The Irish Tenors / McNamara, McDermott, Kearns, Tynan
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Forty years after the Clancy Brothers found popularity singing traditional Irish folksongs to an American audience, along comes the Irish Tenors, the trio of John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan. Backed by plenty of coverage on public television, the three tenors perform a soothing and nostalgic mix of Emerald Isle tunes--from "Danny Boy" to "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," along with a few surprises. Recorded live at the Royal Dublin Society Main Hall with a light orchestra, the album gives each of the three vocalists his chance in the spotlight. Fans of John McDermott should be sure to seek out the artist's solo discs such as Remembrance, which are far more intimate (and musically diverse) fare. --Jason Verlinde

What an experience!.......2007-07-05
This CD is absolutely amazing! The music makes the soul soar. You won't be sorry when you make this CD yours!
perfect songs for wedding days.......2007-06-18
My favorite wedding song is on this Cd and was played, sung by John about the journey we all make in our married life and was enjoyed by all. I recomend this and all their music too all listeners of Irish classics.
Older album, new review.......2007-04-13
Every home has a record, tape or CD that defines the family. This album is that recording for the hundreds of people who have already reviewed it here.
This is what my grandmother's John McCormack albums would sound like if they were recorded today. The fact that this music can connect generations, living and dead, speaks to its power. The fact that these singers, especially Anthony Kearns, can pull it off without even breaking a sweat, speaks to their talent.
When I was a young girl, I tried in vain to get good recordings of good Irish tenor music from our local library. Usually, I found albums with the words "Emerald Isle" somewhere in the title performed by folks who sounded like they'd had a few before the recording started. It is a joy to finally hear these songs sung, and recorded, as they were meant to be. If you don't own this, buy it now!

This is one of the best CD's I own and we never get tired of playing it.
The Clarity of the Tenors and the Orchestra is exellent.
