Nowhere Without You

Felten’s "silky, steady voice evidences a creamy consistency…Comparisons to Harry Connick and even Frank Sinatra are not far-fetched."

washingtonpost.com
Felten’s "warm, uninflected vocals and trombone invite you to remember how things were, back before rock."

Album Description
"Nowhere Without You" is the exciting, swinging new release from jazz singer and trombonist Eric Felten. On a disc that is both exuberant and intimate, Eric performs classic standards from the Great American Songbook such as Cole Porter's "From This Moment On," Duke Ellington's "I Got It Bad" and Rodgers and Hart's "Dancing on the Ceiling." Eric also brings to life a few worthy gems that should be better known, including the Kurt Weill and Langston Hughes song "Moon-Faced, Starry-Eyed." This swinging record shows why Eric's voice has been compared to such great singers as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Harry Connick, Jr.

5 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise from out of nowhere.......2003-08-28

Eric Felten's newest CD, "Nowhere Without You," was a very pleasant surprise for me. I was unaware of his talents. A topnotch trombonist, he is also a fine singer, somewhat in the style of Fred Astaire on his famous jazz sessions several decades ago with Norman Granz on the Verve label. Felten's own tune, "I Don't Believe That We Have Met," fits in nicely with standards by Ellington, Rodgers and Hart, Porter, Weill, Warren, Bachrach and others. It's a nice CD for relaxing, and the musicians who accompany Felten are excellent.
