Excellent worship album.......2006-01-22

Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus is the band's second album devoted entirely to songs of praise and worship. With longtime Petra producers John & Dino Elefante at the helm, Petra Praise 2 is an excellent collection of praise and worship songs. My overall favorite song here is The Holiest Name. I love the vocal harmonies on that track. Some other songs I really enjoyed include Be Of Good Cheer, Ancient of Days, Lord, I Lift Your Name On High, Lovely Lord, and the title track. The CD closes with We Need Jesus, in which John Elefante (former Kansas vocalist) and Lou Gramm (ex-Foreigner vocalist) join Petra frontman John Schlitt (formerly of Head East) on lead vocals. If you're looking to rock out to standard Petra fare, you are likely to be disappointed, but if you are looking for a great contemporary praise and worship CD, give Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus a try. This is a great worship album!

Not the rockin side of Petra but still good........2004-03-14

This cd may not be the most rockin one in the recording history of Petra, but it still has good musicianship and production. Several of these songs may be heard in churches all over the country. Though they may not use the same key, the words are probably the same. This cd is the second one without Petra founder Bob Hartman as a touring guitarist. He is still featured here as a songwriter/studio guitarist. This cd also marks the begining of a then (1996)new era in the bands lineup history. On here there is a new bass player, guitar player, and keyboard player. The style on this cd is mostly pop or contemporary. There are a couple of rock songs on here: Show your power and Be of good cheer. The song "Be of good cheer" is the hardest one on this CD. "Show your power" is done in a lighter rock style. The interesting thing about the title song is that it features Petra lead singer John Schlitt with two guest lead singers; John Elefante ( Petra's long time producer and one time Kansas vocalist) and Lou Gramm (from secular rock band Foreigner). It is really cool to see secular musicians become Christians. John used to be the lead singer for classic rock act HeadEast. He later joined Petra in the 80's and has been with them for at least 15 years. The cd booklet contains individual song sheets with chords, lyrics, and musical notation for each song. If you want to listen to praise songs performed by Petra but are not in the mood for heavy guitars, then this cd is probably for you.

This is a great album and Lord I Lift your Name on High is a great song. It is all very nice
