Something to Remember You By
Editorial Reviews
Fred Allen, Managing Editor, American Heritage Magazine (personal communication)
"What fantastic singing and playing, stylish, cool, right on. Wow!"
David Griffiths, South Wales (U.K.) Evening Post, January 21, 2002
"...Hanna Richardson proves she can match and in some cases beat some of the current...major jazz singers..."
Album Description
Newcomer vocalist Hanna Richardson teams up with veteran bassist Phil Flanigan and his sextet made up of the top swing players currently on the scene to pay tribute to the great singer Maxine Sullivan. Richardson's vocal style resembles Sullivan's in its straightforward, melodic, and always swinging approach. Flanigan makes particular use of Richardson's natural rhythmic feel as he leads a first-rate ensemble on an entertaining variety of tunes, most of which were associated with Sullivan.

THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2002-04-16
I have about 3000 CDs of which about 525 are vocals, and I have to tell you that Hanna Richardson's voice is right up there with the likes of Ella and the rest. She has a very lyrical, clear, warm and musically attractive voice............and one of the best features here is that you can understand EVERY words she sings. Her Husband, Phil, and his Sextet really does an excellent job in backing and bring out Hanna's talents. They alone would be enough to buy this album!! This is a must have CD and I highly recommend it to you!!!!!!!

Customer Reviews:
BEST COUNTRY ARTIST.......2002-10-29
It's a nice summer night in 1962. We are at a bandstand in a large park. The band is set to play. The singer, wearing a fancy country outfit, does a last minute mike check. On the stage are female backup singers, piano, bass, drums, steel and electric guitar players. The band starts to play. I see that their band sounds like the one Ricky Nelson has; however, the singer has a strong country voice, like Jim Reves. It sound very loud and clear thru the PA sound system-----SO, this is what you will hear on this OUTSTANDING DISC. You are not listening to a record; you are THERE! AT THE CONCERT. More than half the songs are excellent, with good melody lines. The band lays down a nice rock n' roll beat. The piano player gets into a nice Jerry Lee style on many cuts. The steel man does his thing. The band is outstanding. And---Robert must be a very nice guy to let us download his entire CD. IMPORTANT: you need LIQUID AUDIO PLAYER to decode the files. I wish I knew the address to write to MR. Allen.
he is still my mentore.......2001-12-18

A Marvelous Trip.......2005-04-28
What a wonderful musical journey to the days when these songs were what everyone was singing. Not only are the selections excellent, but the voices of this husband-wife team are superb. Sarah's crystal clean tones stir the heart and Scott's rich baritone is warming. But, these are songs for the ages, all ages, so pick up this album and enjoy.

FANTASTIC.......2006-05-11
This album has all the great love songs you remember. They retain the integrity of the original song while adding their own personality into the music. They obviously love this genre of music because their style and beauty spills through onto the songs. I love it!

Customer Reviews:
One More Bud, Please........2001-08-11
Bud has an incomparable sound: amber warm, a masterful vibrato, with a bit of sand from the breezy shore to give it the proper grit. His phrases have a swinging, exuberant lilt - a leftover from the dance years of early jazz. Bud's sound actually seemed to improve with age. It starts to get fuller by the '50s and never looks back. Sadly, "Something to Remember You By" is one of the few recordings currently available from this later period. Bud is ably accompanied by Dave Frishberg - here heard sans vocals and lyric wit. One only wishes their were more tunes and more blowing from Bud. If you get hold of any his cd's from the 50's or 60's hold them close.
