Flemish pop sensation Helmut Lotti here presents another side of his chameleon-like personality. But there's no mistaking the lightweight, smoothly pleasing voice that his legions of fans have come to depend on. The "classic" angle to these selections--recorded at Belgium's Cleydael Castle--refers to Lotti's arrangements (often to his own lyrics) of familiar tunes from the likes of Brahms, Grieg, and Tchaikovsky rather than to high-flying operatic feats. For all the schmaltz of Lotti's phrasing, his demeanor is likeably unpretentious, making no claims to assume the status of the "fourth tenor." Indeed, the echoes here are less of Pavarotti than of Lotti's idol Elvis, of whom he gives a credible, crooning imitation in "Amazing Grace" and "John Brown's Body." Lotti's evident sense of fun throughout the proceedings is infectious. --Thomas May

I wish we have a dvd for this exceptional beauty of music to
contenplate in our lives on both past and present. I love all
his concert which reflects true meanings to most people lives.

I have all the Helmut Lotti Goes Classic CD's and the Final Edition is like icing on the cake--save the best for last--it is simply magnificent!! I recommend it as I do all of Helmut's work to anyone who appreciates beautiful music done by a class A singer. He has so much talent in him I can't believe it. I know I will enjoy his singing forever as my entire family does also.

Helmut lotti goes classic - the most beautiful edition.......2001-02-26

whenever I listen to Helmut Lotti's music, it gives me deep emotional impact. This final edition is really one of the finest. There are some favorite pieces of mine such as Mozart's Clarinet Concerto and Pachelbel's Canon. They are undoubtly masterpieces by themselves, however, Lotti gave them some exquisite nuance. I remember that there was another beautiful adaptation of Pachelbel's Cannon in George Winston's December. Once I loved it but, as time goes by, it was faded and forgotten until Lotti's adaptation reminded me of Winston's. With it, a long lost memory of my youth came back. This heart warming duet "Love is Life"(from Canon by Pachelbel) certainly has power to stir hidden emotion as well as to bring back youthful delightness. Other songs, to name a few, Green Sleeves, Plaisir d'Amour, How I wish ,, are all beautiful,too. Although I like Lotti's other project such as "Out of Africa", I wish his "goes to classic" series would never have ended.

I received my first CD of Helmut Lotti - Helmut Lotti goes Classic Final Edition - this morning, after first seeing him perform on the German Satellite Channels over the last couple of years.

I wish there were DVDs available, as both my Wife and myself really enjoy his music.

This particular CD is brilliant! We have had it for just two and a half hours and it has been running non stop!!

great instrumental classics.......2000-09-13

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra never ceased to amaze me with their vibrant and versatility in intrepreting the instrumental versions of the classics..I like the classic Clint Eastwood western "fistful of dollars"...melodic sounds of "never on sunday" and don't forget the really western classics of them all.."high noon" (do not forsake me)...very very nice.buy one today.

Album Description

Since it first appeared on the scene in 1999, Super Funk has become a market leader in the release of rare and previously unreleased cuts aimed firmly at the deep funk dancefloor.

Super Funk is back after three years absence, with its best volume musically and some of the scene's absolute rarest records. These are joined by some underplayed classics and an amazing eight unreleased monsters.

Of the rarities, the Uniques' ultra-expensive `Give Me Another Chance' has been creating the most fuss. Only one copy of this record has been found and was snapped up by DJ Ian Wright for $3000 and is currently filling dance floors the world over. `Hi Off Life' by the Eternal Flames is almost as rare, with only a small handful of this excellent slice of Ghetto Funk ever having turned up. Produced by Fatback's Bill Curtis, the band were a bunch of Queens teenagers aiming for their one shot at glory, which never came. Smithtonian's `Just Sitting', a glorious slice of hip hop-style funk, is so rare because it is the B-side of a record that only turns up as a one (A) sided promo; it is so sought-after because it is so good.

In the unreleased stakes we have cuts by Dyke and the Blazers, an alternate take of The Phillips Brothers' super-rare `Now' single, as well as an unreleased Pt 2 and a whole new unreleased cut. DJ Snowboy has been going wild over our unreleased version of James Brown's `Mother Popcorn', whilst many more will go crazy for the brilliant 87Th Off Broadway's `Can't Get Enough', a discovery from some vaults in San Francisco. From the classics file we have Alvin Cash's super-funky 70s remake of `Twine Time' and Jackie Wilson's `Shake A Leg', a track so full of life that you think Jackie has come back from the grave every time you hear it.

This Is Some Serious Music!!.......2007-05-24

I'm a big fan of good, funky, groovy music from "back in the day", seeing that that was the music I listened to and influenced my listening choices even to this day. But when I bought this and listened to it, it was like being a kid all over again! I laughed a lot during this episode, my cheeks hurting me enough until I eventually had to turn it off just to recover from the cramps in my face! This is some solid stuff here. If you don't have this, buy this now; but beware of the cheek cramps!!!
