tom jones live at caesar's palace.......2007-02-12
my mother had the double album set back in the 1970's i kept it after she died.it still sounds great 37 years later. this cd shows the kind of entertianer tom jones is.
Third Tom Jones Live Set Finds Singer In Familair Territory.......2003-11-30
Live At Ceasars Palace was the third Tom Jones in concert album the singer released between 1967 and 1972. All three were million selling success stories in the US so the market from the welsh vocalist's concert material was strong. Here, Jones is in full swing from his 70's concert persona, dancing, rocking sex symbol, playful banter and flirtatious remarks surounding a mix of radio hits and 50's style rock numbers with occassional nods to R&B thrown in. The formula worked extremely well for the singer as he remained a major arena touring act well into the 80's, long after his act was no longer in vogue and his music not in the upper reaches of the charts. The banter and flirtations are captured much more in this set than the previous two Jones live albums, although nothing too risque made it to the final pressing. Vocally, the singer is in strong voice, particularly on his own hit singles like "I (Who Have Nothing)" and the impassioned "Delilah". Surprisingly, Jones saves most of his better known hits for a medley late in this set, depriving fans of full length performances of Jones mega hits like "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and "It's Not Unusual" among others. Only two more actual hit singles are performed in their entirety, the million selling "She's A Lady" and "Till". On the latter, Jones voice sounds almost identical to his actual studio recording of the song. Jones does traverse into R&B waters from renditions of "God Bless The Children" and rollicking run through Sam & Dave's memorable "Soul Man" while indulging his love for 50'e era rock and roll with a lengthy show closing medley spotlighting Little Richard material among others. In all this is a solid set, although the flirtations seem out of place when you can only hear them, unlike seeing the singer interact with fans live. Jones gabs and flirts alot but isn't a comedian, the banter will amuse but it will not make you laugh. Vocally he is in fine form, raising things up a notch not only for the power ballad "I (Who Have Nothing)" but also during a short Frank Sinatra tribute that includes a performance of "My Way". Tom Jones will not be dissapointed.
Tom in full swing.......2002-02-21
Of all the live Tom Jones albums this one comes closest to the "feel" of his fabulous TV variety show from 1969 to 1971. The arrangements sound essentially the same as on "This Is Tom Jones" and his performance is typically...Tom Jones. Great.
The burning opener, "Dance of Love", sets the tone and mood of the show. Although a little light lyrically, it does seems to borrow from the Everly Brothers' version of Little Richard's "Lucille", and so we're right in Jones' musical territory - sock it to 'em, Big Tom. Soon he settles in for many expected romantic bombasts like "Till" and "Delilah". Ofcourse, at the end it's Richard's "Long Tall Sally" which takes 'em home. [Interestingly enough, it's a *ballad*, "God Bless The Children", which, in a way, to a greater extent, shows Jones' artistic debt to Richard Penniman: perhaps Tom had in mind the long lost LR "B" side, "Hurry Sundown", a powerful movie theme ballad which shares some of the same aural qualities. It is the album standout.].
The musical mix is fine on this CD, but the artist-audience interactive thing is not captured as well as it could have been - on the TV Show you can hear the joyous emanations and this contributed to the excitement. On this CD this rapport seems to only occur when the ladies step up to the stage mike and cuddle with the A-TOMic one. Also, there is very little echo on his voice, a device which added resonance and impact on television.
I decline from issuing a "5" for this album in consideration of the lack of concert "pop", if you will, and the sense of routine to the proceedings. Yes, folks, it was getting a little tired. I don't mean Tom Jones' amazing voice. And the radio station programmers seemed to feel the same way: Tom didn't have a smash hit for six years after '71.
[By the way, when are those incredible Tom Jones TV shows going to be made available on home video? Rhino?! Somebody?!!......].
Hugs & Kisses.......2001-10-05
This is a great CD that allows us to hear the
fun and music from Tom's Las Vegas shows.
The hugs and kisses given between the songs
are both filled with humor and fun. The great
showmanship comes across with the great music.
The range of songs are from fun to serious.
A must for Tom fans.
High Energy Tom!.......1999-06-22
Of all the live Jones albums, this is the one that I believe really shows his energy and amazing vocal ability. Tom can definitly sing, but this one is heart and soul pouring out. If you only own one live cd by Tom, get this one. It is incredible!!!

Paul Bateman and "The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra" extend their listening pleasure with this latest release ~ "Shakespeare At The Movies"...backed by the world renown "Crouch End Festival Chorus" led by their Choir Master - David Temple. Also appearing...Kenneth Alwyn and Nic Raine to this already "blue-ribbon" 2-CD-Set of the finest music ever to grace the big screen.

Album Description
This recording features the premiere recordings of works by the late Lou Harrison and the legendary Harry Partch. John Schneider, guitarist and Los Angeles radio personality performs on a wide variety of guitars using such instruments as Partch's microtonal Adapated Guitars, Martin, Gibson and Fender guitars, a National Resophonic Guitar, and other instruments that feature tuneable fretboards for various types of Just Intonation. Lou Harrison (1917-2003) wrote his last guitar piece for National Steel guitar, custom fretted in Just Intonation. The Scenes from Nek Chand uses a six-note mode and is based on the sculpure and architecture of Nek Chand in northern India. Harry Partch worked on the adapatation of guitars in the 1930s, using one for his Barstow: 8 Hitchhikers' Inscriptions (1941) (available on BRIDGE 9041). The opening of Partch's long lost song cycle, December 1942, begins with a setting of the jester's song "Come Away Death" from Shakespearre's Twelfth Night. Three Intrusions (1949) are the first compositions to use Partch's newly invented Diamond Marimba and the Adapted Guitar 2. Both of these works feature Schneider singing and intoning the vocal parts, as well as performing on copies of Partch's Adapted Guitars.
Also available: Just West Coast, John Schneider guitars, BRIDGE 9041
Customer Reviews:
The only record of its kind, and well-done.......2006-01-10
While I too have some criticisms, I can't imagine anyone having the time to do all the unique things that had to be done to realize this album and still have time to get every little thing perfect. This stands beyond many albums in terms of performance and artistry. It is unique and varied. It is definitely a bit jolting in terms of consistency, from the electric-sounding track 1, to the Partch, whereas the rest is more normal guitar playing. But it is all worthwhile. Schneider's singing may not sound like Partch, but his inflection and interpretation are suberb in terms of following the composer's intent. His playing is technically brilliant. It is not fair but to view this as an early recording in a basically yet-to-be-explored field. I hope this album inspires many to build on the ground that Schneider and a few others are working to lay down.
inconsistent, directionless, some great material.......2005-10-15
The reason this recording is important is because it has several important pieces which are on record for the first time, a few by Lou Harrison, a few by Harry Partch. The performances are technically excellent but some truly lack soul. The album is for the most part consistent until we reach the Harry Partch material which seems out of place (this is when it takes a turn and makes the listener cringe), John Schneider sings on the Harry Partch tracks, the singing is very sub-par. He sings about being a hobo and riding a train but the voice sounds far too crisp and clean. But it's hard to complain because these are their first time on record and our only way to hear them. You need to close your eyes and Imagine a gruff, hairy, hobo singing them. Also, the piece written by John Scheider feels a little too melodic and peaceful for this record. This disk has some great material on it, but purchase with an informed mind.

Great.......2006-01-09
Caesar's Palace, The Caesars, The Twelve Caesars - they're all the same group. They go by different names depending on location - Twelve Caesars in most of Scandinavia, The Caesars in North America, and Caesar's Palace in Sweden, most of europe, and the rest of the world.
They currently have five albums:
39 Minutes of Bliss (as The Caesars)
Paper Tigers (as The Caesars)
Youth Is Wasted On The Young (as The Twelve Caesars)
Cherry Kicks (as Caesar's Palace)
Love For The Streets (as Caesar's Palace)
I hope this helps clarify some things.
I give EVERY SINGLE ALBUM five out of five stars - great vocals, great leads, great base, great melodies, great everything. If you like rock, don't pass this up.
Love for the Streets ~ Caesar's Palace.......2005-09-18
Love for the Streets~ Caesar's Palace is an ok album that never rises beyond mediocracy and therefore I give it three stars our of five. The vocals are alright but sound like they are pressing a bit much. The music sounds like anyother rock band but the sound is muffled and it sounds like it was recorded in one of their friends basements and the sound of the instrument is way below what is considered ok for well produced album. The cover and font is a trainwreck and the book-let looks like a nine year old kid created it. The music is like I said just ok and the vocals and lyrics are likewise so it gets three stars and that is all it deserves.
Any rock fan MUST get this.......2004-06-15
I am a lover of many genres of music, and although rap and heavy metal are my personal favorites, I was awestruck after listening to Love for the Streets. After hearing the awesome track "Jerk It Out", and went out and got this CD - for the price of import, it paid itself ten times over. Every track on this album is golden, and never lets down. Any fan of alternative or punk rock, especially oldies alternative (or ANY kind of rock for that matter!) will love the special nostalgic sub-genre that has been forged by Caesar's Palace, a throw-back to the loose classic tunes of the 60s. A MUST get.
awesome import.......2004-02-10
This is one album that is in my top 5.
It is a blend of modern and 60's underground rock
nearly the entire ablum contains great music, although 1,000 mile stare is not great but it is passable. sadly this has not been released in the US but if you can afford it this would be a great addition to anyone's collection
OK..........2004-02-05
1 WHOLE GOOD SONG AND THE REST SUCK!!!!! but the song "Jerk it Out" is a realy good song that everyone should get on such places as Kazaa. other than that song it suckes.

Eidelman & Shakespeare!.......2004-10-07
Very fine sampling of some outstanding Shakespearian film scores ranging from Prokofiev and Shostakovich to Rozsa and Doyle with points in between. Closing out the program is Eidelman's 16 minute tone poem written for "The Tempest"! This is a excellent disc!
With his track record, I can't understand why Eidelman doesn't get blockbuster assignments.

Customer Reviews:
A high energy Tom Jones Las Vegas live show from 1971........1999-05-09
Tom throws his usual energy and The Voice into a show featuring both greatest hits and other songs. Tom Jones fans are bound to listen to it again and again.
OK live album.......1998-11-12
"Live at Caesar's Palace" includes a full show from 1971 - Las Vegas style. Tom's voice sounds a little rusty on some of the tracks, but then again really shines through on others. A good live CD, not his best, but definitely worth a closer look.

Customer Reviews:
By far my favorite album.......2001-09-01
This is one of the best CD-s I have in my collection. It is very easy listening techno music. Very well suited for car driving. It is very relaxing and yet energising. This is an awesome collection that you must have - if you enjoy techno.
