Songs from Always Hear The Harmony: The Gospel Sessions will be included in his concerts on selected stops.

Album Description
The soaring vocals of Engelbert Humperdinck join with gospel and country greats The Jordanaires, The Blackwood Brothers Quartet and The Light Crust Doughboys for a roots, southern-style country gospel album that's been called a classic in its field. Pop music icon Engelbert is creatively backed by musicians and singers grounded in the classic elements of the style--heaven-sent harmonies, barrelhouse piano, rocking rhythm guitars--and the results form an essential gospel album with unbridled passion.

Engelbert and Company have brilliantly avoided a bland, toothless, middle-of-the-road approach to inspirational music and instead have built an album that stands as one of the very best albums of the year.

Engelbert's famous voice is earnest and world-weary as he sings in a remarkable style which is part ballad singer, part r&b soulman. The old hymns of the centuries come alive, and the new songs sizzle with an arresting power. The Jordanaires, The Blackwood Brothers Quartet and The Light Crust Doughboys are perfect accompaniests, singing and playing with great soul and conviction. Indeed, this is a showcase for their sounds and styles, as well as Engelbert's.

This could be the most intimate and emotional music we'll hear on record this year--bold, gutsy, sanctified and real.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars the very best singing CD.......2006-11-17

My mom gave this CD to me for my collection as an early Christmas present, and it's the best singing CD I've ever heard. I'm trying to sing like Engelbert and learn these songs on my keyboard. The songs are the greatest, and the CD makes me feel just awesome when I hear the songs and when I sing along. My friends feel the same way, even though not all of them are Christian or are from Christian families. My favorite of all is Always Hear The Harmony, next favorite is Sending Me You, next is the Rugged Cross.

5 out of 5 stars Engelbert and gospel at their best!.......2006-07-16

A gem of an album, Engelbert has risen to the occasion of roots and spiritual music, and has given us an album for all seasons, one of the greatest albums of all time, particularly in this field. Engelbert has now conquered country and rockabilly music! This is one of the best-recorded, most spiritual undertakings in country gospel. A masterpiece of a production by Art Greenhaw of The Light Crust Doughboys, this album continues to receive raves and accolades from around the world including Grammy nominations. Engelbert is, of course, a legend, but this gem takes him away from the Vegas-Lounge mold and transforms him to a whole new plane of soul, grit and recording excellence. The best album of Engelbert's career, an essential Engelbert album, an essential and forever-classic country gospel album.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Productions Ever.......2006-03-05

As a close follower of Engelbert's records for years and years, and as a collector of gospel music and country music and even rock and roll, I'm compelled to say this is one of the greatest productions ever, and I totally disagree with one of the previous reviewers from Brooklyn, New York who I feel doesn't have a handle or a clue concerning this masterful production. First of all, this CD is wonderfully mixed and mastered, but it's not done in the sterile style of a New York contemporary hip-hop or pop production, it's mixed and mastered in the gospel and roots style in keeping with the greatest of the historic Capitol Records and RCA Records sacred and country performances of the past. The background singers surround Engelbert in sound like the classic live recordings of the best of the sixties and fifties. There's warm reverb. Engelbert's voice in this period of his career has never sounded better----and this CD is so superior in every audio and musical way to Engelbert's CD from the same period LET THERE BE LOVE, in my humble opinion. Contrary to the Brooklyn, New York reviewer's comment, there's is absolutely no distortion on "Precious Lord". As a student of gospel and classic recordings, there's some wonderful mild overdrive on the guitar and the gospel piano, and the Engelbert vocal is just perfect! Actually, "Take My Hand Precious Lord" is my favorite song on the whole album---a production mssterpiece. I probably have experience with 5 or so copies of this HIP-O CD that I've listened to and given away as gifts, and all copies are spot-on and masterful. Engelbert's voice is just right with the echo which is natural, vintage-sounding, and a component of all Engelbert's work. I feel very strongly that completely wrong reviews like that of the New Yorker reviewer should be challenged, and I appreciate the opportunity to do so on these pages. Fans, have no fear, this is one of the greatest gospel albums ever produced, with one of the greatest and best productions ever heard, right down to all recording and mixing. The CD's Texas and Memphis, Tennessee production team should be given 5 stars at every turn for their work. They are the very best, and this masterpiece was given Grammy nominations for this work. And let's let the record and the music industry speak for itself, this CD ALWAYS HEAR THE HARMONY has earned some of the highest praise for its total production from recording and mixing to everything else---directly from the Recording Academy and Grammies themselves. Fans of Engelbert, fans of great visionary recording, fans of gospel and American music---have no doubts whatsoever that when you buy this classic, you're getting one of the top traditional gospel and country-gospel classics that has ever been released. I'm just hoping that this stays in print forever. ALWAYS HEAR THE HARMONY---just maybe the best Engelbert record album ever---just maybe the best country-style gospel album ever---just maybe the best production and recording team EVER!

2 out of 5 stars Quality a Disappointment.......2006-03-03

I am a huge Engelbert fan, and the idea of an entire gospel album is perfect. He believes in this music and his voice and style had the potential to create one of the best gospel albums ever. However, the terrible production quality of this album has ruined it. Track 5, Take My Hand Precious Lord, has significant audible distortion. I sent it back for a new copy, and it had the same problem! The other tracks are mixed TERRIBLY. His voice is barely audible at times, and the rest of the time the mix is just an echoed mess with too much bass. None of his other albums have that problem, so I think his turning over the production of this album to some local guys in Texas, instead of his usual pro team, was a major mistake. I wouldn't buy this one if I were you. I sent it back and got my money back.

5 out of 5 stars A Classic by a Legendary Performer.......2005-11-13

Hats off to Enge for this CD. It's a classic and easily the best album of his career. The arrangments and vocals are simply perfect. Enge's performances are honest and heartfelt. This is a CD that will help get you through good times and hard times. My personal favorite is Nearer My God to Thee. I can listen to that song over and over and over and each time it rings true and touches my spirit.

If you like Elvis' gospel, you'll enjoy this CD. It's a southern gospel classic that won't disappoint.
