I can say, that I'm a huge Marilyn Monroe's fan. And I have huge Marilyn's CD collection at home. But when I saw this, my heart stopped beating for a short time, because in this collection there are almost every Marilyn's song! Here are 2 DC's and it is so amazing, that here is the live performance from Korea, where Marilyn sang for the army men.
So, if you are a Marilyn's fan, or you want to surprise Marilyn's fan - this is the right choice. No, really - I'm telling you!

I found this CD to be unique as well as entertaining. It actually highlights many excerpts of Miss Monroe's movies, i.e., "Bus Stop" ("That Old Black Magic"), "Something Gotta' Give", etc., I really enjoyed thus CD. It should be considered a-must for all Marilyn Monroe fans.

Sometimes it would pay to read reviews more closely. Had I read that these songs were medleys and were of poor quality, I would not have wasted my money. Unless you are a die hard Dean fan and want anything by this crooner, avoid this package. The sound quality is horrendous and the song titles are misleading as you find out when the song becomes a medley. All these complaints were listed in other reviews. So buyer beware ! Pass on this one.

While the recording quality is not the finest (actually it's pretty bad in places), this is Dean Martin as those who faithfully watched his television show and saw his movies remember him. One disc is chiefly from his TV show with 4 of his earliest recordings from the 40s plus one combined performance with Sinatra and Davis on the end. The titles on this disc are misleading because many of the tracks are medleys, complete with the Golddiggers. The other disc contains songs from his films - most duets or trios and many with Lewis. Those of us who can remember vintage Dean will find this set a trip down nostalgia lane. It's a real pleasure trip for me.

Poor C/D sound quality. It is, as if, you are listening to Dean on AM radio. If you are looking for a swinging C/D to play @ Martini-time, this is NOT the C/D, for you. I almost tossed it, after listening to Shirley Mac's version of Innamorata...PLEASE BE AWARE.

      This album contains songs from the brightest and most accomplished personalities of the 20th Century. The songs span from the 1920s until the 70s. Al Jolson opens the alum with his career defining song Mammy; the song was his trademark, and he himself the most popular Broadway star and film actor at one point. Next on the bill is Rudolph Valentino, singing Kahmiri Love Song, the only audio recorded legacy of this classic silent film star. As the songs fly by, we hear blonde bombshell Jean Harlow rasping out Reckless, Fred Astaire classically singing Chee to Cheek, Marlene Dietrich with Lola, ad Judy Garland giving her famous rendition of Over the Rainbow. Mae West, Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford, and Rita Hayworth do some numbers too! The males hold their own, with stars like Jimmy Stewart and Clark Gable, Gene Kelly and Jimmy Cagney. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby sing the hilarious theme song from Road to Morocco and Dorothy Lamour sings a beautiful solo piece entitled Lovely Hula Hands.

      The second C.D. is the latter half of film music, including Marilyn Monroe breathlessly singing Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, Crosby's White Christmas, Ann Miller singing Too Darn Hot,and Maurice Chevalier with Thank Heaven for Little Girls. Superstar Bette Davis does They're Either Too Young or to Old. Louis Armstrong performs Hello Dolly! Gloria De Haven sings a beautiful rendition of Who's Sorry Now and Noel Coward entertains with a hilarious version of Let's Do It. Cary Grant, Jack Nicholson, Robert Mitchum, Tyronne Power, and even Marlon Brando do their numbers.

      This album is truly a must have. It's not the songs that make it, and it's not the films their from...what this album does is represent brilliantly the cinema superstars of the century.

        This cd is made in Italy and surely Italians do have an appreciation for good voices when they come their way.
        Here's the listing of the artists on this cd: The first five songs are by Mahalia Jackson. Track 6-10 are by The Golden Gate Quartet. Tracks 11-15 are spirituals done by the classical opera singer Jessye Norman. Tracks 16-20 are by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, with full rhythms section along with The Southern Mission Choir. These are among my favorites from this cd, full swinging joyful and lively takes!
        Track 21 is an early recording of Aretha Franklin, from her early teenage years. Tracks 22-26 are by Paul Robeson and tracks 27-30 feature another classical singer doing spirituals; Shirley Verrett. Tracks 31-35 brings us some swinging quartet style singing by The Mississippi Singers and tracks 36-39 gives us another singing group, doing different style though - The Oak Ridge Boys. The finale is by the divine Sarah Vaughan - a singer that could easily have had a career as a classical singer but chose to stay in the jazz field. She completes this selection with a grand version of The Lord's Prayer.
        So this cd brings you a variety of vocal talents and if you're not turned off by classical singers you'll enjoy it.
