiful from Iz's rendition of "Mona Lisa" to the now familiar "Over the Rainbow". What is most haunting is hearing Iz speaking on several tracks, especially his views about death and losing his family members. A definite must have.

I love this cd. I've owned it for over 5 years. I bought this copy for my mom, whom adores his version of "Over the Rainbow". If you ever want to mentally transport yourself to Hawaii, this is the way. Love it!

Since I am not from Hawaii I don't profess to identify with the political and cultural aspects of IZ's music, so all I can really say is that I find IZ's music just plain nice to listen to, especially when its just him and his uke. Need to relax, need to kick back and drift away to the Islands then this will do it for you. Get rid of the pills and pick up a dose of IZ to calm the tensions of the day. Of course you'll have to resist going out to purchase a one way ticket to Hawaii.....or will you?

There may be no original Broadway cast recording more iconic than 1970's Company, with its funky organ sound and Elaine Stritch's not-quite-there high notes, but the December 2006 Broadway revival makes its own mark. For Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's piece about a single man observing the benefits and follies of marriage, director John Doyle borrows the same controversial concept he used for his 2005 Sweeney Todd: the actors playing instruments on stage (now referred to in many circles as "Doyle-izing," and not always with affection and delight). But when you're listening to a cast recording, as Bobby would say: What do you get? For one thing, you'll have to adjust to some different sounds created by Doyle and his music supervisor, Mary-Mitchell Campbell. It's a benefit in "Side by Side by Side," which begins with a jazzy double-bass line. It's a drawback in "You Could Drive a Person Crazy," in which the trio's doo-doots are replaced by their saxophone lines. You also get "Marry Me a Little," cut from the original show but by now very familiar and welcome, as well as a lot of the contextual dialogue before, between, and even within numbers. Finally, the strong cast led by Raul Esparza makes this the best-sung Company we've ever gotten (and they play very well too), and Stephen Sondheim's score is still a landmark in musical theater. There will never be a replacement for the original Broadway cast recording, but this revival recording can stand on its own and in some respects may be more flat-out enjoyable to listen to. --David Horiuchi

The Company cast album is produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker (Sondheim's The Frogs, Saturday Night, Assassins, and Sweeney Todd, among others). Along with Company, Nonesuch has also released the original cast album to Doyle's 2006 production of Sweeney Todd and the Tony-nominated A Light in the Piazza, which features a score by Nonesuch artist Adam Guettel.

Don't think, just because you have all the other versions of 'Company', you can do without this version. It has additional dialogue and superior sound. Highly recommended!

I fell in love with this show when I saw it in NYC and I promptly bought the cast recording upon my return. This was one of those shows that I'm sure will resonate with me for the rest of my life. Although the show doesn't seem to make much sense by listening to the cast recording, you understand what its about and even though this show was written more than 40 years ago, its still relevant today. The theme of marriage and domestic partnership is still something that remains in the minds of all people; whether married or single. This cd airs out all of the thoughts that we all have likely heard or felt in our lifetime.
This cd is truly beautiful and by far one of my favorite Broadway cast recordings of all time.

I am going to assume for a moment that anybody reading this and the other reviews is already a fan of Sondheim and Company. I am also going to assume that most people reading this are familiar with multiple recordings of this show and, hopefully, multiple performances. This is the best and truest means of judging a show, its score, and its recordings. Of course this isn't always possible, but in regards to this show, I have to say this new recording of Company is probably the weakest of the bunch ESPECIALLY after first seeing the show live. I also saw the "Doyle" Sweeney last year and think the new orchestrations were brilliant and translate well to recording. Imagine my surprise when I recently saw the new Company and found it to not only equal but SURPASS the impact of the Sweeney staging. I had purposely delayed the purchase of the new cast recording until I had first seen the show live and unfortunately the CD doesn't contain the excitement, originality, and freshness that was portrayed by the actor/musicians on stage. I think Company is nearly the ideal show for this minimalistic approach but on the recording, it just seems... empty? The listener is also drawn to shortcomings in the musical performances (instrumentally) that I didn't notice (or forgave) when I was in the theatre because the experience in and of itself was so moving and direct. I also don't want to get caught up in an argument of whether this is the best sung version or not, because it all depends on your personal preference/prejudice. The singers in this show may be the best *trained* from a technical standpoint, but the passion portrayed by the singers of the OBC will never be paralleled. All in all this is a decent recording but certainly not definitive and not the one I would recommend to someone who has never heard the show before.

If you're a Sondheim fan, or if you just like lyrics that challenge the listener, this version of COMPANY is a must. I saw this production on Cincinatti before it moved to Broadway, and it was perhaps the most enjoyable theater experience I've had. The soundtrack is a great listen, even if it's all familiar, much of it having been covered by other artists since the show's first soundtrack in 1970. It all builds to a powerful emotional climax when Raul Esparza sits down at the piano and sings "Being Alive". Magical. Buy it--you won't be sorry, only grateful...

As fans of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy know, each film exists in two versions: the theatrical one and the extended one that appeared on DVD. This luxurious box set--which also comes with a detailed essay on the movie's musical themes--features the full extended score, so many cues not on the CDs of the individual movies are included. Granted, the majority of listeners will be perfectly happy with the shorter versions of the scores--it's a safe bet that most people can live without hearing, say, Ian McKellen's 35-second-long ditty "The Road Goes Ever On" at the beginning of "Bag End," or Viggo Mortensen's performance of his own composition, "The Song of Lúthien," within the track "The Nazgûl." But if you're a completist and/or a devotee of Howard Shore's pounding tympani and overwhelming choral compositions (featured particularly prominently on disc 3, a large chunk of which is devoted to a battle scene), then this set is a dream come true. I picked up this set because I am both a LOTR fan, movies and books and I need music to help me work. There are some tracks that I skipped over, like the short little ditties in the bar, but many of the songs, such as the Elvish chants are easy to get lost in - its just too bad they don't last longer. The packaging really is well done, though the DVD disc was loose when I received it in the mail, but unharmed. I will have to wait until the price on the second set comes down a little more, but I can't wait for ROTK.

This CD collection is wonderful; it has much of the material from the movie that was only included in the extended edition DVD, but it is far from complete. While it does have the complete version of "The Passing of the Elves" and two versions of "The Road Goes Ever On", many of the songs are highly incomplete and inferior to the originals. "Aniron," the theme for Aragorn and Arwen performed by Enya, is incomplete and the lyrics are hard to match to what is being sung. The sound quality for this song is even worse on the accompanying DVD, which is supposed to have all of the music in "superior sound". The song "Prophecy" is reduced to two barely-audible lines and "May It Be" is shortened and different than the original. $60 for this when there are more complete songs on the original soundtrack is ridiculous.

I realy can't add to what others have said about this set, the music is simply the best LOTR soundtrack collection out there! It is all here, and the contents of this set will make any LOTR fan happy and the music DVD is a great one disc addition if you want to hear the entire score in one sitting (to which I have done a number of times already).
My only complaint is the somewhat flimsy cardboard box that houses the contents of this musical treasure. Mine came damaged, and considering the price, I expected better packaging. This is a minor quabble on my part and NO, I havent returned it due to the fact that the music itself Is what I truly treasure, It just would have been nicer to have recieved it undamaged.

We discovered Iz while in Hawaii this past January. We have purchased all 6 of his CD's and all three of his DVD's. He has a beautiful voice, sense of humor, and love of his heritage and Hawaii. I just wish he was still with us to share himself. He is singing to God now and what a beautiful sound that must be. Thanks Iz for giving us your love and appreciation of Hawaii and what it means to the Hawaiian people.

5 out of 5 stars I'd say by far his best album........2006-05-14

Though all of his albums are recommended, no Israel Kamakawiwo'ole collection is complete without "In Dis Life." This album, I believe, is his best ever, despite the fact that it doesn't have his "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" medley on it. If you are looking for that particular song buy "Facing Future."

As for the selections on this CD, I particularly enjoy the title song, "Wai'alae," and his rendition of the Hawaiian Style Band's "Living in a Sovereign Land." The contemporary tunes show a different side of him. "'Opae E" has been a favorite of mine forever. I also like his jazzy rendition of "Aloha Ku'u Pua" and his medley of "Na Ka Puio" and "Keyhole Hula," otherwise known as "Kauoha Mai."

The only song that I think is just okay is "Yokozuna," at least for now, but maybe it'll grow on me eventually. I don't hate it though, just not one of my favorites. Maybe that's just because I would choose Hawaiian language songs over contemporary if I had to make a choice.

Please get this CD as well as all his others.

I remember the year Braddah Iz died,I live in Waianae and it was a shock to the people of Hawaii.I remember the day of his funeral his ashes were scattered out to sea with his brother Skippy,people came from all over the island traffic was horrid,but it was for the love of the music this one man brought. I have lived most of my life in Hawaii,and have gotten to known the Hawaiian culture and music,my children are Hawaiian and have been blessed to been brought up with this man's music.Braddah Iz will always be apart of the Hawaiian aina, and culture and his music is still listened too this day........ God Bless Braddah Iz...and his family.

My wife and I heard IZ for the first time while on our honeymoon back in June 1997 while on a Helicopter Ride over Kauai. The pilot was playing his music over our headset as background music. At the time we didn't even realize how nice the music was and didn't think to ask the pilot who was singing.

Several days later we were in a shop and once again I heard his voice over the stores speakers and had to have the CD. This is classic Hawaiian music that brings me back to Hawaii every time I hear his music...and that is far since I live in New York.

Several years later I looked him up on the Internet and was heartbroken to learn he passed away...a week after we left Hawaii. I have purchased every CD as well as DVD's that have become available.

IZ died with a huge heart and the world has lost a great singer that believed in Hawaii and the land that was meant to be. You would be surprise to hear how many times you hear his music in movies, commercials and shows. A performer that will be remembered forever.

The fact that Genius Loves Company will be Ray Charles's final new album inspires an unavoidable blue feeling. But it's also a happy reminder that the man spent the last months of his life at work doing what he loved. The overall effect of these dozen duets is autumnal and smooth. Brother Ray is on point and cruising here. Fine moments abound--you can hear his delight even in the rather stiff company of Diana Krall and Natalie Cole. His voice sounds a bit frayed by ill health at times, but it also allows for great performances like the slyness behind the ache in his version of the old soul hit "Hey Girl" with Michael McDonald and a grand "Crazy Love" with Van Morrison. Potently, he and Gladys Knight remind us of the continued timeliness of Stevie Wonder's "Heaven Help Us All." When I was a kid, I was privileged to grow up with great music always playing in the house. From my grandfather I inherited a love for classical, and for country when it was still "country and western." From my dad, though, I inherited my appreciation for Ray Charles.

At the time, I was listening to a lot of soul, like Smokey Robinson and Otis Redding, and rock, like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. After hearing a record of "What'd I Say" and "Hit the Road Jack," I asked my father what kind of music that was. "That's Ray Charles," he told me. I told him I wanted to know what kind of music he was playing. He gave me the same answer.

It took me a while to understand what he was getting at. Charles's music was beyond category; it was his own invention, completely and utterly sui generis.

Take, for instance, his now-classic arrangement of "America the Beautiful." My grade school music teacher actually thought I was unpatriotic because I couldn't stand the standard version of the song. But it wasn't the words I had a problem with--only the juvenile, sing-song meter: I thought the song wasn't fit to be representing my country. Years later, after I left the Army, I saw Charles on television performing "America the Beautiful" before a baseball game. Using a gospel rhythm on his piano and singing off the backbeat, he transformed it into something so magnificently inspired that he made it all his own--and one of my all-time favorites. I guess that's why he's called, not "a genius," but "The Genius."

Charles died in 2004 at the age of seventy-three. His last work, Genius Loves Company, an album of duets, was a labor of love by an incomparable artist who knew his days were numbered. It was in the tradition of other famous duet releases, beginning in 1991 with Natalie Cole's Unforgettable: With Love--the remarkable album featuring studio-engineered duets with her deceased father, Nat King Cole--and followed by star-studded duet albums from Frank Sinatra (1993) and Tony Bennett (Playin' with My Friends, 2001).

Genius Loves Company opens strong, with Charles's country/blues hit from the 1960s, "Here We Go Again"--this time a collaboration with Grammy-winning newcomer Norah Jones. There's a cover with Diana Krall of Eddy Arnold's country classic "You Don't Know Me," which Charles also recorded in 1962. On this take, the lyrics are parsed at just the right points, letting Krall's satiny vocals work off Charles's gravelly blues. For a duet with Willie Nelson on the Sinatra classic "It Was a Very Good Year," the two old-timers barely sing, but rather narrate the lyrics, much like Jimmy Durante, or Walter Huston in his performance of "September Song." On "Sinner's Prayer" B.B. King is along for the ride with his beloved Lucille. With King's scorching guitar work a perfect counterpoint to the staccato rhythms of Ray's chords, and Billy Preston backing up on the Hammond organ, this is the album's strongest cut. A finger-snapping rendition of "Fever" with Natalie Cole and an a cappella gospel take on "Crazy Love" with Van Morrison round out this solid effort.

Although Charles passed away before Genius Loves Company was released, he must have known that he was going out on top. While recording the album, he worked with director Taylor Hackford and actor Jamie Foxx on the biopic of his life story, Ray. At the 2005 Grammy awards Genius Loves Company walked off with all the important trophies, and Foxx took home the best actor Academy Award for his uncanny portrayal of the legendary musician.

Okay, it's a cliché, but it's still true: Ray Charles may be gone, but his music will be with us forever.

Ray Charles by himself is genius, but to pair up with some of musics most distinguished artists and provide listeners with a variety of soulful and beautiful music is simply fantastic. The opening track is a great start with Norah Jones. Though I am not much of a country fan the Willie Nelson Duet gives me shivers from its great color and depth. I love all of the tracks and often will grab my partner and dance to the tracks because it is so great!

This is actually my second time purchasing this CD because I had to give it to someone who I new would love the music.

Stephen Sondheim's Company still sounds as modern as it did when it opened in 1970. Donna McKechnie, Susan Browning, and Pamela Myers spoof the Andrews Sisters with gusto in the tongue-twisting "You Could Drive a Person Crazy," while Browning and Dean Jones's "Barcelona" is filled with longing and heartbreak. And, of course, Elaine Stritch reigns supreme, proving once more that you don't have to be the best singer to steal a musical. An extra track features Larry Kert (Tony in the original West Side Story) singing "Being Alive." Kert had replaced Jones early in the run but wasn't on the original cast recording. It would have been nice to finally get the lyrics, though. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

COMPANY may have originally been introduced before its time back in the 70's but now we can see how timely and insightful and "right on" the book and lyrics really were and actually NOT ahead of there time at all.

Just gutsy enough to say it like it is/was at the time people didn't want to talk about such issues!

Of course Sondheim wrote this music so early in his career and yet it holds up so well today. Outstanding....Just "listen to the words" as one might say. An enjoyable task with the beautiful music and vocals on this outstanding CD

This is my favorite musical of all time. I get physically homesick for New York whenever I listen to this. Somehow Sondheim captures the feeling and the air in New York that makes me miss it everytime, and think of a way to find myself back there, especially with the song "Another Hundred People". Definitely one of the most truthful, life-changing musicals there are, and by far this recording is my favorite. I love the revival version as well, but for the real "feel" for this show, I recommend this recording above all others.

with the current revival of this sondhiem/ furth show, i thought it would be great for me to review the original as it will be compared with the new revival. this version of company outranks all others. being a cast recording collector i have every english language album of this show.while i can pick specific things in all the cast recordings that i love, this one is by far my favorite. this is my very favorite sondhiem show.not as traditional as gypsy and not as complexed as pacific overtures, company's source material hits home and is told in a way very revolutionary for it's time and has not been replicated since then.the performances as amazing , even if the actors are not as in tune as we hope the actors seem so true to the characters that it doesent matter. every thing from the 1970's orchastrations to the wonderful characters make a perfect fit.this cast recording produces deifinitive versions fo some of sondhiem's best hits.elaine stritch in "the ladies who lunch", pamela myers in "another hundred people" and beth howland in "not getting married" make that list.the addition of the laerry kert version of "being alive" gives you only a taste of what the london recording sounds like.if you can find a copy it's worth a listen,although it is the same recording with replaced vocals be larry kert.

Company, the groundbreaking 1970 work from Stephen Sondheim, is one of the greatest shows in musical theatre history. It's only fitting that such a great show gets a truly great Original Cast Recording. The orchestrations on this recording are so much better than either the 1995 Broadway Revival recording, or the 1996 London recording that I wonder if it will ever be equaled.

The performances on this recording are also unequaled. Not only are the songs well sung, but they're extremely well acted. This is especially true of what has become one of Sondheim's classics, "The Ladies Who Lunch", performed admirably by Elaine Stritch. Other standout tracks are Beth Howland's version (the original) of "Getting Married Today", Dean Jones' stirring interpretaion of "Someone is Waiting" and Pamela Myers' stunning rendition of "Another Hundred People."

This was the first Sondheim album I ever had, and I got hooked.
My only complaint is that the late, great Larry Kert, who took over for Dean Jones who left the show shortly after it opened (so soon in fact that Kert was nominated for the Tony), isn't on the recording. Jones is fine but Kert was even better. And of course this includes the now legendary version of The Ladies Who Lunch sung (?) by Elaine Stritch. But the star of the recording is Sondheim. It's a brilliant score!

I have found Jeffery Thompson's Theta CDs a useful aid to creativity over the past 4-5yrs promoting calming and focus. I play it through Windows media player with SoundSpectum's G-Force frequency responsive image software to reinforce the effect and involve the visual brain.

I am very pleased with this CD, the music is very calming and relaxing. I don't know if it actually gets me into a theta state as I have no way of measuring my brain waves with an EEG device but it does get me more relaxed and stress-free and thats what I care about. Highly recommend it.

I find this CD really helps me rejuvenate and re-energize if I haven't had enough sleep or otherwise feel fatigued. It's particularly helpful on days following a night of insomnia, and leaves me feeling as if I'd caught up on the missed sleep. It also provides powerful assistance for creative visualization sessions.

I have bought several guided imagery cd's for relaxation and have found the voices on them to be irritating or the content to be kinda stupid. So I bought some nature sounds like ocean waves etc and found them to be relaxing but not exactly trance inducing. This cd is amazing. At first it just sounds like a new age cd but when you use it to meditate it pulls you in to a state of very deep relaxation. My whole body felt tingly. I don't think I have ever felt so at peace. I plan on buying all his cd's and using them every day!!!

I have always loved Bad Company's music. This CD has all of their best songs. "Seagull" is their greatest song.

Nothing wrong with the songlist but this set disappointed me with its mixing. I found it very flat and lacking THE PUNCH needed to kick a**...I gather that the original Bad Co. masters were not in tremendous shape, but if Jimmy Page had stepped in and helped to remix the old Bad Co. as well as he remixed Led Zeppelin - this might have been stunning stuff. But that would have probably taken some time. I'm almost tempted to say go seek out the vinyl and enjoy that...I hope someone somewhere will find a way to improve this mix. Nice booklet though.

Singer Paul Rodgers in his prime was arguably the best voice ever
in rock. At present he is still pretty damn good. The band was productive in a time when men were not afraid to be men and rock and the keep it
simple yet up tempo power rock style is evident in the songs.

Bands today too often forget to save the drama for high school drama
class. There is too much fluff and not enough raw power and power chord structure. Bad Co. never forgot the pleasure of having a few drinks, turning the amp up to 11 and just letting the rock do the talking. The
combination of a solid Bad Co. bottom end, a great drummer and Rodgers
pool hall guy enthusiasm just plain works.

This collection, the "Original Bad Company Anthology," is the one to get if you're looking for a perfect overview of this famous band. Born in the era when rock music was getting down to "business," you know, well crafted "connect-the-dots" rock, but fortunately, this is pretty good overall, for being a poor man's Led Zeppelin. Also, this anthology really delivers with a good choice of tunes and amazing digital-remaster sound quality on two semi-packed CD's. I don't know if I needed two packed discs, so no complaints. Disc one is much stronger than disc two by a long shot, but still pretty enjoyable overall.

The four "new" songs at the end of disc two are alright, but forgettable. Apparently it's hard for an old band to come up with something new and really good in the modern era of rock. Only Deep Purple has been able to do this in my opinion. Actually, I'd love to see a two disc anthology like this one, for the classic Deep Purple lineup. After all, they are one of the biggies. Case closed!

As for this collection, I didn't mind too much that the later Bad Company albums were skimmed over, if you know what I mean. Nice job there. Enjoy it with a few beers and whatever you can find to inhale.
