I seriously doubt that anyone who calls these selections "thoughtless, boring, non-artistic earworms" has actually sat down and listened to these tracks. Since first listening to this compilation 2 years ago I've been turned on to some of freshest experimental jazz the industry has to offer.

I don't think it's possible to listen to Erik Truffaz or Jason Moran and honestly claim that their music is thoughtless or non-artistic. One could hardly lump Medeski, Karl Denson or Lonnie Smith in with produce section jazz.

Don't listen to an inconsistent review from someone who hasn't actually listened to this album. These are great selections from some of the finest artists on the scene. This album is more than worth the price. It provides a great listening experience and a starting point for anyone who wants to explore some hip music.

"Smooth Jazz" for Hipsters.......2004-02-14

This is a tasty, generous, laid-back sampler of some of the best contemporary jazz out there. Sure, there's a lot of cross-pollination with pop and hip-hop evident here, but that only broadens its appeal. And it's a damn sight better than most of the other "smooth jazz" compilations I've heard, which usually come off as Muzak with sax. There's enough funk and cool musicianship to keep it above most of that other pap. There are familiar names here: Norah Jones, St. Germaine, US3, Medeski Martin and Wood, and Cassandra Wilson, with the dash of hip-hop provided by Guru (from his intriguing "Jazzmatazz" project) and Soulive. And there are some "classic" jazz artists too, like Stanley Turrentine, Donald Byrd, Grant Green, and Julie London (!). All in all, it's indeed a chillin' mix, great for background, parties, or late-night listening.

CHILLOUT OR BURNOUT.......2003-09-24

This is corporate garbage, these songs are the early morning melodies in the produce section of your favorite mass-supermarket. I'm not kidding, these songs ARE played at supermarkets, thoughtless, boring, non-artistic earworms.
Just to keep you informed, most independent "reviews" on Amazon are actually the band's or Amazon's promo. Every cd is GREAT all get 4-5 star ratings, nothing bad, buy, buy, buy! Take the worst cd you own and find it on this site, my oh my, look at those stars!

Yes, this is a neat chillout CD..........2002-08-07

For all of us who would like to have some background music just to hang around the house... this is perfect music.

However, if you're into "chill music" for whatever reasons, this will do; just turn down the volume a bit.

As a compilation, these discs works well. Between St.Germain, Norah Jones singing Bryan Ferry, and the (now)unfortunately named "Slow Bombing The World", you'll be ready for Disc 2.

Medeski, Martin and Wood open the second disc with "The Dropper", one of their classics.

You'll almost finish the second CD (which is very good) with US3 playing one of the most requested songs *anywhere*...Cantaloop ("Flip Fantasia"). Warning! This is *without* the "biddy, biddy bop...funky, funky..."

MOS Does It Again,.......2006-03-05

Ministry Of Sound has always had the reputation of putting out the best music. They have a way of findind the best DJ's, Artists, producers and remixers from the 4 corners of the earth and bringing them to us on a CD. This CD is no exception. Soothing beats without lacking in tempo or energy, this CD could literally be enjoyed by a cowbow from Kentucky. It's just that palattable.

Tons of Great Songs with great mixes (which don't always go hand in hand). The previous review was too critical just becasue he already had many of the songs. Just read the list of all 40 Songs that come with this two CD set if that is a concern. There are enough good/great songs to justify at least 4/5 stars overall. If you love "Chill" music, there are too many good songs to pass this one up! Highly Reccommend.

yeah....this cd bit. i bought chillout sessions 4 last year, and looked forward to buying this compilation as well. unfortunately, it didn't live up to the last one. out of the 20 or so tracks on the first cd, i liked 2-3...and they were all on other compilations i already own. the same was true for the second cd. this was not worth the money. i was very disappointed.

Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to be going well and you just feel like throwing all your toys out of your pram?

Well this is the kind of music you need. It will open your up your mind...transport you to another world...and ultimatley get you back on track.

Every good downtempo track or artist you can probably think of from the past year or so is represented here - Joss Stone, Turin Breaks, Ikon, Jack Johnson, Coldplay...

Defintely not your regular chillout album full of bland repetitive beats...

The first disc is more laidback than the first...a wonderful collection of blissed out beats beginning with Zero 7's Home which gently eases you into chill mode. The second disc however gives you the option of uping the tempo with a dancier mix of grooves aimed at progressively lifting your spirits.

By the time you've worked your way through both discs, you'll be well and ready take on the world again!

A must buy if you're looking for an album to chill to...this is the ultimate in its class, an truly amazing mix of laidback house and blissful beats that make for the ultimate chill.

These discs have some of the best songs from many popular downbeat artists as well as some artists that at least Ive never heard of. Still a pretty well put together comp cd and pretty well priced for the number of songs. If youre just getting into the music its a good way to experience some of the best available.

Simply Chilling.......2003-05-11

After thoroughly loving The Chillout Sessions 2, I eagerly proceeded to buy this album, and I was not disappointed. From the funky beats of Groove Armada's "My Friend", to the earthy rhythm of Nitin Sawhney's "Sunset", this album was a mixture of blissful beats and chilled out house.

A personal (and perhaps obvious) favourite, was Zero 7's "Destiny". Nearly all the songs were excellent in their own right, with the only ones I didn't think belonged on the album were Basement Jaxx's "Romeo" and Lamb's "What Sound".

Following the same composure pattern as the previous chillout session, the first disc was filled with flowy, melodical beats, while the second disc was more dance-orientated.
