This was one of the best-selling Christmas records of the 1960s, and with good cause! Somehow, without the fatherly image of Bing Crosby, or the svelte croon of Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett, or even the reverent innocence of Perry Como, Andy Williams managed to make a holiday institution! This collection of Christmas songs is full of standards normally identified with other artists, but armed with an average tenor and lots of exuberance, Andy Williams made them his own. His "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is the most exhilarating version of the song there is, and even his "White Christmas" and "O Holy Night" are more than just passable. Lazy Mastering.......2007-01-23

C'mon Sony! Put at least a little effort into your Christmas reissues! I own this and Andy's other Christmas album, as well as Tony Bennett's Sony Christmas album, and they did the same thing to all three - They sapped the life out of the recordings by filtering out the highest frequencies to reduce the tape hiss. They could have reduced the hiss by utilizing other methods, but that would have required effort. I guess Sony doesn't take their Christmas offerings very seriously.

Greatest Christmas album ever!!.......2004-12-09

My sisters and I grew up listening to Andy Williams Christmas music. I remember sitting on the couch in the basement waiting for my mother to put it on for us, then we would just go crazy singing and dancing along with all of the wonderful songs. Years later we tried desperately to find it at countless record stores, at least that's what they were called back in the 80's, but we could never find it. I was so happy to find it here! It is timeless! It has become a part of my children's holiday tradition now too!

Without a doubt,this is one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all-time. This album was released in late 1963,several months after Andy Williams' best-seller,DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES. I hear several songs from this album over the satellite feed at my workplace. The best tracks are THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR,also recorded by Johnny Mathis and Amy Grant. A SONG FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE(I hope the title is correct) is a slightly different version than what's known as THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS. THE HOLIDAY SEASON is awesome. All the other songs are good. The cover photo is very ideal,with Williams sporting a tuxedo. After 41 years since the release of this album,it still sells by the dozens every holiday season. Many people who own an LP copy have gotten a CD copy as well. Originally,this album was available in both mono and stereo. Around 1968 or '69,monaural LP copies have ceased production.

The best ever.......2003-12-17

If there ever was a classic Christmas album, this is it. Andy Williams' legendary voice along with pitch-perfect orchestrations make this an essential Christmas album. Just listen to his version of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"-- Christmas songs just don't get better than that.

I was driving home the other day in dismal pre-Christmas winter weather, and I wasn't quite feeling in the Christmas mood yet. Then Andy Williams holiday paen "It's the Most Wonderful Time Of the Year" came on the radio,and it felt like a big warm hug! Suddenly, Christmas came alive for me again, and I ordered this as soon as I got home. I should be getting it any day now, and I'm pre-rating it 5 stars 'cause I know I'm going to love it. Williams' honey vocals combined with these holiday classics will make this one of our best Christmases ever! I grew up watching Andy's Christmas specials and I should have bought this years ago! Now I can share it with my children! Thank You Andy! And Happy Holidays to everyone! :-D

If you enjoy X-mas, you'll love it ten times more if you get this album. I can listen to this anytime of year, it's that good! It's like the Sgt.Peppers of Christmas albums.

Andy Williams Christmas Album.......2007-02-12

The Andy Williams Christmas Album is perfect for anyone who grew up watching his television Christmas specials. While his age does show a bit in these recordings, his heartfelt phrasing and attention to dynamics as they pertain to the lyrics and arrangement are still top notch. And he is still able to hold a note with quality and feeling.

Not my favorite.......2007-01-09

This is a live album and it just doesn't have the nostalia of some
of his other Christmas albums, but thanks for trying Andy and it
adds a little variety to the other albums.

A fine live recording of a Christmas Show from his Moonriver Theater in Branson.......2005-12-13

Andy Williams has always had a wonderful light tenor voice for popular (not really pop) music. This was recorded live at his Moonriver theater in Branson Missouri. His voice is a bit aged from its very best in the sixties, but it is still quite good. Williams shows us what he is capable of today and puts on a very fine Christmas show. He has some guest singers with him included the Osmond Brothers (whom he helped launch on his television show way back when).

He opens with his signature song, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". It is a delightful piece and a perfect way to set the tone for what follows. He has a variety of pieces, some light ("I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"), some sacred ("O Holy Night". He even has an audience sing along for some traditional sacred carols.

Williams also reads the famous Jimmy Bishop piece recounting how Jesus, basically a nothing as far as the world is concerned, has transformed the world more than all the armies, navies, philosophers, kings, or Presidents. Nice touch.

A fine addition to your Christmas disk collection and a very nice choice to have filling your home with Christmas joy.

I have heard countless attempts at good Christmas albums. I must say that this Andy Williams cd is unparallel. He truly is, in my opinion, the greatest Christmas singer ever. He has a fantastic voice and his guests on the cd just compliment his music that much more. Definitely worth buying.

Christmas crooning from Andy Williams (live in concert!).......2004-03-15

Andy Williams is certainly one of the finest classical singing showmen. He'll never be the legend that Frank Sinatra is, but his smooth, enthusiastic voice and pleasing demeanor are unmatched when it comes to putting an audience at their ease.

This Christmas album is a prime example. It consists of many traditional carols in their usual way. If you shy away from the more "contemporary" Christmas music - the kind which may incorporate rap, R&B, electric guitars, etc. - this is a sure-to-please purchase. Andy Williams also sings a couple of original songs including, "Christmas Needs Love to Be Christmas".

Lorrie Morgan and the Osmond Brothers bring some wonderful harmonies about halfway through the album...as well as a few corny jokes (but the good music makes up for that). If you remember the Sweeny Sisters comedy/music act from Saturday Night Live (during the mid-late 80s), the jokes are about on that level.
