5 out of 5 stars Paris still remains at the top of his field..........2002-04-10

At a time when there is such a shortage of male jazz singers(the only truly great new male jazz singer is Kurt Elling), along comes from out of obscurity Jackie Paris to save the day. It seems we have to listen to singers like Paris, and Mark Murphy who today are still in prime form. On this exellent gem of a cd, Paris is heard still in prime form(his appealing baritone was always a little wobbly, but that's what made him so hip & charming), he was a favorite among other jazz musicians, nad Will Friedwald has mentioned him a few times in his book "Jazz Singing." Paris gives a very memorable performance on "Tis' Autumn" and accompanies himself on guitar very succesfully. This is one of the classic jazz coval cd's of today and is definately worth acquiring, especially if your a Paris fan.
