good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27
We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.
memories.......2007-02-22
This cd is excellent it has a lot of very good music and true to the original sound, Am getting a lot of enjoyment, highly recomended
TV Theme Songs.......2007-01-13
This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.
TV themes.......2006-07-05
Not all what I expected, not all of the tunes are the original recordings you remember as the TV themes.
Deja Vu.......2006-02-17
Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

A new album from Hank Williams III is always a revelation: first, because it came out at all (his relationship with his label is as stormy as the marriage of his legendary grandparents); and second, because of its content and execution. So it's something of a miracle to see a 2-CD set of some of III's most hardcore Hellbilly (as opposed to the relentless screaming of his Assjack), especially as a number of the songs had been scheduled to appear on his unreleased 2003 album Thrown Out of the Bar. Hank III calls the new offering--recorded mostly on a $500 machine, for a DIY sound--a "thrill ride into a life of sin." This may explain the fact that Straight to Hell, which opens with some old-fashioned gospel and abruptly ends with the sound of a belly-laughing Satan, comes with a parental advisory sticker. He earns it, all right, especially on "Dick in Dixie," which is not a song about a man named Richard. As usual, III spends a lot of time pointing out what's wrong with Nashville; worshiping pills, weed, and wine; and self-mythologizing. But when he gets down to business, putting his graddaddy's bray on such songs of misery as "Angel of Sin," well, all is forgiven. III also gets big points for the second disc's 42-minute hidden track, a self-indulgent but brilliant pastiche of sound comprised of a Hank Sr. song ("I Could Never Be Ashamed of You"), snippets of a Wayne "The Train" Hancock tune, a fragment of a song III wrote with ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons, a little Cheech and Chong, as well as assorted sounds of a speeding train, runaway horses, pig snorts, a gunshot, and some hellfire-and-brimstone preaching. A drug-laced dream? The soundtrack to that journey to Hades of the album title? Damned interesting, either way. --Alanna Nash
Customer Reviews:
Hellbilly Hellraiser!!!.......2007-06-26
To call this latest Hank III release revolutionary should demonstrate just how far country music has fallen from its roots. However, if anyone should lead the charge to regain the outlaw image while redefining the mythology of country, it ought to be Hank III.
Simply put, this is an absolute masterpiece. While Broke, Lovesick and Driftin' is a crooner of a record grandpappy would be proud to hear, Straight to Hell offers the best of all country and western has to offer. And make no bones about it, Hank III is serious about his country. Everything from bluegrass to hillbilly to southern rock can be found here.
You can also find the reverance of a young man who knows his country roots. Country Heroes is an ode to those outlaws that came before him. The men on which country has come to rest and, in times of need, fallen back on. D Ray White pays homage to III West Virginia roots while reminding Country music lovers who this music is really about.
And yes, there is the country mythology. Whether Hank has done half the things he claims makes no difference. The energy, enthusiasm and integrity with which he performs will make you believe just about anything. For all I know, he wrestled a grizzly bear with one hand tied behind his back while chuggin' a beer. Hell, that is tame compared to some of the content within.
At times the pace is so fast you can't help but wonder how they pulled it off. If you are ever trying to get your moonshine over the border, fuel up with Dick in Dixie. This steamroller of a song will have you burning a whole in your boots.
Then there is Low Down, a mid-tempo, southern rock diddy that could just as well been done by Hank, Jr. And the blues based tune, Not Everybody Likes Us, lets you know exactly what Hank III really thinks of todays state of Nashville.
'Old school' country fans may find some of the lyrics a bit harsh. There are plenty of drug references and colorful metaphors to describe sex. New country fans will not care for Hank's direct approach to the latest happenings with today's country scene. However, these are trifle matters easily brushed aside by the brilliance of this disc.
Oh yeah, and that is only disc 1. If the first disc has you reaching for the bottle, the second disc may just land you in jail. Enjoy!
10 Stars.......2007-06-07
Yeah, what everybody else has said and more. This CD gives me renewed faith in American music. I'm not a country music fan but I learned the words and sang along to Hank's records when I was a little kid and now, after the crap that Jr. puts out, here we are again, Hank Williams raising hell and turning things on their heads. Man, I cannot hear this CD enough. The songs are great, period, but don't overlook the musicianship, which is balls-to-the-wall great. Also a great act to see live if you get the chance.
Hell Is Right! For Me It's Freezing Over!.......2007-04-15
Now, I certainly hope you can take the word of a guy who has never been into country music. I dip into so many genres, and country I had always avoided intentionally. Listening to this cd I realized why that is. For someone who doesn't like country, the only place you will hear any country is on the radio or on tv if you happen to be within earshot(or riding shotgun in a car with some schmuck who's blaring and singing along with it). And what kind of country is played on the radio and tv, children? Like any other popular music station, 100% Grade-A crapola. Hank is certainly an eye opener. Hank reminds me of the stuff my grandparents were listening to when I was very young; Stuff that sounded like it came from the heart and soul, not pop music with fake southern accents. Hank is country the way I always felt it should sound. Hank sings about heartbreak, drinking, and his idols. He's not afraid to glorify drug use and make a slam on pop country every chance he can. Kinda like the Manowar of country if you will. The fact that Hank's singing from the heart comes right through your speakers. You can practically feel it, and his enthusiasm and love for country becomes downright infectious. You find yourself going, "Yeah, Hank! You tell em how it is!" This is a guy right at home and having the time of his life playing songs in a bar with rowdy, dedicated fans, not prancing around in an enormous arena with 80 band members and wearing one of those secret service earpieces(that ever really seem "country" to you?). Hank is "keepin' it real" as those wacky kids like to say nowdays. Not one throwaway tune on Straight To Hell, so you need not bother with that skip button, just put it on and let it run. Disc two shows us that Hank's also into experimenting with sound. Lots of acoustic tunes with noises and sound effects in between. If John Zorn were to do a country album, it'd probably sound something like this. One of the sounds is a few minutes of a locomotive. If you have a good sound system at home and turn this up, you'd swear you had a train going right through your living room. Needless to say Brooks and Dunn won't be doing a disc like this soon. But as I said before, you want the real deal, this is it. I'm definitely no authority on country music, but I know what I like, and judging by the previous reviews for this cd, I seem to be on the right track. Get yourself on track!
I Like Hank III.......2007-03-22
I really enjoy the music of Hank III. I own almost all of III's releases and each has some strong tracks on them. This one has some, too. I dig Satan is Real/Straight to Hell, Crazed Country Rebel,
and Dick In Dixie, but that's about it. That 42 minute whatever on disc
2 is a waste of space. For any disc to deserve 5 stars more than half of the songs should be good. Hank III has still not reached this yet...
Hank 3 at his best!.......2007-01-10
THIS IS THE BEST COUNTRY ALBUM I HAVE EVER HEARD KICK BACK AND ENJOY, START TO FINISH!

About as much Andy Williams as one needs.......2006-08-04
Being a Sinatraphile, I don't often like to venture into the domain of other "Easy Listening" singers; I generally stick with the best. However, every now and then I pop in something different just for the sake of variety. If nothing else, it makes me appreciate Sinatra that much more. But I digress. Williams has a very smooth, pleasant voice. He's not offensive, his voice is distinctive, and he has sung some good songs. Besides, he was a friend and supporter of Bobby Kennedy, so he must be a halfway decent guy. This collection is pretty solid: his signature song, "Moon River," is here; "Can't Get Used to Losing You" is a damn fine, catchy tune; "Dear Heart" and "Days of Wine and Roses" are also quite good, though my favorite song on this collection is the beautiful "Emily." There are some standards and a couple I could do without, but overall I would consider this a good buy.
You just don't hear these songs anymore.............2005-07-20
Listening to Andy Williams brought back lots of memories. You just don't hear these songs played on free radio anymore. Now I can listen anytime I want. Great CD!
What kind of singer!.......2005-05-08
When finally you decide to make a personal list of the greatest American crooners in the past Century you must include him necessarily. His voice has a singular style and could to make a real journey from a tour de force song to the most slender song under the moonlight-
Andy Williams will be always remembered due his fascinating charisma and personality. His version of Autumn leaves, for instance is one of the five best I know, but there will be always Williams
Sweet Memories.......2005-01-24
These songs bring back so many memories from my childhood. I remember dancing in the kitchen with my dad while this tape played. Now I'm 17 and we still have the tape. so when I found the cd on here I had to buy it. My favorites are: "can't get used to losing you", "Moon River", "Born Free", "Danny Boy", "Impossible dream", and my all time favorite..."Emily." It was always a special song since my name is Emily. I know that this was more sharing my feelings than reveiwing the cd, but thats ok. I highly recommend this album. Andy Williams is one of the best.
I bought this one because of a dream..........2004-12-02
One night I had a dream in which Andy Williams appeared. It was really bizarre. I was skiing down the side of a mountain with Eve Plumb and I suddenly fell down. I looked up and Eve was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, Andy Williams appeared.
I asked him to help me up and he asked if I owned any of his albums. I said I didn't. He said he'd help me up if I promised to go and buy one of them. I promised I'd buy one, so he helped me up. Then he and I and Eve Plumb went to a diner and had hot chocolate together.
It was such a weird dream. Usually other celebrities don't appear in my dreams about Eve Plumb. I figured it was some sort of sign, so I went and bought this CD the very next day.

Petula Takes Dusty to Music School.......2007-06-10
I bought this CD for two reasons. One for the stunning cover of Petula Clark and the other is Petula doing a song with her 60's rival Dusty Springfield. Incredibly the song has never been released until now!
Duets with Petula Clark.......2007-05-16
This is a must have for any fan of Petula Clark. This represents some of her finest work. Her ability to harmonize with the partner solidifies her place among the finest recording artists of all time. While all the tracks are exceptional, the #s with Dusty Springfield, Peggy Lee, and Andy Williams are Grammy material. She actually wrote the song with Andy just this last year. What a talent....
A must buy for Petula diehard fans.......2007-05-08
A product such as this is clearly aimed at the diehards market. A collection of rarities comprising mostly live duets with other established artistes from 60s and 70s TV, "Corner Of The Sky" is the standout track here. Dusty Springfield is in top form, her vocals from a 1974 recording session as gorgeous and perfectly nuanced as ever. Petula Clark added her own vocals over Dusty's incomplete recording quite recently to fulfill a deeply held desire to have sung with Dusty while she was still alive and the result is - barring some awkward phrasing by Petula on the first chorus - simply smashing.
"Baby It's Cold Outside" (with Rod McKuen) is also great - it works so much better than Rod's duet of the same song with Dusty on his late 70s Christmas TV special because this kind of song suits Petula so much better than Dusty. Other special highlights for me include the incredibly gritty "Can't Get You To Love Me" with Gilbert O'Sullivan which proves Petula's situational rock credibility and her well matched duet of "I'm A Woman/Wedding Bell Blues" with the late great Peggy Lee.
There're other good stuff with Harry Belafonte and Bobby Darin, but I'd be lying if I said the album is devoid of turkeys - the Andy Williams number in particular is a low point.
All in, "Duets" is a must buy for Petula diehard fans.
A FRESH BREATH OF AIR.......2007-04-11
Nothing Petula Clark does can be wrong. From her very beginnings she was way ahead of the crowd making versions of continental hits a specialty of the European hit parade, transcending borders and gaining fame and recognition everywhere except-where else?!?- the US... Even though she was already well established in the rest of the world as one of England's top chanteuses in the early 60's , it was'nt until "DOWTOWN" that she finally became a household name in Peoria. This collection will most likely appeal to her fans only, though there are plenty of other well known artists here to appeal to a wide audience-not just "Downtowners"
Brand New Petula & Dusty! WOW.......2007-04-01
This Cd is well worth the purchase if only for the brand new duet by Petula and Dusty (that history is written about in another review, I won't bore you with it again) but I will bore with HOW GREAT IT IS! While I am tempted to be sad there are not 11 more duets by Dusty and Petula on this cd, I will rave about this great song and it's great singers. The balance of cd is also nice, but the Duet with Dusty is grand.

In the three years between this album and its epic-scaled predecessor, The Last Broadcast, Manchester trio Doves were obviously doing something more artistically rewarding than mere touring. It's not that their sense of ambitious scale has waned. It's that it has been refocused inward here toward personal matters and the state of their Northern UK homeland. The title track and thumping, soul-inflected single "Black and White Town" state as much early on. But much more than Doves' subject matter has evolved as well. The album's sonically intriguing mix of influences fuse singer Jimi Goodwin's unabashed hook jones with bottom-heavy club rhythms and the restless, expansive instincts of multi-instrumentalist twins Andy and Jez Williams. Then, all is channeled through the fuzzy aura of too many youthful 3am's at Manchester's famed Hacienda nightspot.
The gorgeous moodiness of "Snowden" and string-drenched, mouth-harp seasoned "The Storm" show how far the band has evolved from its early Sub Sub incarnation/Manchester heritage, even as the bigger-than-life "Walk in Fire" shows just how deep those roots go. It's a magnificent record, one whose sense of scale belies its innate efficiency, and arguably Doves' most wholly satisfying to date. --Jerry McCulley

The Mancunian Epic Continues!.......2006-11-11
Another great album from a band whose glory days are ahead of them. All of the dark and desolate enviornment of a post-industrial Manchester is captured in every note of this album.
Hardly can skip a track, do albums do that?? THANKS DOVES!!!.......2006-08-24
Loved LOST SOULS, one of my all-time favs of any group to be honest. Honest, full of intrigue and originality that hooked me as a Coldplay fan. I now consider myself a graduate of Coldplay to the Doves. Coldplay's music is very listenable, great for pop/rock today, but lacks the musicianship and experimental work the Doves are able to explore and provide for their fans. Coldplay is too predictable, bottom line. I do like their music however. Anyways, getting back from that tangent, Some Cities is so different from their previous efforts. Your not going to get another Lost Souls, which was an absolutely epic record. The only problem with that album was there were too many tracks. Every time I listen to the album I skip at least four tracks that bore me. However, there best work is on the album so how can you call it anything but great? Every album seems to have its lows. Last broadcast was similiar w/out such great tracks as Lost Souls. Getting to "Some Cities" I found this album to be their best overall effort. I might skip a few tracks when not in the mood, but going through the album I find such diversity with tracks like "almost forgot myself" "snowden" to my favorites "walk in fire" to the pounding drums and elevating beauty to an amazing guitar riff that leaves you breathless and with chills and goosebumps on the song "one of these days", Can't name a bad song on this album. I forget titles of the songs and have this song in my CD changer so much, I only know track numbers. Basically, if you need something to help wake you up from the boredom of Coldplay and their predictable songs and lyrics, pick this album up. SUCH A GREAT ALBUM, see what you think and if you don't have it yet, go straight to "one of these days" and turn that sucker up!!
It's okay.......2006-08-02
This album is like a shiney used car that is prone to breaking down: it seems nice on the surface but you just can't get much mileage out ot it.
I really like the sound of this band, but when I bought the album, I tired of it quicker than I expected. It's funny: I can't think of a single song on the album I really can't stand except "Shadows of Salford" but as a whole it's hard to get into. It seems like they are trying to imitate Coldplay in places but not getting the desired result.
The best song of the album is "Walk in Fire" which has the lyric: "You're not free until you walk in fire." I think that's a pretty deep statement about the need to subject ourselves to painful trials to have complete self-control. There are several others worth hearing: "Black and White Town" "One of these Days" and "Sky starts Falling."
In summary, I find the album is good listening from time to time, but I need to give it a rest more often than albums by similiar bands, like Coldplay.
I would be open to hearing more of what this band has done. It sounds like they are really a good band who just had an off-day on the one album I happened to buy.
Another great Doves Album.......2006-07-19
Doves somehow retain their great sound yet always expand further into their musical expression.
This band adds to Last Broadcast and Lost Souls.
Someday Soon is my favorite song on this album. But every song compliments one another.
I cannot wait for the next Doves album.
And some not.......2006-05-21
While "lost souls" had the unmistakable feeling of secretly discovering forgotten objects and finding traces of urban structures in the middle of a desolate summer field with your best friend while sharing chocolates from a lesser known ex-soviet republic, "some cities" has the feeling of your friend coming over to play gamecube and later call up people on the speakerphone seeing what's up, what's happening, maybe hooking up.
The evocative splendor of appropriately lined tracks 1 to 6 of "lost souls" is nowhere to be found here, yet is replaced by the efforts to sustain it of tracks 7 to 12, but with more giving up and less trying.
Is this a really bad album, does it deserve TWO stars? Well no, not if you don't rate it compared to it's first-most predecessor.

The good old times.......2006-11-06
This has always been one of my favorite soundtrack albums. Being sung in Andy Williams' smooth voice is a plus. The best of the best!
True Classics.......2006-11-06
An excellent rendition of some of the best movie themes of all time.
Second Columbia album was huge success.......2005-01-14
After some earlier successes, Andy Williams joined Columbia in 1962 and recorded two albums for them that year - Danny Boy and Moon River, which helped to set his career going in the direction he wanted it.
Following encouraging sales of Andy's first Columbia album (Danny boy), his second, Moon River, brought together a collection of movie themes and made the top three in the American album charts. Curiously, the title track was never released as a single although it became his signature song. (In the UK, the song became a number one hit for Danny Williams - no relation).
Apart from the title track, the album contains Andy's excellent interpretations of such classics as A summer place, Maria, Never on Sunday, As time goes by, It might as well be spring, Three coins in the fountain and others.
With the Danny Boy and Moon River albums, Andy left nobody in any doubt that he was a ballad singer with no interest in recording up-tempo songs. That he was able to build a career as a balladeer despite changing musical fashions is a measure of the man's talent.
Andy Williams goes Hollywood!.......2004-12-09
My LP copy of this album is a hand-me-down. It was also a hand-me-down when my late grandparents owned it. My uncle got it at a garage sale with many other record albums in late 1979. Here,Andy Williams, although he never had a film career, goes Hollywood with twelve awesome movie themes from films theatrically released in the 40's,50's and 60's. This album was originally released in 1962 in stereo and mono. My copy was stereo(just how I like it). I first heard LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING on the GREASE movie soundtrack. It was recorded by an unknown artist(there were unknown voices but no words). A SUMMER PLACE was a hit in 1960 for Percy Faith. MARIA is so beautiful. I also love the "la-la-la-la's" on NEVER ON SUNDAY. The title track,co-written by Johnny Mercer and the late Henry Mancini is from 1961's BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY's starring the late Audrey Hepburn. All the other songs are good. Like THE ANDY WILLIAMS CHRISTMAS ALBUM,Williams sports a tuxedo in the cover photo.
The Good Times.......2004-02-16
Outstanding! Andy Williams performs like nobody else can. It forever reminds me of the "good old days" and how life, movies and music went hand-in-hand. I treasure it dearly and guarantee it will be one of your most prized possessions. I've listened to it for 40 years and I'm still overwhelmed by the beautiful songs and the wonderful memories they bring to life.
It is simply too beautiful for words.

Excellent CD.......2007-06-09
I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality for an old recording.
The CD is excellent.

I enjoyed The Hawaiian Love Song. I have been thinking about it since leaving Hawaii in 1976.
Andy Williams - Greatest Hits.......2006-07-12
I was not disappointed with this. The songs remind me of when I was younger & would watch the Andy Williams show on tv; a time when life seemed so much easier & more tranquil. If you're a BABYBOOMER I'm sure you'd enjoy this cd.
Andy Williams knows how to entertain an audience!.......2005-10-15
I hate to brag but Iowa is the proud home of one of the finest entertainers...Andy Williams. Everything he's done in his music repetoire is first class. This Greatest Hits is no exception. My personal favorite...May Each Day. I would probably end my day listening to this every night. It's a song that is touching and a pleasure to listen. When the holidays come I can't wait to hear him with The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Get this C.D. and find out for yourself!!
Who Knew??.......2004-07-31
Growing up in the 50s, I was blithely unaware that Andy Williams wasn't cool. My older sister had singles by Elvis, Ricky Nelson and Buddy Holly that I liked. But she also had a few by Steve Lawrence and Andy W. I liked to jump around to the "fast songs," to be sure, but I didn't think Andy and Steve were BAD per se.
Within a few years Andy was a fixture on TV, and as much as I preferred watching "American Bandstand" with my sister, I also kinda enjoyed watching Andy with my parents. Hey, it was ALL so much better than the insipid kiddie records which were, for the longest time, all that I was allowed to actually buy. Whether it was rock'n'roll or "Your Hit Parade," it all seemed SO much more sophisticated than those stupid orange 78s.
So I have fond memories of Andy, although of course, by the time I was actually a teenager myself, he was strictly squaresville. I think the last time I made a point to watch one of his specials was once in '67 or thereabouts when he had Jefferson Airplane on as guests. But then again, that spoke well of him. I mean as cool as Sinatra was, I don't recall HIM ever having rock acts on any of his TV specials!
And speaking of specials, PBS recently ran a special on Andy Williams (during fundraising time too, so it must have been considered a draw)! It was a nice stroll down Memory Lane, one that displayed his casual way with a song to good effect. Sequences that showed him duetting with the likes of Johnny Mathis and Pearl Bailey showed how well he could collaborate. (He handily traded quips with Pearlie Mae, and he and Mathis duetted while playing basketball, without dropping a note or the ball).
This Greatest Hits collection is one of several retrospective packages currently available. It's a pretty good overview and would serve well as an introduction to his work. I never thought that Andy Williams would inspire much passion even among his most ardent fans, but I see by the exchanges below that there is considerable disagreement about the selections on GREATEST HITS package. Well, with only eleven tracks, there's bound to be some disappointed fans out there. Fortunately, there ARE other collections--including a GREATEST HITS VOL. II.
I had an interesting experience listening to this collection though. I was enjoying the CD the few times I listened to it over regular speakers. Once I tried listening to it over headphones, I suddenly found the arrangements way too schlocky and was astonished to hear what (to my admittedly untrained ears) sounded like "sweetened" vocals. Why would anybody feel the need to "put a little echo" on an Andy Williams track. I have no problem with the double tracked vocal on "Can't Get Over Losing You." It's nice to hear a good singer harmonizing with himself, and that's what he does here. But he really didn't need additional doctoring, thank you very much.
Well, that was the 50s and early 60s for you. Strings galore, anonymous sounding background singers undercutting the strength of the vocals. And song selections that amounted to the standards of the day but weren't quite pages torn from the Great American Songbook. Andy Williams' warm rich voice was and is a treat to listen to. I can't help thinking, though, that it could have been used to greater effect.

Just like I remember it to be!.......2007-03-20
Remember back when we where kid's, our parents loved this music. Well I had decided a few years back, to start collecting those long ago favorites from my parents time. The sound is much better than the vinyl version but the songs are all the same. The other day, I took my Dad (now 80 yrs) for a ride and played this on our little road trip. We both cried when we heard "Speak Softly Love". This CD is packed with the old Andy William Favorites. I hope you enjoy as much as I. It will not only bring back old memories but, create new ones.
GREAT CD!!.......2007-01-30

Customer Reviews:
Where Do I Begin?.......2007-07-15
This is his first CD of newly recorded music (I believe) since 1991's "Nashville", although he did "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" with Denise Van Outen in 2002. The rhythm musicians include Leland Sklar, John Robinson (from Rufus!), Tim May and the CD was engineered by the legendary Bruce Botnick (the Doors, Love, etc.)! This is also the first time Andy produced an entire album! It was recorded at the legendary Capitol Records Studios, the 40 piece orchestra was recorded in Slovakia(!) and his vocals recorded at his theatre in Branson, Missouri. The background vocals were arranged by brother, Dick Williams.
The primary arranger is the magical, most wonderful Artie Butler (who arranged most of Andy's "Love Story" album in 1971) and in the liner notes Andy states that he first called Mr. Butler, "...you go to the best." Nick Hazard arranged "The Shadow of Your Smile" (the lone remake) and 3 songs were arranged by British arranger Ken Thorne.
Now for the song selections: Karl Wallinger (World Party!), for the Robbie Williams (no relation) hit, "She's the One", 2 songs both recorded by Rod Stewart: Van Morrison's "Have I told You Lately" and Danny Whitten's "I Don't Want To Talk About It", the Eagles' "Desperado", Mariah Carey's(!) "One Sweet Day", the Police "Every Breath You Take", the aforementioned "The Shadow of Your Smile" with Chris Botti, Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up is Hard to Do", Chris De Burgh's "Lady in Red", Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" (from the 1995 film "Don Juan DeMarco"(with mariachi horns, no less), the lone original written by Artie Butler, the title song, the beautiful "I Don't Ever Remember Growing Up", Smokey Robinson's "Just to See Her" and The Backstreet Boys'(!) "I'll Never Break Your Heart". Well, not since 1973's "Solitare" with producer Richard Perry has Andy Williams done SUCH a contemporary album. He states in the liner notes that "I picked 13 of my favorites and set out to make a new record." His voice is different, it doesn't seem to have the "huskiness" and the high notes are a little harder to reach but just for the mere fact that this is his first CD of newly recorded material is just cause to celebrate, not to mention that he collaborated with the best arranger in town, Artie Butler. If you are a fan, this is an essential CD to add to your collection. I wonder how it will sell?
