Love At First Sight.......2007-06-27
There is no doubt that Dionne Warwick has a magnificent voice. From the 1960s to today, her smooth R&B vocals have remained a factor on the airwaves of both AM and FM radio. From Warner Brothers Records, the 1977 release of Love At First Sight is no less a wonderful portrayal of the power of those vocals. Though it did not yield any significant hits, Love At First Sight does offer a "lost gem" in the East Coast Beach Music scene in track #10 "Do You Believe In Love At First Sight." Hard to find in most venues, this one song is worth the price alone.

The BEST of Kylie's wonderful career!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-06-23
Kylie Minogue has had a ton of catchy tunes, but "Love At First Sight" is head-and-shoulders above the rest. It absolutely rocks!!!!!!

I personally think she has done better CDs than this. By the way, this is the 'Love At First Sight' American ALBUM, not a single.

The Music You Were Playing Really Blew My Mind..........2002-10-28
The third smash international single from Kylie Minogue's smash album "Fever", is the second track promoted to America as a single. Climbing into the top 40, it was Kylie's fifth top 40 hit, following the top ten success of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". This Australian CD-Maxi release of the single is probably the best put together of the international releases, this package contains the b-sides and mixes that were released on two seperate pressings in the UK.
The b-sides of the single are wonderful, the first being a new version of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", filtered through New Order's classic single "Blue Monday." This new "Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head" is probably even better than the pop gem of the original. Next up is the great "Baby". An incredibly strong bonus tune, it could have easily made the album, and it did, as it's also available on the Japanese issue of the "Fever" album.
Next up is a trio of mixes, the best being the dance pop makeover by Twin. It keeps the pop feel of the song, but still manages to club the song up a bit. A nearly ten minute Ruff & Jam remix also holds it's own, providing a perfect mix to lose yourself in on the dancefloor. The only dud is the Scumfrog edit, a dark thumping mix, it really doesn't fit the song as well as the other mixes, and despite being in a bite-size edit format, it's still hard to swallow. Despite the one flawed mix, this package is excellent, and perfect for the fans of this song.
Destined To Be A Kylie Classic.......2002-08-17
Since the smash-hit No.1 single Can't Get You Out Of My Head from September 2001, Kylie Minogue has enjoyed her biggest success since 1988. Can't Get You Out Of My Head sold more than 1,150,000 copies last year to become the 3rd biggest seller of 2001. The No.1 album Fever has sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the UK (8,000,000 worldwide) and the hit single In Your Eyes hit No.3 in February. Her sold out European tour kicked off in spectacular fashion in April 2002 and has yet to finish. Love At First Sight is the third single from the amazing album Fever. My Love At First Sight single is the UK Version and features three songs and a video.
1. Love At First Sight (10/10) - This has to be one of Kylie's greatest singles ever. Not as strong as Can't Get You Out Of My Head, but catchier and stronger than In Your Eyes. Shame it wont get to No.1 because of that Elvis tune.
2. Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head (10/10) - This stunning remix of the No.1 single is (dare I say?!) better than the original. This was the version she performed at the Brit Awards 2002 in THAT skimpy white mini-dress. The 9 or 10 fasts beats are so cool and catchy (I think it's 9 - they go so fast I can't count!).
3. Baby (10/10) - This amazing song was included on some Import versions of Fever. I just don't understand why it wasn't included on the UK edition!!! It's just so catchy; "ba, ba, ba/ba, ba, ba, ba, ba". I know that doesn't give much away about the song - but remember Cant Get You Out Of my Head? You loved the "la,la,la"'s on that didn't ya?! Eh? Eh? Eh?
4. Love At First Sight (Enhanced Video) (10/10) - The video to Love At First Sight is absolutely amazing!!! Much better than the In Your Eyes video. I love the white lines all over the screen and the way the camera never changes from one shot to another - it stays focused on Kylie or the dancers all the time. She looks a bit dizzy and smitten in the video - so much so that she forgets she has her thong hanging out!!! And what is with the blue eyeshadow. Two words Kylie: "Ask somebody"!!!
The whole of this CD is fantastic - apart from the sticker. I like to peel stickers off and now I can't because it doesn't say who it's by on the CD cover!!!
GREAT SONG BUT AVERAGE CD.......2002-07-22
A new single from Kylie's excellent album. 'Love at first sight' is a song that gets you right from the start and keeps you feel alive long time after you have heard the song.
Kylie has demonstrated that it is possible to make dance music for dance and general people without filling tracks with loud beats all along the time.
Though the song is very good and the song 'Baby' is interesting too, the remixes of the title track don't do justice to the original song. So you'd better go to thew album if you haven't already got it.
If you have the album, there is not anything essential in this CD that you haven't heard before.

Fine reissue of a classic set.......2006-05-24
Think about the stupidest, most formulaic Hollywood movies you can think of: cheesy action pictures, fluffy, unfunny comedies, big but stiff epics. Now imagine that one of the greatest living composers was working in Hollywood, turning out astonishing, hauntingly beautiful and stirring musical scores for these throwaway movies. That's what you get with this set: music Henry Purcell composed for some two dozen often utterly forgettable plays (trust me--I've read a number of them!) Occasionally, when he teams up with a playwright worthy of his stature, such as John Dryden, Aphra Behn, or William Congreve, the results are even better, but for the most part you can enjoy the music here without knowing anything about the original plays.
This set originally appeared as separate LPs in the 70s and 80s, and has been long out of print. That's a pity, since Purcell spent a good deal of his short professional life in the theatre, either writing the incidental music contained on these CDs, or the music for his larger works, the semi-operas (King Arthur, The Fairy Queen, and the like). Almost all of these works are enjoyable gems; certainly, they represent a pinnacle of English 17th century music. Purcell had a genius for spinning musical gold out of the most leaden lyrics (check out his Odes and Welcome Songs on Hyperion if you don't believe me), and he does the same with the song texts in these plays.
Hogwood and the AAM offer clean, listenable performances, and the sound on these old analog discs has been cleaned up and brightened--although they were pretty good, even in the late 70s. As with most Hogwood, emotional extremes are kept to a minimum, so the "otherworldly" nature of late 17th century music, so often emphasised in more recent Baroque performances, doesn't come across here. It would be interesting to see what a group like The King's Consort would do with this music, but this set fills the major gap in the Purcell canon quite nicely.
My only beef with the reissue, as with many reissues, is that the liner notes are rather thin for a 6-cd set--the lyrics to the songs, for example, are especially missed. Still, it's a worthwhile set, and a must for fans of Purcell, English Baroque music, or anyone who just wants to experience a taste of the last days of the Restoration stage.

AS ALL GREAT FANS, I WANTED TO BUY THIS ITEM AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED NOT TO FIND IT ANYWHERE ON THE WEB. WEA SHOULD RECONSIDER TO REISSUE THIS ITEM ASAP !
VERY URGENT
Sublime.......2001-05-04
I just adore Dionne Warwick and was thrilled to find this, and several other of her albums re-released on import. Risking my bank manager having an apoplectic attack, I ordered them all and this one was the first to arrive. I was not disappointed and I can't imagine any Dionne fan being so when they buy this. It's very indicative of the time, but hasn't become twee with age. One of my very favourite songs is "Since you stayed here" and her version is just the best. Very simple, plaintive and with lyrics to die for. Perfection is CD shaped! If only "Track of the Cat" & No night so long" were re-released on CD, I would be a very happy fan.
Hidden Treasure !.......2000-11-11
Our learned reviewer Thomas Lay hits the beauty and importance of this album right on target. Dionne is lengendary for ballads but this album is somewhat quaint and different. It delivers you to a different state of listening pleasure that will invoke semblances of country pop, MOR and emotive sentimentals. This album challenges the listener to categorise its genre and will actually remain quite happy just being appreciated for its expansive celebrative musical arrangements and tune instead. Dionne introduced this album to the Brazilian audience way back in the early 70's and made quite an impact on Fantasia (not the Disney movie), their national variety show then. Not that they did not already know her but this album brought her closer to rank and qualifies her as one of the very few unique singers in English that was so dearly embraced by the population there. Any wonder why Dionne made the "Aquarela Do Brasil" album and currently resides in???-->make a wild guess. The musical style is unbelievably timeless and very very "happy" and you won't even suspect it was recorded during the 70s. Well, looks like it's not just Madonna who can kick retro. If you love Dionne like most diehard fans do, you will also be most delighted and amazed with the album cover pictorial of how our casual pony tailed girl turned Miranda in stark ocean blue floral on the back. Wow....si si (x7)...she looks verrr...y nice! Go for a real treasured find and buy the album..strictly no regrets...you can always say that with all Dionne's album..especially the hidden ones.
Dionne at her best!.......2000-07-16
Having enjoyed Dionne's music since I was a kid growing up in the 60's and 70's I have heard nearly all of her albums and this I feel is the best album of her long and distinguished career. This album shows a different side to Dionne. While she is perhaps best know as a ballad singer-this album only has 2 ballads out of ten songs and both of them are stark intimate ballads nothing like the big, bombastic overblown ballads she later did on Arista. Granted she did some great stuff on Arista but she did some really great stuff in the mid 70's on Warner Brothers that was sadly overlooked. This album is so refreshing-Dionne sounds like she had a great time making this record. The opening cut "Keepin' My Head Above Water" is one of the catchiest-one of the most irresistable songs I have ever heard Dionne sing. "A Long Way To Go" is a very inspiring song with great lyrics and Dionne really letting loose with a great chorus and a little gospel overtones. "Do I Have To Cry" is a pretty ballad and "Don't Ever Take Your Love Away" is downright hypnotic. This song was written by Issac Hayes who later wrote "Deja Vu" which was a hit for Dionne. "One Thing On My Mind" is another high energy song as well as the cut "Early Morning Strangers"-a song written by Barry Manilow(who recorded it 2 years earlier himself. It is a great lyric about the downfalls of "one night stands". "Livin'It Up Is Starting To Get Me Down" is another interesting song about living the "high life" and then comes the stunning ballad-"Since You Stayed Here". This is just Dionne and a piano and it is simply lovely. Then just when you think the energy level has dropped down-the album closes with the title cut "Do You Believe In Love At First Sight" -the most high energy song on the CD-this song is impossible to sit still to. Producers Steve Barri and Michael Omartian did a great job on this album-never have you heard Dionne sound so rejuvenated. She must have been in a particularly happy mood when she recorded this because her spirit shines through on the whole album. Ray Parker Jr(Ghostbusters) plays guitar on this album to give you some idea of the great musicians that play on it. Dionne made several other great albums on Warner Brothers including "Track Of The Cat" and "Then Came You"-hopefully these also will see the light of day on CD. But until then, buy this CD and hear Dionne is a bright uptempo setting and prepare to enjoy it. This CD is a gem from start to finish. I have hundreds of CD's and albums but this would have to be in my top ten favorites. I've had the album since it came out in 1977 and loved it from the first time I heard it. When I saw that it was available from Amazon on CD, I ordered it immediately. The sound quality is excellent-even outshining the LP.
at last available.......2000-05-05

Customer Reviews:
Love at first sight........2007-04-15
This song isn't one of the strongest songs from the Fever album.
I would have liked to see Burning up released instead of this song.
The best reason to buy this cd single is for the "Can't get blue monday out of my head" mix. It is fantastic.
Love at first listening.......2004-04-08
Though LAFS isn't the best track from Fever, it's still very good song. Can't get blue Monday.. is great, but I prefer the original version. But the reason for buying this single is Baby. A great track which should've been released on the album and as a single itself! Lyrics and melody are perfect, and like CGYOOMH's "la la la", Baby's "dah dah dah" is soooo catchy. LAFS's video is quite good, but 'cause my computer's quite slow, I haven't got so good experience from it. But you MUST buy this, because of Baby.
A WONDERFUL SONG.......2003-02-12
CANT GET BLUE MONDAY OUT OF MY HEAD IS A GREAT SONG, THE MOST GREAT THAT I EVER HAD LISTENED, MORE IF YOU HAVE SICK OF CANT GET YOU OTU OF MY HEAD, THIS IS LIKE A REFRESH OF THE SONG, THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE SONG HAPPEND WHEN I HAVE BEEN SAWING THE WORLD MUSIC AWARDS OF THE LAST YEAR SHE LOOKS AMAZING AND THE SONG WAS TOO, KYLIE IS THE BEST!
Nice single even if you already own the album.......2002-10-28
I bought this single for the bonus track "...blue monday out of my head" because I listened to it at my music store and I just couldn't leave without buying this irresistible version of Can't get you out of my head. New Order's original Blue Monday is already catchy, but Kylie's new spin of the song is even better. If you liked Kylie's #1 hit CGYOOMY, there's a good chance you'll love this version even more. The wonderful dance beat of the original isn't lost at all, it's even better, even more danceable.
If you don't own the album, "Love at first sight" is definitely worth buying this single. No mixes (there are mixes on the "part 2" single though). The other bonus track is a very normal Kylie-style pop song...if you are a die-hard fan you'll probably like it.
The video for LAFS is great, but not as good as the CGYOOMH video was. The cd-rom video version of LAFS is a radio version. It's not the same version as track 1 album version. We can tell it's been remixed in some way, but it's still very similar to the original.
I couldn't conclude without saying how much I like the cover picture... Original, appealing, I love it!
Not what i expected..........2002-09-17
I bought this CD in hopes that it would have the radio/video version of "Love at First Sight", but it doesn't. I already have "Fever," and it's the same one that's on the album. I don't really like that version, the new one just has more to it, and is a bit dancier. However, "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head" is pretty good...interesting, to say the least.
