Now That's What I Call Christmas!

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
The title doesn't lie, even if it does sounds like a hyperbolic pitch from an old late-night cable TV ad. With 36 tracks of various genres spread over two discs, Now That's What I Call Christmas might be the best, most eclectic "value-plus" holiday record ever released, assuming your tastes embrace crooners such as Cole, Crosby, and Como, plus contemporary boy bands such as Boyz II Men, as well as the ubiquitous Britney Spears.

In between there are the sumptuous classics by Bobby Helms, Brenda Lee, the Beach Boys, Elvis, and Burl Ives on disc one, balanced on disc two by more recent standards, including Bruce Springsteen's live version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" and John and Yoko's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." You're not obligated to like everything here, but that's why Santa invented the forward button on your CD player. --Martin Keller

5 out of 5 stars Great Christmas music.......2007-01-18

Great combination of Christmas classics and contemporary Christmas music. My favorites are the classics though.

3 out of 5 stars Great Seasonal Mix of Songs.......2007-01-15

Really only purchased the CD for two songs (Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and Do They Know It's Christmas) and was pleasantly surprised to find some other "keepers" on the disc as well. It was quite a mix of older and newer songs, and a nice addition to my Christmas CD collection.

5 out of 5 stars Brings you back to when you were young.......2007-01-19

This CD was very good. It reminded me of when I was younger and the types of songs my parents played while preparing for the Christmas Season. There are some newer titles and versions and all in all they are good.

4 out of 5 stars Good Variety.......2007-01-16

This is a fun collection, and a worthy addition to the "Now That's What I Call Christmas" series. Nice variety of old and new.

2 out of 5 stars OK But not as good as ones I bought in the past.......2007-01-12

This CD was somewhat of a dissapointment. Wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Was okay but definitely not one of my better Christmas CD's.

5 out of 5 stars Now that's what I call great..........2007-01-11

Great mixture of classic songs and classic artists - something for everyone - now that's what I call a great 2 CD Christmas compilation!

3 out of 5 stars Review.......2007-01-09

I did not like all the songs on this CD. Some of them were oaky. Would not purchase this item again.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best Christmas Album.......2007-02-15

This is a great set. The first cd has all of the wonderful traditional songs, and are nice when the fire is on or just the tree lights are on. The second cd is great when you want more upbeat modern music after getting tired of the first! We have lots of Christmas CDs, but this set gets more play because of the great combination.

4 out of 5 stars It's not quite modern and not quite traditional--a nice mix for someone eclectic .......2007-01-19

If you're looking for a collection that's strictly contemporary or traditional, this is not for you. I like the variety and the mix of classics, but others may experience a disconnect with something old and new played back to back.

4 out of 5 stars Devided.......2007-01-10

The new Christmas music drove most of my family crazy except for one song. Santa clause is coming to town was changed to hood in a spot and they loved that but preferred the classical Christmas music on disc 2.

3 out of 5 stars Could have been a little better.......2006-12-20

Granted that depends on your tastes. Your 10 to 12 year old daughter will probably love some of these tracks. However, this compilation comes nowhere near the 1st one. It's not bad and there are some "standards" on here by Elton John, Wham, Gloria Estefan and the Waitresses (which have the best tune in this set). It's all over the map, artist wise. It just seems to me that there wasn't much thought put into this compilation.

4 out of 5 stars Great XMAS CD.......2006-12-05

We have a lot of Xmas Cd's, but we find ourselves playing this one a lot.
