Zing A Little Bing!
Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Andrew Parks is a classically trained opera singer, who returned to his roots with these standards. They are not sung operatically, but rather in the sweet, "croony" style of great pop singers; Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and of course Bing Crosby. Born and raised in Southern California, Andrew Parks studied music and theater at Occidental College, Northwestern University, and the Juilliard School of Music. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music.
Performers
David Snyder, keyboards John Smith, bass Mark Stevens and Jack LaCompte, drums Raymond Burkhart and Dennis Farias, trumpet John Yoakum, John Kip, Bob Carr, and Phil Feather, woodwinds David Ryan, trombone Joe Jewell, guitar Cynthia Ellis, flute Amy Wilkins, harp

One For The Ages.......2000-05-13
I would like to take this time to let you in on a little secret.......Zing a Little Bing is fantastic. You do not hear this style of singing anymore. Andrew Parks not only has a great voice but an uncanny style that brings you back to the days of Bing and Sammy. If you have not purchased your copy I insist that you do so as soon as possible.
Zounds! Zomething Zpecial!.......2000-05-03
This was a pleasant surprise. Vocalist Andrew Parks chose wisely to praise "Der Bingle" instead of bury him. By avoiding outright imitation, Parks fills this breezy collection of popular standards with his own mellifluous tone, and the results are a lot of fun. Why aren't more folks making records like this anymore?
Classic Popular Music Fan.......2000-05-02
Andrew Parks has not only captured the spirit of the original recordings, he has infused the songs with a palpable joy and/or tenderness for each one. The selection is great, and he has just the smooth, warm voice with which to deliver them. Good Show!
Parks and Crosby are Swingin'!.......2000-05-02
Wow! How very refreshing in this day and age to hear these classic tunes once again. Mr. Parks has an absolutely GORGEOUS voice. He gives real verve and passion to his interpretations. The new arrangments are cheerful, and they capture the spirit of a bygone era! Christine Ebersole and Vicki Lewis bring a special sparkle to their performances. This album is a must for any fan of Crosby, good music, or beautiful singing!
Classic songs in a classic style!.......2000-03-09
Wow! What sheer delight to hear these fun and singable tunes again! Mr. Parks has GORGEOUS voice and brings real passion and charisma to his interpretations. He reveres Mr. Crosby without copying him. Bravo. The new arrangements are jaunty, swinging and complex. It's hard to beat "San Fernando Valley" or "The High Society Medley". Guest Stars, Christine Ebersole and Vicki Lewis, bring a special sparkle to the album. A Must for any fan of Bing Crosby or of good singing and musicianship!
