Excellent for country song lovers.......2007-07-05

Songs are of high standard. However, the quality of the CD is substandard to the ears of an audiophile fan. Background of the recordings has a bit of noise, not absolutely clear. Overall, a good CD for a sunny day.

Fab Folk Trio's Best.......2007-06-20

You know you're gettin' real old when you have a conversation with 20-something (or even 30-something) friend and you mention Peter, Paul & Mary and the person just gives you a blank stare. I got to thinking about the Fab Folk Trio because the political climate is...well, let's just say--unfortunate (with eerily similiar 1960's overtones.) I also got to thinking about Peter Yarrow's song "The Great Mandala" (on this CD.) Trouble was, for some reason I thought Richie Havens wrote it & that P, P & M were chorus backup--so I kept looking for the original and for lyrics with all the wrong information (yes, sometimes I am prone to air-headedness.) Once again, Amazon comes to the rescue in the end. In fact, I'm beginning to feel like a walking billboard for Amazon--hint, hint--any comps gladly accepted.

Anyway, I held back a star just because there were a couple of songs omitted, such as the trios' haunting rendition of "Polly Vaughn" that I would really have like to have seen included. Oh well, I've been told 'you can't have everything." How 'bout 4 and 1/2 stars?

Hearing "The Great Mandala" again made the search well worth while. It is one of Peter, Paul & Mary's most dramatic & uncompromising hits.

One of the best Folk groups in America.........2007-05-17

This is one of the best folk groups in our country. The best in the world although, goes to an Australian group that did everything better than Peter, Paul, and Mary. The Seekers.

I remember listening to PP&M in 74-75. The songs had a magic quality to them, and they are still good. Time hasn't dimmed their quality much.

This is by far The Very Best of Peter, Paul, and Mary. I enjoyed every cut, and often found myself singing along. ( in the privacy of my car ) I would recommend this album to any baby boomer and to their children and grand children

Es uno de los conjuntos más clásicos y eternos al mismo tiempo. Lo mismo interpretan la música popular, vaquera, que hacen interpretaciones modernas de Bach. Es lástima que no se promocione ahora su música.

A great compilation.......2004-12-29

This is a great collection. The sound quality is wonderful (better than their studio CDs) and as Amazon points out you get tracks like A 'Soalin' and Cruel War that are not on the domestic greatest hits. This hard to find import CD is definitely worth the search.

A must for PPM fans.......2003-03-22

Even though many of the songs may be on other recordings there is a unique blending of selections and found that this was a got to have - even though I have almost all of their records and duplicated them all on CD.

The Best.......2002-08-09

This is originally a 1990 Japan WEA compilation of Peter, Paul and Mary's best songs which was later reissued by Australia WEA with different cover photo. It is a custom that the best of album issued in the USA has less songs than those issue in other countries, it seems that the USA record companies are less generous (the original best of album, "Ten years together" has 13 songs only). Even though Rhino/WEA has issued "The very best of Peter, Paul and Mary", the latest greatest hits CD in 2005 which contains 25 songs, this one is still preferable to the Rhino latest issue because it includes "Settle down", "San Francisco Bay blues", "Hush-a-bye", "A Soalin'" , "All my trials" and "Gone the Rainbow". If you are perfectionist , with this best of CD, you still need to have their "In the wind", "A song will rise", the 1966's "The Peter, Paul and Mary Album" and the 1969's "Peter, Paul and Mommy" to build up a perfect collection of Peter, Paul and Mary.
