About the Artist
JUDY MALLOY grew up in Houghton, New York, a tiny town of 400 people somewhere south of Buffalo. At the tender age of nineteen she came to New York City to study acting. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she was a member of the Production Company and a recipient of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Foundation Scholarship.

Being on the road has been a big part of Judy's career. First with children's theatre and summer stock and later at regional theatres like the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia where she played Sally in The Hired Man, The Goodspeed Opera House, where she created roles in Carol Hall's Goodsports and Amanda McBroom's Hearbeats, and George Street Playhouse where she recreated her Off-Broadway role of

Album Description
The Missing Peace is a full-length original work of musical theater performed entirely by Ms. Malloy, a Bistro Award winning vocalist and featured member of the cast of the Broadway musical Side Show. It is the story of a young woman, Brianna, and her heroic quest to heal the land and find her missing mother. Ms. Malloy touches the heart and the mind as her voice brings each of the work's eight characters to life without the aid of overdubs. The words and music are written by Ron Melrose, Musical Director of the Tony Award nominated musical The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I origninally discovered this amazing work by accident. Having discovered it, however, I haven't been able to stop listening to it for the last year. As a Psychologist, I have recommended it to many of may patients, who have found it a healing and growing experience, both from a familial and spiritual perspective. Ron Melrose tells a magical, riveting, healing story, held by his delicious, sweet, rich, robust music.

The poetry and wisdom of this piece are even more remarkable, because I'd have thought you'd have to be a wise old woman, a Jungian psychologist and a professional storyteller to do what he's done.

And Judy Malloy...!! Well, that performance is a tour de force that I have trouble describing. In fact, none of this does justice. Just get it.

I've bought over a dozen so far, because I keep thinking of people who would love it. Or who need to hear it for their own growth, healing or validation.

I have a predilection for great mother-daughter stories, but The Missing Peace is more than that. It's a great mother-daughter story and captivating music rolled into one. And Judy Malloy is a marvel. As she convincingly sings every role in the album, from ingenue to crone, she displays a range of style and emotion that's hard to imagine from any other singer. She's like a hybrid of Karen Akers, Bebe Neuwirth and Bernadette Peters--and Zelig, too.
