Norah Jones blew everybody away with her jazzy, country-tinged, Grammy-winning debut CD, Come Away with Me. On this recording, Jones doesn't mess with her trademark formula. Under Arif Mardin's cozy coproduction, Jones is supported by her writing partners, her Handsome Band, and some special guests (country legend Dolly Parton, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of the Band, and jazz drummer Brian Blade, to name a few). Jones's Texas-twanged vocals and her sparse acoustic and electric Wurlitzer piano lines enliven the CD's 13 tracks, from the light and lively single "Sunrise" to Tom Waits's "The Long Way Home" and the bouncy duet with Parton, "Creepin' In." Jones's soul-baring piano/vocal rendition of Duke Ellington's "Melancholia," retitled "Don't Miss You at All," proves she's a true Blue Note artist with unlimited potential. --Eugene Holley Jr.

Good, but not the best.......2007-06-17
"Feels Like Home" is a welcome addition to any fans' collection. I gave it four stars simply because I did not think it was as good as her first or third CD. If you like Norah's other work you will like this CD, but if you don't have extra money or you would like to introduce yourself to Norah Jones purchase "Come Away With Me" or "Not Too Late" instead.
a snoozer.......2007-06-09
Wonderful intimate voice, great musical heritage, extremely monotonous songs....great if your trying to lower your bloodpressure or achieve REM state. This ain't jazz it's elevator music.
LOVE IT.......2007-04-13
I love the sound of her voice, there is no other like it.
Feels Like Home.......2007-03-23
Another Norah Jones classic in its sound and unusual genre. Easy to listen to - fun to sing with!
Feels Like Home.......2007-03-16
I love the music of Norah Jones and I love this CD. She is so smooth.

Customer Reviews:
She has a home in my heart........2006-08-10
I was a hardcore 1970's Linda Ronstadt fan, right up to the "What's New" album. I was not mature enough in my 20's to understand her change in music, but at 47 I have seen the light. As I work my way back (buying CDs) from "Hummin' to Myself" I can't believe the music that I have been missing out on. If you were and still are a Linda Ronstadt fan, do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You will not be disappointed. This is some of her best work. As a fan, I am back for life. Thank you Linda.
Softspoken and relaxable Ronstad magic.......2006-01-04
Yeees. Track 5 The Blue Train has the magic of Ronstad softspoken and halfway wispering voice which realy tickle youre soul. Emmylou Harris on the background vocals, fills out the magic with here voice too. There is a certain dreamy feel over this song. Pure Ronstad magic. The other tracks are filled with more ups and downs. Track 2 Walk on the more fast moving song with Allison Krauss on the fiddle is anyway a good listen to . But it is the moody feel of Ronstad voice that runs
trough the whole CD that gives the magic a certain touch, that lifts up more anonymous songwriting. On the weaker side we have the cover of the Neil Young masterpeace After the Gold rush which break the moody feeling. It doesn`t fit
here voice in a way. The Randy Newmann song Feels like Home Track 6 has much of the same problems. But hey, soon we are back into gear with Track 7 Teardrops will fall, which has the rhythm and feel of a good hit song. But how can you go wrong when you get help from Allison Krauss and Emmylou Harris ? If the whole CD was up to Track 5 The Blue Train standard it would have been a solid 5 star.
But anyway Linda Ronstad as an artist put some "musical angeldust" in your ears.
Into everything.......2005-02-06
I appreciate things that are familiar, and music is an area of art that allows people to think small and never try to appreciate anything as large as the Wagner Ring cycle of (German) operas. These songs are all in English, but the title song, "Feels Like Home" by Randy Newman comes from his version of "Faust," a very German theme. Linda played Margaret (the poorest, nicest and most beautiful girl in South Bend) in the CD version released in 1995, but Bonnie Raitt sang the best song in the show on that CD, and this version by Linda with Emmylou Harris singing some harmony, with the title of the song on the cover, does everything these musicians could do to steal this song. This version might be more popular than the Randy Newman collection because the rest of the songs live up to the title so well.
"The Waiting" by Tom Petty is a great way to start anything. When I say the music is familiar, I truly mean: where have you been if you have not heard this one? The final song, "Lover's Return" by A. P. Carter from 1935 has Alison Krauss on fiddle, and that should seem familiar from the best movie soundtracks lately, as well as from "Walk On" (the second song on this CD).
"After the Gold Rush" (1970) by Neil Young has an exciting piano part, updated with string synthesizers, glass armonica, and an orchestra for this recording, which features trio vocals: Valerie Carter, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt. I think I previously heard a jug band version of "Morning Blues." "The Blue Train" has the expected theme: "I'm taking it one way to nowhere Afraid you might be there . . ."
I've had the album so long, all the songs seem familiar now, and that was what they were aiming for when they released it. This is music you can live with as well as through.
One of Linda's best albums from the 90s.......2004-04-26
There is a bit of a backstory with this album. Many of the tracks were recorded in 1994, intended for the sequel to the popular collaboration album with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton from 1987 called TRIO. There were label issues and behind the scenes shuffles, and ultimately TRIO II did not get a release until early 1999. However, many of the tracks appear on this album, with slightly different arrangements. Those songs that appear on both include "High Sierra", "Lover's Return", "Feels Like Home", "After The Goldrush" and "The Blue Train". Some might say that's a bad thing, but they are all great songs, and it's nice to hear them as a Trio on one hand, then to just hear Linda's versions. FEELS LIKE HOME is a nice, if overlooked, album. It opens with an inspired cover of Tom Petty's "The Waiting", which is an instant highlight. The songs that ended up on TRIO II that are also on this disc, are highlights. The whole album is pretty relevent, and she still sounds pretty good.
Great Album.......2004-02-14
In my opinion, this is the best of Linda's efforts over the last decade or so. Actually, if one listens closely, this CD marks the beginning of the decline in Linda's vocal ability. Don't get me wrong, at her worst, Linda can still sing circles around any of the so-called "Divas" of today. Still, it is a little depressing to hear this once-strong and soaring instrument, begin to decline in quality--which are resulting from her health condition, I can only surmise. Every album Linda has done since FLH (there have only been a handful) sound as though Linda is simply tired and disinterested. Her voice still sounds good, but Linda just no longer has the ability to make it soar like she used to.
I understand that she is supposed to release a new jazz project some time this year, which I eagerly await.

I am addicted.......2007-07-06
For 3 months, my Norah Jones CDs have taken over my car stereo. This woman is very talented!
The voice of a Angel..........2007-07-05
You can tell I am smitten by her singing. I absolutely loved "Come away with me". Can't remember how many times I have heard that album. This CD to wasnt quite at that level, but still incredible. The Song 'sunrise' is phenomenal. Buy this pack, for the DVD is a nice bonus! Highly recommended CD.
At list price, overpriced. At the club price, a good value........2006-03-21
At the time of this writing, there is an option to buy this Deluxe Edition at the "club price" of $7.99. I happen to own the club edition, and I never bought the original CD, so I didn't end up buying most of the music twice.
What you get over the non-Deluxe original release is three extra songs and a bonus DVD. The DVD is pleasant, with four performances from a Madrid concert and two music videos. Also included is a 17-minute Norah Jones interview. All of this is non-essential, in my opinion, although Norah's live version of the Gram Parsons song She is a great addition to her expanding repertoire of country-tinged material.
On the audio CD, two of the three bonus cuts also have a country flavor. Moon Song is superior to those two. It is a sweet little tune that should have been on the original release, as a bookend to Sunrise. Why wasn't it?
Oddly, the sound quality of the bonus cuts is more brilliant, dynamic, and immediate than the cuts from the orignal CD release. Puzzling. You may not notice, but careful listening will reveal that this is true.
Norah's debut was not exactly jazz. But it was more jazz-influenced than Feels Like Home, which tilts toward the folk and country side of the musical spectrum. I cannot give this album five stars for that reason. Norah's talents are greater in the jazz-influenced arena, even though she has an obvious affection for other musical styles as well. I think she would do well to choose more cover songs, rather than originals written by herself and bandmates. They are good songwriters, but not great songwriters. Chances are you'll find yourself getting bored of these tunes quicker than the songs on Come Away With Me.
At the right price, the Deluxe version of the album is the obvious choice. Three extra songs and six videos cannot justify the list price, though.
It is not Jazz.......2005-12-25
It is a nice peice of work, but it is more country music than jazz. However, I liked the DVD very much. I removed two stars because I expected to listen to jazz, not country.
Norah's better than ever in "Feels Like Home"!.......2005-09-16
I LOVED "Come away with me" and was nervous about Norah's sophomore album. Would it be as good? Turns out I liked it even better than the first. Tunes are catchy and slightly more upbeat than the first album. Added bonus tracks are good too. I love Moon Song and Sleepless nights. Would HIGHLY recommend it!

un très beau timbre de voix au service de deux superbes chansons extraites de l'album "l'aigle noir" écrit par Barbara, l'aigle, of course et drouot. Merci
A wonderful fresh voice to the cabaret scene!.......2001-06-03
When I saw the name "Karen Akers," I remembered her from Grand Hotel about 10 years ago, so I picked up the CD, it did NOT disappoint! She sounds like a cross between Emily Skinner, Ute Lemper, and Audra McDonald. My only qualm was "The Rose," but it was merely because I didn't like the song to begin with, her vocals however brought a lot to it! My favorites are "Stars and the Moon," and "Paris in the Rain." From heart-warming to heart-wrenching, Akers brings something fresh and beautiful and passionate to all her songs. I reccomend this gem to anyone and everyone, you'll be hooked!

Customer Reviews:
Very Good........2004-04-13
Norah does nice work again. What a pleasure it is to hear voices like hers. My appreciation for this style of music has grown. Now with artists like Norah and young Michael Bublé leading the way we're in for a pleasant musical journey.
I love her.......2004-03-18
I love Norah Jones and any music she's ever done. To all of you one star people, you are just proof that Norah does her own thing and doesn't care if you can dance to it, or if her songs reek with sex, guns and some hypocritical message of empowerment (see Christian Aguflake) or if you don't think she's "growing" enough, or whatever other lame excuse there is. If you don't like it, fine, its not for you, but don't go making some bs justifications for hating it. This cd isn't for everybody, its for introspective people who like to chill out and think. Norah's got a brain in her head and the confidence to make her own music without allowing the masses to influence her...keep up the good work Norah, very inspiring, and enchanting...among many other wonderful adjectives.
Sophomore slump.......2004-03-03
I'm a jazz fan. Her first album, "Come Away With Me" blurred the lines between jazz and pop. I bought the second album in eager anticipation of the same approach. At first I was a bit disappointed that she chose to move so far away from what made her a tremendous hit. But I kept listening. After a month I have discovered some jewels on "Feels Like Home." However, the overall effort doesn't live up to the first album, especially the sustained level of excellence of the first.
This is a common problem with sophomore efforts -- while the first album was written and refined over years, the second one is often written in a year or two. I put the blame sqaurely on the record companies, pushing the artist to cash in on the success of the first one. The real test of the artist is how he or she comes back with #3.
I'll keep listening to this CD. But I will try to burn a CD with all of her first album and my four favorites from this say (I say "try" because the CD says "Copy Protected." Like you guys didn't learn that a solid album like her first sells a billion copies regarless of copy protection!)
Good music - poor media choice by EMI.......2004-03-01
Another enjoyable music experience from Norah Jones.
Unfortunately EMI has choosen to release this media using "Copy Control" technology. While I don't condon music piracy, I don't agree with EMI on using "Copy Control" technology on this disc. From their back cover information, "On some equipment, for example car CD players playback problems may be encountered." They have more details at www.emimusic.info Buyer beware!
Good Marketing Job.......2004-02-28
Good marketing, Good product positioning, Good product launch, ... BAD CD. It doesn't even deserve to be on the top 100, not to mentioned being the best selling album!!!
I bought both her CD's just to find out what people were talking about, and after listening to it three times, I have retired it to my coaster section. She has a good voice, but every song on both CD's sounded too much alike, making it a touture to listen to both CD at the same time. Before you go out and buy this, borrow it from a friend who has it, and if you can listen to it more than twice and like it, than buy it, otherwise, save your money, or buy any of Diana Krall's CD instead.
