I am a trumpet player who has studied under the tutalage of Bernie Nero principle trumpet of the Austin Symphony and am also a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music,therefore I feel that I am in a unique position to coment on the quality of this recording. Although the music assembled for the recording is an excellent combination of contrasting styles, the musical prhasing is not played charicteristically correct for that time period of music,and stylistically lacks cohesivness. None the less it is still a very good recording, that is why I give it a four rating.

The Canadian Brass never disappoints. There are some great arrangements of Baroque classics on this album. It may be hard to imagine an organ piece like Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor played by a brass quartet, but it actually works. Overall, this album is consistent in delivering great music.

You really can't go wrong with any CD by the Canadian Brass; they're such an outstanding group. Because of this, it can oftentimes be difficult to choose which of their CDs to purchase. However, if you are looking for a Canadian Brass CD focused around the more classical aspect of music, "Go For Boroque!" is an excellent choice. Compared to the other CB baroque CD, I feel this one is the better. It has a lot more tracks, and the songs, in my opinion, are better. It has everything from my personal favorite, "We Hasten with Eager Footsteps," to "Trumpet Voluntary," to "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor," which is more closely associated with "Phantom of the Opera." I highly recommend this recording.

If you like Switchfoot's "The Beautiful Letdown" you'll love this album. It's the first cd I've checked out by Watashi Wa and I wasn't disappointed. My favorite tracks are "Face," and "All Of Me." It's catchy. Check these guys out!

Since Seth Alan Roberts turned 12, he hasn't stopped playing music. "The Love Of Life," his final album recorded with the full band Watashi Wa, is still one of my all time favorite pop records, and showcases a genuine talent and effort of a sensible, mature pop writer. It's a wonder that "All Of Me" never made it onto the MTV TRL countdown, that it never took over the radiowaves, that it never was seen by the world as the amazing pop jam it is, but I won't ever lose faith in Seth's ability to write catchy, melodic, and beautiful pop songs with incredible harmonies and progressions.

"Eager Seas" was going to be released as Seth's side project's debut album, and was originally set to be called "People Like People." For a series of complications, however, it eventually and finally is to be released under his original group name Watashi Wa.

In any case, this record has been done for quite some time, and has been mysteriously under the radar. Suddenly, it was slated for release this January, and I couldn't be happier. After hearing some demos and rough versions of songs on here, I was amazed to hear the full, mastered versions ringing through with resonance and a sense of longing. Filled with sustaining melodies and shimmering, beautiful guitars, it couldn't be any more somber and honest. Seth personally let me know about the struggles and encounters he went through the year this CD was recorded, and while I won't get into them, I was even more enthusiastic about the record when I felt his emotions pouring out of my stereo.

Songs like "Face" and "The Game" showcase Seth's keen sense of harmony and melody, with shimmering, cascading chords ringing clean and pristine. "I want to feel alive.." Seth pleads on "Sydney Tonight," a somber ballad that is perhaps the saddest song I have heard in some time. I was astonished to hear the remake of "Courtyard," originally a b-side from "The Love Of Life," and though the original version of "All Of Me" is on here, I'm glad because I think everyone in the world deserves and needs to hear that song.

All in all, this album is sad. I've almost considered it a retrospective glance into the love Seth felt and lost when his band Watashi Wa called it quits. He spent a long time, from adolesence into adulthood, playing music, and though he certainly hasn't called it quits by any means (look for more material from Seth hopefully in 2006--you can bet we will have it all first), this album is a glimpse into the final stages of his initial chapter in music. The love Seth has for music and for life certainly hasn't chnaged, and this beautiful collection is a reflective masterpiece that is distinct, honest, and truly a timeless effort by a talented musician. Buy this record and please, continue to support Seth in his future musical endeavors..if I even have to ask.

Watashi Wa went from a band with a positive message but a rocking foundation to all out flacid. Sure, the lyrical content is there, but most everything else is NOT. This isn't a great bet for fans of the incredible, "The Love of Life" album.

I have been waiting for this cd to come out for a long time, and it has definitely been worth the wait. I can honestly say that every song on this cd is great. My favorite songs keep changing. Check out 10 years, 2:57, Broken Man, Face, All of Me, and Something to Say. Well, actually just get the cd... It's one of the best cd's to come out in a long time.

This band is great. I love the vocals, the positive lyrics, the mix of upbeat and slower songs. I pre-ordered the CD, after memorizing every song on the Love of Life. I think every song on here is great (even though 1 is the same as Love of Life and 1 is just a slower version). I think this CD is worth your purchase, your time and som e of your heart.

          Album Description

          Song: "Don't Blame Me" Music by Jimmy McHugh, Lyrics by Dorothy Fields, Performed by Leslie Uggams The Bad and the Beautiful had been set in Hollywood, but Two Weeks in Another Town moved the location to Rome, where washed-up actor Jack Andrus (Douglas) is summoned by his former director (Edward G. Robinson) to assist him on a cheapie for a foreign producer. From there Jack's "two weeks in another town" find him coming to terms with his past through a new web of personal relationships. Although not a sequel to The Bad and the Beautiful, composer David Raksin treated Two Weeks in Another Town as a virtual "part two," reusing several of his themes from the earlier picture, including, briefly, the main theme itself -- for a screening of The Bad and the Beautiful as one of the "former productions" by the new film's characters.
