      This boxed set -- six compact discs plus a special picture disc -- is in reality the Bear Family collection "That Lucky Old Sun." It collects all of Laine's recordings for the Mercury label and for the smaller labels he recorded on before Mercury. And, like most Bear Family boxed sets, there's a 12"x12" hardcover book included, with extensive notes (I should know; I wrote 'em), lots of pictures and the most complete discography yet.

      A second Bear Family Laine box, containing all his Columbia recordings from 1951-55, is due in Summer 2001, with a third box, completing his Columbia years, set for 2002.
