Product Description

This is a karaoke/accompaniment album of songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. These are not the original artists, this is a re-recorded album with a new cast.
Each song appears on the album twice, once with accompaniment tracks and guide vocals (tracks 1-12), and a second version with the accompaniment tracks alone (tracks 13-24). This album can be played in any CD player. All songs are recorded in the original show key and the show tempo. There are no on-screen lyrics, or lyric booklets provided with this album. This album is great for rehearsals or practing at home.

The backing tracks were all professionally done. Not extraordinary. Just up there professional. Perfectly adequate for your performances without the nuisance of knowing you've done well singing only to see the momentum held bk by feeble backing. The demo singing was even better. JCSS isn't the type of musical that lends itself to half hearted demo singing because of its intensity and its complexity. All demo singers did a great job esp Gethsamene. Only small whining would be agst the demo of *I don't know how to love him*. The singer had power but could have piled on the angst and tender sorrow more.

All in all, a worthy piece of job. I've bought many musical karaokes. I've seen much worse plenty.

      I bought this CD because I needed a instrumental version of JCSS to work with an amateur theatre group.
      This CD can be useful if your objetive is sing with your friends or in the shower, but if you want to make scenes with a theatre group is not good. The sound is very "electronic". It seems to be made with a simple electronic keyboard. I don't recommend it.

      This is the only Jesus Christ Superstar Karaoke CD I have been able to find so I bought it despite poor reviews. Generally disappointed. Most of the tracks are too fast and they include some very odd arrangements in terms of instrumentation. Not the worst Broadway Karaoke CD out there, but not one I recommend unless you have no other choice (as was my situation).

      Stage Stars mostly got this one right. The tempo of "Gethsemane" is WAY too fast, but on the whole, musically and graphically, this is probably the best disc Stage Stars has ever produced.

      I strongly disagree with the other reviews of this cd. I think the music is well done, and the voices are clear and strong. It's a really fun cd! A must-have for all JCS fans!
