This is truly dionne at her best.It,s sad that only two songs(once you hit the road and his house and me)got air play.My world of dreams,this is love,and love me one more time were worth a little air play.The man himself thom bell along with linda creed put their stamp on this project.
If you like the spinners(my # 1 group of all time) you will love this cd.
It is in my top ten of all time enjoy!

Change of Pace for Dionne Warwick.......2006-09-01

Great mellow outing for Ms. Warwick. Working with producer Thom Bell (of Spinners fame) she had mature well written songs to go with a new mature sound in her voice. This is a cd worth getting and adding to your collection or for those who want a good introduction to Ms. Warwick's 70s output a good place to begin.

Finally, I've Found It !!!.......2006-08-05

I have this on LP (along with the scratches and noise)and have finally been able to find it available.This is a beautiful recording from the 70's.Forget what you've heard from Dionne before (weather you like what you've heard or not),this is some great stuff from the Thom Bell camp (you can hear that distinctive Philly Sound).Now if they would only also release Diana Ross's "Baby It's Me" from roughly the same era,i would be in Hog Heaven.These are two recordings where the artists departed from their usual sound thanks to their producers and both,trust me,are GEMS.

Dionne puts the 'cat' in 'track'.......2005-01-04

Normally I would get sick of listening to Dionne's voice over-and-over due to her resinence on her Bacharach/David songs are exactly the same, and the songs are just too much alike one another. However, with this album... you get to see what Dionne can really do!

I think the title track, 'His House and Me' and 'Once You Hit The Road' are by far the best tracks on the album. What urks me is that how this album has gotten just bad and absolutely terrible reviews upon its release and over the past 20 year since its debut. It really and truely does amaze me how a gem like this could go overlooked. But many times when artists try something new, the general and immediate public don't go for it when such a small but risque venture is carried out and followed through upon.

Please... go out and buy this CD. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

Smooth Dionne.......2004-07-16

First i want to thank David Nathan for reissueing this GEM!!! All of Dionne's 70's lp's are OVERLOOKED pieces of Great Music!!!
Thom Bell one of the best producers, songwriters ever produced this lp on Dionne, this lp i think is her smoothest vocally, great songs, just a wonderful cd!!

don't overlook this hidden gem.......2007-06-14

i felt compelled to defend this great disc after reading the last review. i don't consider myself someone who fancies "avant garde" all that much, but this falls well into line with other downtempo experimental. if you like lamb, tricky, boards of canada, aphex twin (the quieter ambient stuff), and especially ennio morricone, then give this one a try. don't expect any driving beats - this isn't an album you dance to. it's one you put on while you contemplate life.

although there is an element of glitch, they add floating piano riffs, horns, ethereal female vocals, and other organic elements to create a spooky, haunting soundscape. i got this back in 2000 as a promo when i worked at a music store, and have held onto it all these years and come to appreciate it even more. i've since sold many of my lamb, tricky, and other albums of that era but have kept this. there is a great balance of open space to music, letting the harmonic dissonances linger. their brilliant sense of timing is what allows the disharmonies to work so well.

I was very disappointed in this CD. I wish they would let me rate it less than 1! Foehn is supposed to be one of the "better" groups in Europe, but you wouldn't know it here. Described as an exercise in "harmonic disharmony" this 28 track disc sounds more like a junior high band concert. It might be nice if they ever get in tune with one another. Many of the tracks are quite short, barely a minute, so don't think that with 28 tracks you are getting a lot. After playing this several times (because sometimes certain music can grow on you) I offered this to friends who favored avant-garde type music. They didn't like it either and brought it back. I don't know if I dare to plunk my money down for another work by Foehn, after this experience. Deb Parsons, the lead singer, has little scope for her excellent voice, you only hear her muted on a few tracks. Mostly ...well, go tape record your 6th grade nephew's concert and you will have the same only cheaper.
