The Disney Album
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
This is a love letter to that special pop song genre cultivated in Disney films (and in some cases, musicals). Instead of the chestnuts from Disney's classic canon, Michael Crawford has chosen a program of contemporary Disney creations (except for the vintage "Baby Mine" from Dumbo), but these are destined to become evergreens in their own right. For starters, the magical combination of melody, atmosphere, and gentle lyrics showcases the Disney folks' uncanny ability to patch together sensational creative teams, drawing on such diverse artists as Alan Menken, Elton John, Randy Newman, and Phil Collins. And Crawford's mellow tenor, with its hint of Peter Pan innocence, is well suited to these expressions of joy and love, which include a memorable duet on "If I Never Knew You" (from Pocahontas) with Sherie René Scott. The production is lush and polished, but the length, a mere 40 minutes, is disappointingly skimpy. --Sarah Chin

Instrumental albums from Walt Disney's mega-empire are a rarity. But judging from the excellence of Disney's Lullaby Album--from the superb arrangements to the surprise song choices--you'll probably be hearing more of them. Producer and arranger Fred Mollin exhibits not only good taste and restraint in his approach, but his song choices sweetly complement one another. Treading the fine line between Muzak and genuinely soothing music, Mollin lands softly and sentimentally on such Disney movie song classics as "Baby Mine," "When You Wish upon a Star," and "Stay Awake/Feed the Birds," as well as on other chestnuts such as "Brahms Lullaby" and Kenny Loggins's "House at Pooh Corner." The real delights, though, are the Beatles' "I Will" (rendered beautifully on piano and strings), Louis Armstrong's timeless "What A Wonderful World," the classic "Beautiful Dreamer," the old doo-wop favorite "Good Night My Love (Pleasant Dreams)," and an inspired reprise of "Brahms Lullaby" joined with Gershwin's "Someone to Watch over Me." Complete with sleeping tips from psychology professor Jodi Mindell, Disney's Lullaby Album almost guarantees that you'll fall asleep before the baby does--for all the right reasons. --Martin Keller

Good Album.......2007-05-31
There are several reasons why I really like this CD and would recommend it:
1. Entirely instrumental - mostly sounds synthesized, but it is soft - not harsh and biting. No singing to jolt or distract.
2. The music is kept at an even volume. Some CDs tend to shift sound from one song to another, so when my son is nearly asleep and a song ends, the next one may or may not wake him up. This one does not have this problem.
3. The music choices are appropriate for an album used to go to sleep.
4. The songs are familiar. I may not have known the name of "House at Pooh Corner" but I certainly remember singing about Christopher Robin.
My son was used to being put to sleep with singing. We decided it was time he learn to fall asleep without parental involvement. This CD has been the best at accomplishing this for us so far.
I hope this helps someone make a decision.
Wonderful product. Thank you Disney!.......2007-05-20
My baby loves this music CD. It was very nicely made and produced.
Great for babies.......2007-05-12
I used this CD to help my little one go to sleep
A good cd for nap time.......2007-04-23
A good cd to relax your fussy one. But my Isabell likes Disney's Lullaby Album 2 just alittle bit better.
Great Lullabies!.......2007-03-16
My 8.5-month old son can get quite overstimulated by the end of the day. This cd has helped at calming him down. Now, instead of having trouble putting him down to sleep (he cried every time we walked away) we can lay him to sleep quietly. The music is very soothing and quiet, nothing sharp or loud, and all of the songs are recognizable. Great album, I'm ready to get Volume 2!

My kids LOVE this!!!!.......2007-07-10
I have 6 young children and so bedtime can be a little hectic on some nights. When I play this CD it instantly has a calming affect on my 4 boys, and they fall asleep much faster.
Both my children and myself love this album. It is soft, soothing and peaceful. A great album to put them to bed with.
If you tend to like peaceful instrumental music, then I most definitely recommend that you buy this album.
A cd that holds a special place in my heart.......2007-04-23
My stepdad made a slidshow of my daughter after she was born with a few of the songs off this cd. And it just moved me so much that I had to get this cd. I have always loved Elvis and when I hear "Love Me Tender" a feeling of warmth and comfort comes over me. And too see me sweet Princess asleep as the music plays, makes me feel like the luckiest woman on Earth.
Breathtakingly beautiful!.......2007-04-10
I bought this CD to play in my newborn daughter's nursery while she slept, and it hasn't left the CD player in almost 2 years. The renditions of all of these songs are just gorgeous in their simplicity, so sweet and perfect for a lullaby. It is nearly impossible for me to listen to "Love Me Tender" and stay dry-eyed, it's really that perfect.
I definitely do not feel that this CD is limited to a baby's room, it's a relaxing and beautiful set for any age. Just beautifully done and so wonderful to listen to.
Disney's Lullaaby Album, Vol 2.......2007-01-10
This CD is amazing! My daughter and I are completely calm whenever it is playing, which is very often. I would highly recomend it to anyone even if you don't have children...it is great backround music.
Soooo Relaxing..........2007-01-10
Can't say enough about this CD! Whereas it may not be guaranteed to send your baby off to dreamland (every baby is different), it will definitely swoop him/her down into resting mode. We would play it in a baby's CD player we bought when our son was born. The music is just beautiful and sweet, songs that you'll recognize, and it's great for mom and dad to relax to as well! I sat in the rocker with my son listening to this CD (it was one of our two favorites!) from the time he was an infant until he was well over a year-and-a-half as part of our bedtime ritual. Sometimes we'd just cuddle and listen together, sometimes I'd hum to the music for him. Even now that he's over three, he occasionally crawls onto my lap to listen to this CD at night.

Rarely has an album surfaced with this much raw ability to repel dads, pesky little brothers, and teens with reputations to protect. Then again, rarely will gift-giving grownups find a CD better suited to 3- to 8-year-old divas in the making. Princesses presents 10 melodramatic movie-derived favorites, from as far back as 1948's Cinderella to modern-day hits like Mulan, performed by a handful of lovely sounding if barely distinguishable studio artists; the singing along part is supposed to take place during an instrumental version of each track that directly follows the vocal rendering. Thus, packs of pretend Pocahontases, Belles, and Ariels secure the spotlight for karaoke-style belt-outs of "Colors of the Wind," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Part of Your World." A fit-for-a-princess purple and pink liner note leaflet unravels to present printed lyrics. --Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Great Instrumental CD!.......2007-03-30
Before I start reviewing this album, I want to clarify a few things:
1) This is NOT a karaoke CD. It will NOT work in your karaoke machine. This CD is only for singing-along with, as the the title of it says. It doesn't claim to be anything else
2) The original singers do NOT sing in the songs. Take a look at the $8 price tag. A CD with the actual singers will cost more, don't buy this CD as a cheap way to just own these songs without buying a more expensive CD, because you won't get what you're looking for.
3) No, this CD doesn't have an exhaustive list of Princess songs. There are 20 tracks, 10 with vocals, 10 without. So that means that some beloved songs aren't on this album. If someone is looking for a complete princess instrumental collection, I would suggest buying more than just one karaoke CD.
That being said, I really enjoy this CD. I know of at least two other Princess instrumental CDs out there, and this one is my favorite. This CD has more tracks than the others and less filler tracks. This collection does include Candle on the Water from Pete's Dragon for whatever reason, but the other songs are exactly something I'd expect from a Disney Princess CD. In my opinion, all these particular 10 tracks were chosen to be on the CD as to be the easiest to sing solo to. So some memorable Disney Prince & Princess duets aren't on here, but those kinds of songs aren't easy to sing along with anyway.
As other reviewers have pointed out, this CD doesn't retain the original vocals. The singers who do sing the songs (Leslie French, Robin Huston, Amy Baker Stinson, Chris Martin, Meredith Robertson, Meredith McCall, Joe York, Rebecca Schoolar, & Laura Benedict - whoever they are) don't sound terrible, but they certainly won't ever replace the original singers. These vocals tracks are just on the CD so you'll know how the song is supposed to sound. The real purpose of this album is the instrumental tracks, but if that's not what you want, then maybe you should reconsider buying this CD. Most karaoke CDs do not use the original voices if they do have vocal tracks, so that's something to keep in mind when looking at these kind of CDs.
I gave this CD a 5 because it's good for what it is. If you want a CD that can be used on a karaoke machine, find another one. If you want a CD because you want the original princess vocals, find another one. If you want a sing-along CD that contains instrumental tracks that retain their original arrangement, then buy this CD and skip over some of the others out there.
Princess favorite songs.......2007-01-10
The track list has all the favorites of the Princess songs. First the songs are sung, then the music-like in karaoke as you read the words on cd cover-alone plays next for your "little singer" to sing along.
The only drawback is that the "original singers" from the movies or sing along dvds are not singing in this album, or, at least most of them.
Original vocals??.......2005-11-14
As a big Disney Princess fan, I'm rather upset that for this CD, the vocal versions of the tracks are NOT performed by the original voice actresses who played each Princess. It's almost like buying a karaoke CD with tracks of people singing along to the karaoke provided! Either include the original vocals for the song, or don't include them at all, Disney.
I think it's good but not very........2005-04-30
There are 10 Princess songs and instrument in this album.I felt that the instrument is perfect, Sometimes I can do some sing-along, and I love singing. I don't like the vocals in this album, Because I love the original Princesses' vocals.I think that I bought it only because it's Disney's.
Great music but a bit of false advertising.......2004-08-30
I bought this for my newly minted princess groupie without having a knowledge of all of the movies. I mistakenly believed from the title and the picture on the CD that ALL of the music was from Disney princess movies. Of 10 tracks, only 8 are from Disney princesses (only 5 if you don't count Mulan and Pocahontas as princesses as I'm told Disney doesn't always count them.) GREAT SONGS and my daughter LOVES them but I would have preferred that it included a song from Snow White and Jasmine who are pictured on the cover rather than a song from Hercules and a song from Pete's Dragon. (I feel like a victim of false avertising.)

Not for children.......2007-04-22
This was produced by Hal Willner at A&M in 1989 when Willner was 31. Willner has also produced albums for Marianne Faithfull, Lou Reed, Bill Frisell, William S. Burroughs, Gavin Friday, Lucinda Williams and Allen Ginsberg, among others. So it should be no surprise that this album is an eclectic mix and highly theatrical in concept. Several reviewers have criticized the use of medleys, but a great many Disney songs have only one verse and a chorus, which makes it difficult to make a full length cut, hence the medleys. It's an album that has aged very well and bears many repeat listenings. Tom Waits, Harry Nilsson,Suzanne Vega, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, Betty Carter,Sinead O'Connor, James Taylor, Yma Sumac, and narration by Ken Nordine. It sounds as though it should be a real mess, but Willner has put it together so it not only makes sense but is more than the sum of its parts.
Not hte best cd to buy.......2007-04-02
I have bought several Disney cd's like this one and this is my least favorite. Some of the arrangements I feel could scare a young child, like Hey Diddley Dee. The one that I do enjoy is the title song...It is very much the mother's lullaby being sung acapello.
Disney a wee bit on acid........2006-06-09
What an eclectic grouping of artists that came together to make this work. The absolute best Disney tribute CD that adults will probably enjoy more than the children. Sinead deliberatly sings an entire song off key until the last note and it's perfect. There are wonderfull songs that you would expect, but with Tom Waits in the mix you must expect some "oddness". Overall a great CD. 5 Stars easy.
Alternating dark , melancholy and wistful, good but for grown-ups only.......2006-05-16
I found that listening to this work end to end is going to put you in some peculiar moods. The overall feeling is definitely downbeat, even the up-tempo songs have a decidedly ironic and dark bent. My favorite song in this album has to be the exceptionally soulful rendering of "Baby Mine" by Bonnie Raitt; it turns the sentimental mother-child ballad into something more on the romantic side. I have often slow-danced this one with the wife, and you can really feel a hot intensity under the surface of this number. James Taylor's "Second Star To The Right" is exceptionally wistful in his trademark style. Sun Ra's cover of "Pink Elephants" remains true to the original while retaining the peculiar spacy Sun-Ra vibe. One of the more "accessible" Sun-Ra performances I've ever heard.
Tom Waits and Ken Nordine are commanding presences as well. The Tom Waits version of "Hi-Ho" made my wife's imagination conjure nightmare images of murderous doings in Gacy's basement; it creeps her out so badly, she refuses to hear one note of it. I prefer to imagine the dwarves in manic, Fred C. Dobbs-like pursuit of their underground treasure, working too fast in a mine full of hazards and fearsome environments... with a workplace like that, it's no wonder they'd really appreciate a Snow White coming into their lives. Perfect music if you are on your way to a job you hate...
I agree the Sinead O'Connor piece (Someday My Prince Will Come) and Suzanne Vega "Stay Awake" tracks are here mostly for their postmodern ironic effect, and I find them hard to listen to with patience. In Sinead's case, the shock value of her performance of this particular song choice gets dulled over time as people forget who she is and why her singing this is supposed to be funny.
The Nordine pieces, which bookend the album, really demand good headphones for best appreciation, and reward repeated listening. Cruising thru quotes of ee cummings, with puzzling snatches of what seems to be an audio montage of soundtrack clips from old Disney park attractions, and other spooky imagery, he conjures up a tour thru a darkened, haunted vault of musty film cans and ragged posters, the perfect place for an adult to look back on childhood perceptions and potentials and compare his youthful fantasies with the cold realities and incomplete goals and disappointments of old age. Pretty heavy stuff. Yet it manages to finish, if not upbeat, still, with a sense that we still have time left to wring meaning from our pasts, and to put ourselves on a path to personal redemption.
The whole album leaves me with this kind of feeling, as if I have passed unscathed thru something more dark and dangerous than I really understood, and survived to come out into sunlight on the other side. Like the old "dark ride" rollercoaster attractions of Disney's park, you will want to experience the ordeal of getting scared and surviving it again and again.
Really good stuff.......2006-04-28
I picked this up on CD when it was first released and I was in college, it was always one of my dirty pleasures packed next to harder, grungier, and/or funkier stuff. Well, most of the other stuff has not stood the test of time too well, but Stay Awake still comes out every once in a while. Like the earlier reviewer, I frequently sing my daughters to sleep with Blue Shadows on the Trail ala Syd Straw, and my 2 year old has taken to singing along with me. My one complaint is the medley style of the tracks... some tunes rate an individual track, while other tracks might have three or four tunes faded together. Plenty of different styles on here to satisfy a wide variety of tastes, but it's the purer and more sentimental ones that have always stuck with me. I strongly disagree with the reviewer who thinks Aaron Neville was trying to sex up the Mickey Mouse Club march, I've always felt that his version is laced more with plaintive nostalgia than anything prurient. I've always wished that somebody would put together a Stay Awake 2, but if that means Jessica Simpson gets called in to remake Hakuna Matata, I'll pass.

Disney's Princess Lullaby Album shines light on a key children's release from 2001: Jason Falkner's Bedtime with the Beatles collection. The arrangements here are dripping with keyboards and swathed in strings, but the simple formula--translating familiar melodies and mellowing the music to sweet, soporific levels--works well. And, to be fair, these aren't Beatles tunes. But the Disney songs are recognizable enough that the youngster in need of music as a sleep aid won't be, so to speak, in the dark. Even if films like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and, to a greater extent, Mulan, aren't known quantities, Fred Mollin's orchestrations are soothing. Yes, the set will seem monotonous to adult ears, but this can take a nice, mellow spot alongside Disney Babies Lullaby in the twilight rotation. --Andrew Bartlett
Customer Reviews:
A CD so soothing that even reviewing it makes me sleepy........2006-03-31
This CD has been my daughters' main bedtime music for three years now. They haven't gotten sick of it yet and surprisingly enough either have my husband or I. The music itself is kind of Disney classics meet Muzak with a slight jazzy twist. The melodies to the songs are recognizable in these keyboard and string heavy renditions, but different enough that you might find yourself wondering, "Which movie is this from" from time to time. It's a nice bridge for kids to appreciate less-commercial music. It's what I call Disney Lite - familiar and comforting for those Disney fans and palatable for those who, foolishly, are not. The CD is a great tool to mellow down and drift into sleep for the little ones. It also holds an element of fantasy and whimsy that is sure to swath little princess in comfort before sending them into happy dreams.
Perfect for your little princess!.......2006-03-24
For the past year and a half, our daughter has been going to sleep to the instrumental tunes of Bedtime for Beatles. She loved it! Then one day recently she told me she wanted different music - princess lullaby music - perfect for a 3-1/2 year old. So I went online and looked up "princess lullabies" and found this CD. She loved it from the first moment she heard it. We keep her music on all night long, and whenever I go into her room to check on her, I feel like I'm entering Disneyworld! I would highly recommend this CD.
Great for babies.......2006-02-27
My 6th month old baby loves to listen to lullabies when it is naptime or bedtime.
A lovely collection.......2006-01-04
I received this as a gift for my baby, but have found that I am listening to it myself! The music is so soothing, and brings back so many memories for me. I especially like the arrangements for A Whole New World and Someday My Prince Will Come. Perfect for nap time for the baby, or just some restful music for you to listen to at work or while reading.
Soothing Sounds for Baby at Bed Time.......2005-11-10
I was downloading songs for my 13 month old from Itunes and came across this album. The lullabys were so soothing and brought back memories from my childhood when I used to watch and listen to these popular classics. I purchased the CD from Amazon and my baby listens to it at bedtime...I find myself lingering in her room as it plays...to watch her sleep...and also to hear the soothing tunes and reminisce...

Ok, so I know that this album didn't have nearly as many singles as Carrie Underwood's CD, but you have to start somewhere. There are definetly some interesting melodies on this album such as Vertical,Flip, Graduation, and Me Likey. None of the singers are Christina Aguilera, but their are some interesting harmonies. If you listen more closely to this album and get familiar with it, you'll discover it's good, wholesome, feel-good music that you'd rather listen to than rap with tons of swearing. In conclusion, this album symbolizes the passion and creativity of 4 teens who are slowly climbing their way to stardom.
PO-SER.......2007-05-05
Okay, some of their songs are okay, such as vertical and second star to the right. A song that i really hate is Flip. The blonde girl ruins it all! She just seems like such a poser. The song really isn't that bad, the boy (the one with the spikey black hair) is actually kinda cute. How old is he anyway? Whenever i hear flip or see it on disneychannel,i just turn it off, her voice is just so annoying! The other girl can actually sing. Rrrrrrrrrr, she just makes me mad whenever i hear her voice. So that's my opinion. Anybody agree?
T-Sqaud: Worst of 2007.......2007-04-28
Disney Records had an amazing year in 2006 with the mega sale of the phenomenon "High School Musical", which sold 4,000,000 copies in the U.S., and "The Cheetah Girls 2", selling 1,500,000, also the unexpected "Hannah Montana", nearly selling 3,000,000 copies. Now, T-Squad is a bad presentation for young kids, there a wannabe Black Eyed Peas. They do have a hit song "Flip" (which is ok) that is playing numerously on the Disney Channel, and doing well on Radio Disney. But for the rest of this debut, it is bad. Songs like "Vertical", "Graduation", and more are just terrible. They need to spend some more time in the studio, actually, how did they get signed?

Where's Jiminy?.......2006-06-24
I had this record back in the 50's, actually it was my older brothers record. At that time it was entitled "A Day At Disneyland" and it was a great record to listen to before visiting the park itself. This rerelease is good as far as bringing back those fond memories, except one problem, there is no Jiminy Cricket. The original recording had Jiminy narrating along with the music throughout the different lands and was a bit more entertaining. My brother recently obtained the original L.P. in a used record store, I am having him record it for me. This new one is good but I really miss the cricket, Jiminy made it great.
Going back in time.......2006-01-27
As a DUTCH Disneypark fan, I LOVE the music from the parks
verry much! With this CD you go back to the beginning
in the '50 when Walt Disney started Disneyland.
If you like classical music and the movies from Disney
you HEAR that moviemusic in some of these songs.
Nobody is singing on this CD it is just GREAT music!
It all started with Walt Disney and to HEAR him
on this CD is a special gift and moment.
I will go to Disneyland next week and after I come back
I go and will listen to the special 50th CD.
you will here different music then.

A favorite memory returns!.......2006-01-19
On my first trip to Disneyland, my parents bought me an album, narrated by Walt Disney and Jiminy Cricket, featuring a musical tour of Disneyland. As I grew bigger (but never grew up!), this album remained a favorite. As I got married and had children, they enjoyed it as well.
2 years ago, we had a fire, and this treasure was among the many, many things we lost...and now I can have it back, and better than before (on CD, since my old turntable also went up in smoke). Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you!
Sure, it's music and narration, and not even "real sounds" from the park...but for a 5 year old child (who won't grow up), it was every bit as real as the tour that it captured.
Historic Music.......2005-09-13
This CD is a faithful recreation of a record originally released in 1956. Not only are the tracks the same, but the cardboard packaging is made to look like the album of old.
The key to understanding this release is the sub-title, a musical tour of the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney starts each track by briefly describing the spirit of each land. From there on out, you get nothing but music. The exception to that is the Tomorrowland track, where there is occasional dialog discussing what is happening on the journey around the moon, still a science fiction concept in 1956.
Don't get me wrong; the music is great, especially in the Fantasyland track where we are treated to selections from Disney's movies. However, that wasn't what I was looking for. I was hoping for more description of the park from back then and even more pictures. As it is, this is a good CD that will mainly appeal to fans who had it on record as a child. Those looking for a historic trip to the Disneyland of 50 years ago should probably look elsewhere.
Finally re-released!.......2005-08-22
This is a re-release of an original LP from the Disneyland label. A historic record in for many reasons, it was originally released in 1956 from Disney's first in-house record label, and is the record they released. Basically it is an audio tour of Disneyland narrated by Walt Disney himself, as he takes you to Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tommorrowland. Many attractions he mentions are long gone, so it is historic in that sense as well. It is accompanied by music, voices and sound effects to make you feel as if you are there. The CD quality is very good, a faithful recreation of the LP, with the original LP cover reproduced as well. 35 minutes in length. Thank you Disney for unearthing this gem, a great CD and I reccommend. Since the title list above is incomplete, here it is again in it's entirety:
Main Street U.S.A.
Disneyland Theme - Walt Disney Narration
Meet Me Down on Main Street - Player Piano, Orchestrion, Marching Band, Calliope
Adventureland
Overture - Walt Disney Narration
Adventureland Boat Ride - Orchids in the Jungle | Monkeys and Hippos | Distant Drums | The River and the Rapids | Tribal Dances | Finale
Frontierland

Covered Wagon Ride "Westward Ho The Wagons" - "Old Betsy"
Golden Horseshoe - "Slue Foot's Hoe Down"
River Boat Ride - "Farewell"
Finale - "Balad of Davy Crockett"

Princess Franchise Hits Another Low.......2006-11-22
I consider myself a pretty hardcore Disney fan. As an adult with no children I usually buy this sort of thing for myself and I enjoy it tremendously.
I'll be honest here, while I do purchase almost all of the music I own, I will sample music via "shared" MP3s online from time to time. Especially with Disney now a days, the Princess franchise hits all kinds of highs and lows. There is no guarantee anymore that Disney automatically equals quality. I found a webpage online that enabled me to sample the first 8 tracks of this album in their entirety. I dodged a bullet here. Obviously some of the original princess voices actors are no longer living, and that's not to beheld against this album. In past sequel films they've made some decent replacement choices. However I didn't think they did a good job here.
Snow White's singing is horribly grating and Cinderella's isn't much better. In many songs they try and include all the background characters, like the 7 dwarfs and Cinderella's mice but they aren't the original voices either. I don't see why they chose to put in sub-par replacements of secondary characters when they didn't really have to. You might not notice Snow White isn't the original, and that won't detract from the album, but you're going to notice the 7 dwarfs are way off the mark once they join in. Etc. This album would have been MUCH better if they had just gone with a more classical one character approach, rather then try and cram handfuls of what is unnecessary poor voice work into each song.
They couldn't even get some of the living princess voice actors to sign on which I feel says something about the product. Paige O'Hara, who was the voice of Belle in the original Disney film, is ~not~ on this album. She was replaced by Susan Egan who played the original Belle on Broadway. Egan does have an excellent voice and makes an excellent Belle anyway, but she is not the original. (Coincidentally Susan Egan was the voice of "Meg" in Disney's original animated film Hercules and it may further confuse the kiddies about which princess is actually singing in my opinion)
A few tracks with Broadway's "Belle" and "Pocahontas" are really quite good by themselves, but I'm not willing to pay $10 for ~a few tracks~. From my point of view not many adult Disney fans will find this up to par, and not many parents are going to want to be subjected to Snow White's voice via the listening habits of a toddler who might think this is just great and listen to it over and over.
As far as the celebrities....I seriously doubt a toddler knows or cares who Wayne Brady & Jim Brick man are.
I think you're better off mixing Disney movies and old Christmas favorites like The Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, or the Grins soundtrack if you're in a Disney/Christmas mood. Or hey, ...break out Mickey's Christmas carol. If you're hell bent on dipping into the Princess franchise pick up one of those "Greatest Hits" Cds Disney has which has a mix of all the popular princess songs from the original films. If you're feeling really frisky many of the voice actors of the contemporary princesses have made their own non-Disney solo albums covering all sorts of kid friendly songs.
Fun and sweet holiday CD.......2005-11-09
We just got our copy of this yesterday, and I bet we have already played it 20 times at least! We bought it for our 2 year old daughter, who is obsessed with the princesses, but we have all five enjoyed this cd. The songs are all good, and a good mix of older songs and newer, princess songs.
Our little girl has been thrilled with this album, and since this is the first Christmas she has really been old enough to notice music, I am so glad we bought this. Our other two children, ages 10 and 5, also enjoy it.
My favorite selection from the cd is Silver and Gold, but they are all good. Ariel's Christmas Island is cute, and since we are used to hearing this on Jimmy Buffet's Christmas Island cd, it was fun to hear Ariel sing it.
If your little girl enjoys the princesses, this will be great to add to your collection.
A happy Christmas celebration before Christmas with Disney Princess!.......2005-11-03
I bought this album and listened to it just a day or two ago, a long time before Christmas of course. I was so happy and excited, because Christmas is a very important festival to me, and one of my favourites. This album with lyrics such as snow, mistletoe and trees and so on made me felt as if Christmas is coming!
There were many traditional and new songs for Christmas. It made me associate this album with the soundtrack of "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas". One of the reasons why I love this album so much is that it featured many my favourite vocals, such as Jodi Benson's, Paige O'Hara's and Lea Salonga's. Jodi Benson's voice will always be the most beautiful in my opinion.
I think the best song in this album was "Christmas is coming". I love songs which all the princesses sang together, just like "If you can dream". This song made me felt a little cold, but I could feel the happiness Christmas brings. I felt it as if I see the princesses were giving presents to each other to make the world filled with happiness, warmth and magic. One of the traditional songs named "Twelve days of Christmas" was sung by all the princesses too. The princesses sang their own stories in this song, with new lyrics of course. "Christmas in the Ocean" of Ariel was very funny, because this song was featured with Sebastian. This song made me dream of a Christmas which is not so cold, just like Ariel's! I was surprise and felt a little strange that Mulan sang a song named "The holly and the ivy" in this album. There is no holidays during Christmas in China, maybe it's because that there is only a few Christians in China, although I'm a Chinese Christian. But this song was still good!
Generally speaking, I love this album very much, and it fits for young and old who love Christmas and Disney Princess.
Cute.......2005-11-03
There are a few Christmas songs on this CD that are traditional, but are given a Disney twist. Most are original. They're not bad, and any princess fan would enjoy this. The songs are sung by the original voices, of Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine, and they have new voices for Cinderella, Snow White, and Aurora, for obvious reasons. Snow White is actually better, the other two are up to par.

Awesome.......2006-04-04
I loved the music on this cd. Thank you so much. My brother and I listen to it all the time.
Disney Always Rocks.......2005-09-29
Yeah looks like it's a great get, if you haven't already got every CD by disney. Didn't know the song You'll be In my Hear was a Tarzan track. Must be a spin off to You'll be in My Heart. Its all good.
Awesome collection!.......2003-10-19
I have to say, that with a 5 year old who is obsessed with the movies that these songs go with, it has made the perfect gift! She spends hours listening to this CD while doing more productive activities than sitting in front of a TV watching the movie. The songs are special to her because of the movies, and she actually does her schoolwork well with these fun songs playing. As a music lover and a Disney lover, we both agree at 5 and 30 that this is a hit.
For adult listeners, the Disney songs sung by "real" singers.......2003-07-22
Trivia Challenge: Included in the 16 tracks on "Disney's Superstar Hits" is the only song from a Disney film to hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Charts. See if you can remember which one it is before I give the answer away at the end. No peaking ahead.
The songs collected on "Disney's Superstar Hits" are mostly from the 1990s; there is "Once Upon a Time in New York City" from way back in 1988 from "Oliver and Company" and a few songs from the 21st century. But the only golden oldie is "Put It Together (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo)," which comes from "Cinderella II" and not the original. The obvious frame of reference would be to see this collection as representing the Disney Renaissance ushered in by the Alan Menken/Howrad Ashman era, which makes it strange that nothing from "Little Mermaid" is included. But the common denominator to this collection is that the songs are not sung by the characters from these films, or, more properly, the people who did the voices for the characters. So instead of Angela Landsbury doing "Beauty and the Beast" it is Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.
There are several songs from the less than stellar direct to video Disney sequels, such as "The Hunchback of Notre Dame II," "The Lion King II: Return to Pride Rock," "and "Cinderella II," which would be a minor complaint. But Tina Turner sings one of the songs, so it is hard to complain. In fact, the strength of this collection is indeed the superstar singers. Most of them are blasts from the past such as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Sting, Huey Lewis, and Randy Newsman, but there is also new blood such as Christina Aguilera, Sarah McLachlan, Vanessa Williams, and even Jennifer Love Hewitt. Peabo Bryson comes out ahead, with the aforementioned "Beauty and the Beast" and another duet, "A Whole New World" with Regina Belle.
This disc is perfect for grown ups, who like the "real" singers singing the best songs from the Disney movies their kids have been dragging them to for the past decade. Vanessa William's "Colors of the Wind" is my personal favorite, although it is hard not to recall the fantastic opening of "The Lion King" when you hear Elton John do "Circle of Life." On the fun side of the ledger I like Randy Newman and Lyle Lovett working their collective ways through "You've Got a Friend in Me" a bit more than Jimmy Cliff and Lebo M's "Hakuna Matata."
Trivia Answer: "A Whole New World" was #1 on the Billboard Pop Chart for one week starting on March 6, 1993. It is the song that replaced Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" after 14 weeks on top.
Good CD.......2002-12-29
This is a great CD, but I was kind of disappointed that there weren't more tracks on it. Other than that, you and your kids will be singing along in the car for sure.

Moved from cassete to CD.......2007-02-19
After 10 years of babying the cassete of this album decided to look for a CD form. Glad to have found it! Disney needs to put out this album again. A real change from the nasty kids music out today. THE BEST KIDS ALBUM EVER!
Best of the best.......2006-06-21
I got this tape for my daughter 15 years ago, and still remember her imitating Little Richard from her carseat! I am also an elementary classroom and music teacher, and found this to be the most enjoyable children's tape we owned. We never got tired of it; in fact, since ours disappeared, I'm ordering a new one as well as one for my newest nephew. I encourage any parent to get one of these while they're still around!
Oldie but Goodie.......2004-10-16
I had this tape when my oldest daughter was born in '91. I wish it were still in print, so to speak. It was great having kids songs sung by contemporary artists who created fun recordings that didn't grate on your nerves after hours of listening to kids' songs. I now have a new baby & can't find my tape so want a new copy to keep us both entertained.
