During the mid '50s Maestro Percy Faith was churning out some of the best releases with top notch arrangements ~ thus enters the album at hand "House of Flowers/Adventure in the Sun", featuring Faith's Award Winning Orchestra. Each song has a signature arrangement tone to it, with "I'M GONNA LEAVE OFF WEARING MY SHOES" and the beautiful ballad "WAITIN'", both tunes from composer Harold Arlen, plus the entire Broadway score featuring Pearl Bailey ~ "I NEVER HAS SEEN SNOW", a haunting theme that goes on and on in your head, even when the music has stopped playing ~ "DON'T LIKE GOODBYES", beautiful violin solo entry as other members of the orchestra counter balance with each melodic fibre ~ 'TWO LADIES IN DE SHADE OF DE BANANA TREE", our favorite arranger takes liberties with this tune, gives the entire musicians union a work out.

Second half of the album features four Percy Faith tunes "CARMELLITA", "THE FIDDLING BULLFIGHTER", "HEY JOSE!" and 'TROPIC HOLIDAY", thus enters what we fans call "The Percy Faith Touch" sprinkles it's magic over the orchestration, simply unforgettable ~ "THE BANDIT (THEME FROM "O CANGACEIRO")", is truly a Faith gem, when this came out I played this track over and over again, couldn't get enough and I'm still under its spell .

Following the formula of previous Columbia Record releases ~ they've come up with two more winners for Percy Faith, featuring the classic style of sweeping strings that can only spell "Percy Faith" ~ hats off to all responsible for this outstanding package of both albums under one roof. This is one of those incredible albums in which each and every selection is excellently performed ~ it just doesn't get any better than this ~ gotta love it!
