Just in Time: Judy Kuhn Sings Jule Styne

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Well known on Broadway for her roles in Chess, Les Misérables, and Sunset Boulevard, Judy Kuhn recorded her first solo album in 1995 with this tribute to Jule Styne. Kuhn has a striking, exceptional voice as well as an earnest approach to a lyric that makes you feel as if you're seeing straight into her heart. Songs range from the obligatory "The Party's Over" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses" to the faux-art song "I Said No." Two of the more unusual settings are "You'll Never Get Away from Me" with a rumba beat and the normally torchy "Music That Makes Me Dance" as a fast waltz; both work due to the skillful arrangements of Michael Skloff and the marvelous artistry of Judy Kuhn. --David Horiuchi --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

5 out of 5 stars Crystalline voice - pure talent.......2005-11-14

Judy Kuhn - undeniably one of the best musical theater singers of her generation. Her unique talent to deliver a flawless performance, plus solid vocal training, make her album a pure sonic joy.

What I love most about Judy, she's truly aware of her vocal instrument and perfectly knows how to use it to make the most of it; her crystalline clear voice even hits very high notes effortlessly. The singer brings Jule Styne's songs to a whole new level, making them sparkle and shine. You don't necessarily have to be a Broadway fan to enjoy this album - if you're simply tired of manufactured performers from the charts, and would like to hear a real Voice from someone truly talented, don't hesitate and give a credit to the wonderful Judy Kuhn!

5 out of 5 stars Superb ... but I want more!.......2002-10-04

I rediscover this album in my collection every few months and then I go on Amazon to see if she has recorded another album. I'm shocked each time to find out that she hasn't.

Please, Ms. Kuhn, get into a recording studio ... and sing. You are great.

5 out of 5 stars Spectacular Heavenly Voice.......2002-03-04

Judy Kuhn is the greatest singer ever recorded. She is rivaled only perhaps by Judy Garland, with Betty Buckley a close third. She has the most powerful voice I've ever heard, as is well reflected in "The Music That Makes Me Dance", her finest track on this CD. Buy it, listen to it, and beg her to record more!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2001-11-14

She's just an awesome Broadway singer. This CD has lots of cool jazzy songs. If you love jazzy boradway type of music, this CD is great to own!

5 out of 5 stars Jule Styne's best.......2001-08-03

I bought this Cd about 5 years ago, because I was looking for recordings of my "namesake" Jules music; and interpretations of my favourite song "Guess I'll hang my tears out to dry". I found the best in both, Styne's music and one of the best of this song interpretations. Why do I write this until now? Just to add a vote wanting another Judy recording.
