very disappointing.......2005-08-02

Promo says recorded by "Big Movie Orchestra" but it sounds more like a couple of synthesizers. The "strings" are OK but anything on brass or wind sounds AWFUL. Some tracks are not even on pitch. Seller would not refund, either - adding insult to injury! Now it's a handsome coaster for my desk!

A collection of early compositions of Becker and Fagan, Foward Into the Past allows the listener to travel back in time. A personal favorite on the album is an early version of "Caves of Altimira". A first class album from a band which always put class first.

The Mod Fun wereone of the few mod-pop bands in NY during the garage revival of the early to mid-80s. This CD is a collection of most of their recorded output including some UK only tracks, unreleased material and of course their LP tracks. Some of the tracks have been remixed. Tons of cool photos!

Great 60's Psyche Pop Collection.......2004-10-22

I have this cd & also saw Mod Fun play live at their 1st reunion show since '87 this September! WHAT A BAND! Both live and on this cd "collection," they take classic mod bands like the Action, Creation, Who and American Garage Punk and roll-it all into one fuzzed-up ball of high energy guitars, harmony vocals and crashing drums. I can't really hear too much of a "Jam" influence in the 20 tracks on this cd (not that a Jam influence is really a bad thing - Paul Weller is one of the most influential and gifted musicians of all time, let alone "mod times"!) The Mod Fun covers of the Zombies, Kinks and Chris Squire's "psychedelic" band The Syn will have you thinking "sixties revival" at it's best! Along with The Vipers, The Fuzztones, The Fleshtones and Cheepskates, Mod Fun are well worth picking up on CD to fill out your "60's in the 80's Garage Band" collection!

I have to say I'm in agreement with the reviews down below. I'd seen Mod Fun and they were okay, but way too Jam-derivative. I saw Chris Collins' other band, The Punch Line, twice and they truly were something special. For a local band, they had star quality written all over them. How typical is it that a really awesome band didn't make it? If they're back, DON'T MISS THEM! Whatever they do--live or on record, I'm there. This CD is a reminder of that time.

If you dont buy this CD you are a very stupid person. This is my dad and his band and they are the best band in the world!!!!! As my step sister said, his other band the punchline is just as good, maybe better so check them out too!!!

Chris Collins of the Mod Fun is my step father. I'm not giving this five stars jsut because of that. The band is truly awesome. We've got a picture hanging on the wall of Chris behind his drums banging away...they guys are all really awesome...if you liked these guys check out my step dads other band "the punchline" they're pretty wicked too...

Worth finding.......2002-06-06

Not that I'd ever sell my CD, but if you can find someone willing to part with theirs, snap it up. And crank it up.

Yeah, this trio never managed to *quite* capture the magic of their live shows on vinyl; I think there was never quite enough studio time and money to get everything mixed just perfectly, but what they did release (and generously compiled on this 74-minute CD) still impresses mightily, a decade and a half later.

Their energetic, "Swingin' 60s Punk" sounds always kept you on your toes, figuratively and literally. There were tuneful, straight-ahead rockers like the Buzzcocksesque "I fell" and "I am with you"; slightly goofy, off-kilter psychodelia in "Eyes Getting Louder;" and a nice CD-closing cover of the Kinks' "I need you."

I have been to two concerts with this amazing band and what they lack in as far as vocal ability they make up with their sheer energy. The same is true for their recorded music. which has nice sounds, good lyrics and weak vocals. Germananic is a great song that was an old song that they updated with the fall of the wall and the neighbors of Germany getting antsy what would happen with a reunited Germany. There are so many strong tracks on this album, machineries of joy, gladiators, germaniac and many others. They might not sound like great vocalists but they make this up with their sheer will and love for making music.

Buy this CD!.......2000-06-13

This is the quintessential Die Krupps! No other CD defines the group as well as this one does. I will admit that their music loses something in the translation to English (it soars in German), but even if you don't understand German, the sound speaks for itself. If you could only have one Die Krupps CD - this should be the one. Germaniac is especially powerful.
