Album Description
A children's album, influenced by James Taylor, Bob Dorough (Schoolhouse Rock) and Randy Newman, Great Big Sun is full of songs that are by turn humorous, educational and poignant yet never lose the wide-eyed naiveté of childhood.·
Great Big Sun is directly responsible for some of the fondest memories I will have of our twin daughters infancy. In fact, I'm so fond of [Great Big Sun] that I've played it for my own enjoyment when the girls were nowhere near. - Lou Diamond Phillips, Film Actor

Great CD!! Parents & kids can enjoy!!!.......2007-01-10
My son heard one of Justin's songs on a kids network. I searched for the CD and I'm so glad I tracked it down. ALL of the songs on this CD are catchy and singable - without driving parents crazy if they have to listen to it over and over.
Not just for kids.......2006-06-06
This quirky and smart CD is one that my kids love and is never tiresome to me. I often listen to this CD even when my kids are not around. It is just that good. His puts on a great live show.
We LOVE Justin Roberts.......2005-08-06
My daughter, age 2.5 sings every song on this CD. Little Raindrop being our favorite...along with Everything else starts with E. .... no wait we love the WHOLE thing!! You will too!
Great CD you and your family will enjoy.......2005-07-13
I have been working backwards through the JR catalog and this second title I own by this artist. Great Big Sun is catchy, humorous, intelligent, soulful (yes I said soulful describing a children's album) and positive. The title track (Great Big Sun) sets a high bar and the tone followed by refreshingly creative new spins on counting ('If you got 1'), the alphabet ('Everything else starts with e' and 'a,b,c,d,e'), and childhood ('Apple tree'). The themes are relevant to life, no matter what age. The only negatives compared to 'Way Out' are the run time is a little short at 31:56 and 'Do You Wanna Go' does not fit in with the other songs in speed or tempo. However, this is music you and your family will enjoy..."Aint gonna let no wolf run my life"...
first songs my kids clapped for.......2005-01-11
My boys get so excited when we play this CD. Fortunately, it is very easy for adults to listen to as well. There are a couple tracks on this CD - everytime we here them my 18 month old applauds.

pre-school teacher in Paris Loves Big Fun by Greg & Steve.......2001-08-09
I use Greg & Steve's "Big Fun" CD every morning in my pre-school class . Children in our center ages 2 - 5 absolutely Love interacting with the songs (especially the Chicken Dance !) I Highly recommend Greg & Steve's Big Fun CD for all ages. You will enjoy watching the children laughing, learning, and having "Big Fun" !
Big Fun.......2001-06-21
My 18-month-old son's face lights up with delight whenever I play the CD for him. He knows the moves/dances to alot of the songs. A real joy!
My Kids Favorite.......2000-03-17
This is by far the favorite of my kids. Primarily since it instructs them to do different things. They love doing the silly dances and moves. This CD is primarily for listening and dancing to at home, since you couldn't do as instructed strapped into a car.
Preschoolers love it........1999-12-04
All the age groups (2-5 yrs.) at the preschool I work at love this cd. My class especially loves the song "Silly Willies." I love it because all the children in my class will get involved in dancing, moving, and singing. I also like the chicken dance mix of songs. It is "Big Fun."
Fantastic for getting kids to move.......1999-10-21
I teach a preschool exercise class - and this is the best CD I have found that incorporates movements and music at a simple level for the kids. The kids especially love the chicken dance! I will probably order every other CD these artists make - it's that great!

didn't work for rehearsals.......2007-03-22
I used this CD to help me rehearse for the BIG production I was in, but it didn't match the libretto at all. I think there was one song on there that I could use.
Big for folks doing the Musical.......2006-03-20
If you're getting this CD to help prepare for your school or community group doing the musical, there are a lot of changes from the CD to the book. Aside from finding the book in a new key and some chunks added/deleted, Here We Go Again and When You're Big aren't included anymore.
Overall, the music's a little trite, but there are some nice moments -- mostly the stuff sung by the female leads.
It's Awesome, It's Amazing, It's BIG!!!!.......2006-01-22
My high school did "Big" my sophomore year, and oh my god, it was such a fun musical to do. I kind of forgot about it until my senior year, when I suddenly craved some of that music again. So I purchased this CD and I've been loving it since. They got rid of a couple of the songs and replaced them with others as the show progressed on Broadway, so I was suprised to hear new material (to me anyways), and for the most part, I actually enjoyed these original songs over their replacements that my production contained. This cast is phenomenal and the guy who plays Josh Baskin sounds so much like Tom Hanks at points, its crazy. It's a simple, yet a bit fantastic musical about growing up, and it's funny and romantic, and a lot of fun. I love all the songs, and it's a shame it didn't do too well on B-way. At least this recording will keep the music alive.
"This Isn't Me" is one of my favorite tracks, as it's a lot of fun and has a great beat, but suprisingly it was replaced with "Good Morning to Mom", which was only so-so. "I Want To Go Home" is a great ballad that Josh sings, and its simple, a bit funny, and the ending is the best, as its cute and sad. Another song they got rid of, "Here We Go Again", is a song Susan sings, and again, I like it alot. It has a quirky melody that I like. "Stars, Stars, Stars" is another great song, and is quite cute. One of the more popular songs. "Cross The Line" is the finale to Act I and is also very excellent and up beat, and makes you want to dance. "Stop, Time" is my favorite song on the album by far. Sung by Josh's mom, it is one of the more poignant moments of the show. Heartfelt, sad, and truly beautiful, it defiantely makes you appreciate your mom. Barbara Walsh sounds superb on this: she has a great voice. I love this one. "Dancing all the Time" is another good Susan song, and it leads into "I Want To Know" by Young Josh, which is another good ballad. "Coffee, Black" is another showstopper, fun ensemble song, and again, very comedic. "One Special Man" is Susan's ballad to Josh, and it is very beatiful. My only regret is that its only 2:21 so its a short one, and I just want her to start belting at the end, but no, its a quiet ending. Still, I love this one too. The finale is great too, and features an amazing duet between Josh and Susan. I love the harmonies they do.
All in all, this is a great album. Sample the songs and give it a try. This is a must have!!
a lost gem.......2004-10-14
i saw this musical at the local high school in 2001 and was plesently suprised i of course saw the movie and the only thing i knew about this musical was it didnt stay long on broadway, so when i saw it was i shocked this is a delight cross the line still resenates in my head 5 years later.
Ungodly awful.......2004-06-19
BEWARE. This musical is perhaps one of the five worst pieces of music I have ever experienced. I began to wonder if the composer was attempting to make the world's worst musical. Listen for yourself and enjoy the disjunct vocal lines, the desperate attempt at "fun music", and - worst of all - how the highlight of the entire show both dramatically and musically is the insipidly awful "Heart and Soul". Stick to the movie because this baby is horrendous.

Sara Hickman's spring-loaded Toddler plays like a 2-year-old's trip to the zoo. What's around the bend is anybody's guess, but because each creature is as kooky or adorable or exotic as the one that came before it, you can hardly wait to get there. Think of it as a 31-track grab-bag: "I Got You Babe," its lyrics modified from "I got you to wear my ring" to "I got you to push me on the swing," butts up against "Storytime with Tish Hinojosa," a spoken-word saga of feline demise and rat liberation; the 1930s safety song "Remember Your Name & Address" swings out soberly on the heels of "Mr. Kawasaki (the Wok Song)," a gastronomic gross-out detailing a stir-fry gone wrong; and a hip-hop take on "This Little Light of Mine" thumps along in the hands of guest vocalist MC Overlord before this CD shoves off to Hawaii for "Pupu Hinuhinu." Interspersed are more spoken-word tracks (someone called Mr. Peppermint takes a turn, as do Sara and other friends), old standbys like "Freres Jacques" and "Duke of York," and, with "Waar Is Mijn Dulfje (Where is My Baby Bird)" and the Hebrew "Hiney Rakavet," there are some stabs at toddler world music. Where most CDs that string together snatches of this and that collapse into catchalls--nothing special--Toddler stands steady on its feet, buoyed by Hickman's wit, spunk, and way with a song. Her's is a voice as warm and inviting as a best-loved blanket, calling to mind Karen Carpenter in calmer moments, and what she chooses to wrap it around will leave moms, dads, and tots hoping she takes this boringly titled series, which started with Newborn, all the way past Tween and College Kid to Old Geezer. --Tammy La Gorce

something to sing about.......2007-07-15
OUR CHILD LOVES IT WHEN HER FATHER AND I SING SONGS TO HER. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT WE COULD ONLY THINK OF A FEW SONGS FROM OUR CHILDHOOD AND EVEN THEN THE VERSES WERE A LITTLE HAZY. THIS CD IS WONDERFUL BECAUSE IT HAS SOME OF THE CLASSICS I REMEMBER AND A LOT OF ONES I'D NEVER HEARD BEFORE. THE LYRICS ARE EASY AND THE SONGS THEMSELVES AREN'T THAT LONG. SO, IN ONE CAR RIDE (AND A FEW RETAKES LATER) YOU TOO CAN BE AN OLD PRO.
LOVE IT!
I love the variety.......2007-07-07
I bought Sara Hickman's toddler album after listening to her Newborn album. I'm an even bigger fan of the Toddler album. The songs are all upbeat, but from different musical genres. I walk around all day singing the songs we hear on the way in to work.
Love this CD........2007-01-09
This is a sweet and well balanced CD. My husband and I fell in love with it right away, and my daughter started to like it after it's played a few times. She can now sing a few songs from it. It's so funny to hear her sing the weenie man. :) Now it's one of our favorite CDs.
The Perfect Kid CD.......2006-11-02
The warning i'm going to give is also the best reason to buy it! If you play this in your car for your 3 year old, you will never hear any other music besides this CD EVER again! Keep them happy! Buy it now! of course, there are one or two throw away tracks, but after the 20-something song, no one notices!
we all love it!.......2005-12-02
We weren't surprised that we love it, as Sara does not put out bad albums. This cd lives in the minivan to keep my 18 month old twins and my 15-18 year old teens happy. The twins clap and sing and wave their arms to the music. Everyone sings and has their favorite songs, especially Weenie Man. Even on long trips, nobody gets tired of it. Even my teens' friends sing along with gusto. An amazing album from an amazing woman.

Not bad.......2007-01-18
The kids (age 3 and 7) like the CD. The adults like the dialog better than the songs. We bought this mainly because the children saw "Modern Major General" on one of the videos and thought it was hilarious. We still don't understand why they didn't put the "Pirates who don't do anything" song on this CD.

What's the measure of a good children's record? Probably the sing-along factor and educational levels, plus how much it doesn't grate on parental nerves with continued play. Within those criteria, Tom Chapin's Great Big Fun for the Very Little Ones falls somewhere between a good and great record. There are more truly memorable sing-alongs than most young kids' records can muster, including "Uh Oh, Accident," "Zag Zig," and "Jumpalong Jake." Equally enjoyable tunes that educate without talking down to the audience are multiple: "I Would If I Could" proves to be a sound way to reenforce "don't" messages about jumping on the bed, knocking people down, painting on the walls, and other normal miscreant behavior. "You'll Be Sorry" is a warning song to dogs that also works for kids, and "State Laughs" teaches geography while using lots of playful rhymes. Chapin's performances, framed by simple instrumentation that highlights his messages and lyrics, are rich and engaging. And with songs like "Cameling," "Sailing to the Sea," and the classic "Big Rock Candy Mountain" to spur young imaginations, Great Big Fun scores big time. --Martin Keller
Customer Reviews:
Tom Chapin is Great Big Fun.......2007-01-12
I LOVE this album!! My own children grew up on Tom Chapin's music. My son (who is 19 now) attributes his own interest and talent in music to Tom Chapin's "musicality." Tom's music is engaging and fun and poignant. My husband and I always enjoyed listening to the songs when my kids were young. We also really enjoyed going to Tom's live concerts when we lived in Illinois.
Every time I have to get friends a baby gift of some kind, I buy a Tom Chapin CD for them, and I feel confident that I have given them something really valuable!
Gram loves Tom Chapin music!.......2007-01-09
I raised four daughters on Tom Chapin music! Although I've found many other options for children's music, nothing compares to Tom Chapin's. In this CD, you can feel that the music has the heart and mind of a pre-schooler-Catchy, involving music that little ones [and OLD ones] can easily and gleefully learn. I can't run bath water without the "bubbling, bubbling" music coming into my head! This CD will be of more value to your young child or grandchild than a roomful of toys.
Iowa Dad.......2004-05-14
My family and I are extremely pleased with this CD, and we highly recommend it as being far from a "horrible CD" as one reviewer here states.
One song mentions things like an aunt who "spanked his bottom" when a boy misbehaved, but the song does not say that is what should have been done--a far cry from advocating violence toward children. Regarding the reference to "stupid," there is a lyric where Chapin says he swung his hammer and hit his thumb and says, "Uh oh, acci-dumb," and there is nothing that encourages anyone to call anyone stupid or dumb.
If you've seen Tom Chapin in concert (as we have), there is no mistaking that this gentle man cares deeply about kids and others, and his lyrics and songs are positive, positively silly, fun, or thoughtful, and they are never mean or hurtful.
Some songs on the album are geared more toward the younger kids (preschoolers or early school years), but the songs are simple without being simplistic, and Chapin's wordplay is clever and fun. I would gladly listen to the original lyrics and melodies of Chapin's work 1000 times over rather than listen to a collection of songs by a purple dinosaur twice--and so would my kids, who were 5 and 2 and 1/2 when began listening to Tom Chapin a few years ago.
Personally, we prefer the birthday song on this CD over the traditional "Happy Birthday," and we've taken to singing it on our birthdays since it is definitely a song of love.
The song "Bedtime Round" is a treat for any parent who has put up with the bedtime pleas for one more story, one more hug or kiss, and one more drink of water when it's long after the time for kids to be asleep, as it captures the child's persistence and the parent's patience in handling the requests.
Finally, the grownups here dearly love "Together Tomorrow," a heart-tugging song if you've ever had to part with people you love and care about.
We've bought other Chapin CDs and given several as gifts, but this one is clearly our family favorite (though we've not heard them all yet!).
focuses on lives of pre-school aged children.......2002-09-08
We first borrowed this from the library and our 1.5 and 4.5 year old loved it, and surprisingly both my husband and I enjoyed it as well. We have listened to Raffi over and over and over and to Disney soundtrack tunes for over 4 years now and we were in need of something fresh. (Our 4.5 year-old was starting to groan when I put Raffi on as he has all the songs memorized.) We are happy to have found Tom Chapin's music and we bought this CD. It has rescued us from boredom on long car trips, the humor and catchy tunes have us singing along. I don't find any of Chapin's music annoying or grating on the nerves (as some other recordings for children are). This is a great one to play when boredom sits in, after playing other music for a while we put in Tom Chapin and this CD when we need a burst of energy. We refuse to install a TV in our car despite regularly traveling 500 miles in one day for our frequent car travel so we rely on music, talking, and reading for entertainment in the car.
Some of Chapin's other CDs focus on issues relating to school and social issues that go on in school. This is a collection of some pre-published and new material that is all geared toward the audience of kids not yet in school. I suggest this for kids starting in the toddler years. Of course even kids in school will like this music but what makes it unique is that it is all suitable stuff for toddlers and up.
We liked this CD so much we have since purchased other Tom Chapin recordings. What I have found is that his CDs repeat some tunes, each CD is not a completely new work. I guess this is titled for "very little ones" because there are no songs about going to school as there are on other CDs. This CD has 16 songs which is considerably longer than some of his other works so this is a bargain.
In "uh oh, accident" the child has accidents in which he labels them in various rhyming ways, i.e. hit thumb with hammer, calls himself "accidumb" that is the worst thing in that song, other descriptions are "it went squish..uh oh accidish". In "I would if I could" which is a about a toddler or child pushing his limits with swiping, painting the wall, jumping on bed, etc. In this story there is never a mention of spanking or hitting. There are joking references of the child singing and labeling his behavior, such as saying his "parents flip when he strips in the park..which I've done"; he mentions they scowl and even yell when he tells his mothers age. ... Also in case you are wondering "You'll be sorry" is about a dog not a child and it is about silly things like if the dog chases the skunk he'll be sorry. Jumpalong Jake does mention very quickly spanking and yelling.
This song features a four lovey-lovey feel-good calming songs such as "Happy Birthday", "Blanketville", "Bedtime Round" and "Together Tomorrow".
The progression of songs starts off energetic with happy sing-along style and it wraps up with lullaby-type calm and quieter music. I advise listening to the sound snippets here on Amazon.com to see if this music is a style you are interested in.
Addendum: I saw Tom Chapin live with our family and we had a great time. The sound quality was excellent, just like on a CD. He and his bandmates interacted with the audience and illicited audience participation so it was much more than just listening to the songs exactly as he plays them on these recordings. Go see him live!
Horrible CD,.......2002-08-15
I bought this CD before I heard any of the lyrics. It looks like a happy CD and is marketed as a "Multiple Grammy Nominee" with titles like State Laughs and Bubblin' in the bath. But when I played the CD words like Stupid were used as well as advocating Spanking, and Whacking the children. All of this was convienantly wrapped up in jovial, snappy music. I am going to throw away this CD. I don't want my child listening to songs that advocate hitting him or using such negative words like stupid. This is a horrible CD.
If you are looking for positive, energetic, kind and gentle music for your child I'd suggest Raffi or The Wiggles instead of this deceptive CD.

A collection of material recorded between 1969 and 1972, the period just after Bitches Brew, Big Fun was not issued until 1974. By then, Davis had moved on in other directions, so it became a much-neglected album. The compositions are too scattered to maintain a focus, but there is much to hear within. For example, this was the album that introduced "Ife," a piece recorded during the On the Corner sessions. Built on the simplest of bass vamps and the skimpiest of melodies, it nonetheless was enough to incite Miles's playing. It stayed in his performance book for years, and turned up on other recordings, such as Dark Magus, Agharta, Pangaea, and In Concert. "Go Ahead, John," from the Jack Johnson period in 1970, has a sublimely nasty (and sonically infuriating) guitar solo from John McLaughlin. This digitally remastered edition of Big Fun also contains the bonus tracks "Recollection," "Trevere," "The Little Blue Frog," and "Yaphet" (all of which were also included on the recently issued Complete Bitches Brew Sessions, along with "Great Expectations," "Recollections," "Orange Lady," and "Lonely Fire"). --John F. Szwed

No, that cover's not suggestive at all! *COUGH*.......2007-07-08
I'm not big on fusion, but I can tell you that Big Fun is one of my favorite albums from the period, along with In a Silent Way. One of Miles' more misunderstood works, and I'm glad it was given such a good reissue.
The record starts off with Joe Zawinul's best song (at least his best song with Miles), Great Expectations. Recorded shortly after Bitches Brew, it's a two-part suite, the second half being the Weather Report classic Orange Lady. It's arguably the best song on the album: twenty-seven minutes, and I don't want it any shorter. I especially like the Indian instrumentation.
Next up is the slow, spacey, funky Ife, an outtake from the On the Corner sessions. I really wish Miles had decided to include it on that album, as it could have saved it from being a total disaster. Recollections (again coming from the period just after the Bitches Brew sessions) is next up, a moody Zawinul classic. This, along with three other songs (I'll get to those), can only be found on the CD version of Big Fun. It's a collector's item, but it's also a very good piece of music. Trevere (yet another Brew-era outtake, and again previously unreleased) follows this, and really it's the album's only bad point. I hate the stupid haunted-house organ.
Then it's back to the good stuff. Go Ahead John (the lone outtake from the Jack Johnson sessions found on this LP) is my other favorite here. It's like Hendrix, if Hendrix had collaborated with Miles (and he probably would have, had he lived longer - the two were friends, of course). Lots of heavy guitar on that song. I've heard it's supposed to be an embryonic take of Right Off, but I disagree: it doesn't have the dated-sounding organ that ruins the otherwise stellar composition, and there's no uncredited Sly Stone borrowings. One fine song!
Lonely Fire (once again coming from the post-Bitches Brew sessions) is another. One of Miles' signature pensive, haunting ballads; it reminds me of Brew's Sanctuary, only it's so much better.
The Little Blue Frog is from the same sessions as Lonely Fire and most the rest; a good funk-rocker, though it drifts a bit.
Yephet makes for still another standout performance; a ten-minute moody Indian funk song. Very good!
Oh, and the liner notes are worthwhile - very informative, good Bennie Maupin essay, and great photos! So listen closely, and have big fun.
Miles Ahead..........2007-03-15
This music is light years ahead of any Jazz that has been made since the time of its release to present day...the only other jazz artist to even venture out this far was Sun Ra. It can be said with confidence that the last great Jazz Giant was Miles. This is not to dismiss other great jazz artists during that time or since then, but all who come after are only disciples.
No one explored and pushed the music forward, in contemporary terms, more the Sir Miles. This is probably one of the best records of the so called "electric" period before he went on hiatus for 5 years. Stand out tracks is the beautiful "Lonely Fire" a deep probing track that is almost trance like and "Go Ahead John", which is sonically unique and a great example of what can be produced by free artistic expression.
Miles was also on the forefront of album cover artistry, being one of the first artists to demand to have black images on his records sleeves, which was unheard of up until the mid-60s. The Big Fun LP cover is one of my favorites, for obvious reasons.
Great Expectations.......2006-03-14
I first heard this in Lp format when I was about 19 years old. I dug it then and I dig it now (at 50 years of age) that it has been remastered in 24 bit format with additional material added. That alone says something about just how memorable the music on Big Fun really is. It's all great. At once quiet, introspective, moody, peaceful, relaxing, disturbing, and mind bending. The "knob twiddling" done to the mix for McLaughlin's solo on the track titled "Go Ahead John" is simultaneously irritating and enjoyable - how's that for wierd? Teo's fiddling around with the balance actually turns the space between the two speakers into a percussion object itself. Very interesting - but frustrating too. The sitars, tablas, tambura, odd percussion, McLaughlin's guitar, Maupin's bass clarinet, Zawinul's keyboards... it's all great. I can't say any more than this for a recommendation: I didn't hesitate to pay 24.95 for it! At over 140 minutes of great electric Miles it's a bargain. One of the all time favorites from my youth. Go for it, have some Big Fun!
funky electric Miles fusion music.......2005-12-04
I remember buying this ALBUM back when it came out in 1974, I was a teenager, trying to get into all different types of music, and I remember at the time that this CD was not well received or critically acclaimed, but I loved it. If you listen to it NOW, you will realize that it is great. Go Ahead John is the best cut on the CD, John McLaughlin fuzzes out on electric guitar, and it's fantastic (twenty eight and a half minutes of free form jazz, characterized by a psychedilic sound, you just KNOW these guys were high on something when they recorded this). All the songs are about twenty minutes long, and if you are into fusion music (I guess what they would today call "acid jazz", and remeber Miles created this genre all by himself), then you should get this CD along with all of the other Miles stuff from the early 70's. Let me correct what I wrote earlier. The song "Go Ahead John" features some unbelievable guitar riffs from John McLaughlin, but the thing to really listen to on this cut is the fantastic drumming by Jack DeJohnette. If you could play like that, you would be one of the greatest drummers in the world.....
Excellent Electric Miles.......2004-05-07
This is a must for anyone who is into Electric Miles - Go Ahead John is a must for any McLaughlin fan and is worth the price alone. Put on your headphones and enter a forgotten world.

Big Fun from Shalamar is just that!.......2002-12-24
This photogenic trio of teen idols made some awesome records. Their music was bubbly and infectious, oozing catching hooks and strong melodies. "Big Fun" was the third album and the first by the lineup we all LOVE - Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniel, and the one and only Miss Jody Watley. While it sounds a bit dated in spots, the album's appeal lies in the way it gels. The tracks are a seamless blend of sleek disco, soul and funk, ranging from the slinky and playful "Take Me to the River" to the sexy, slamming "Right in the Socket." The latter features a young Watley working it out, and only hints at the bigger things that came later for her. The only thing that could be better would have been the inclusion of the oringial album mix. The first verse is altogether omitted. (Those dedicated Shalamar fans know what I'm talking about - "Blackouts don't mean a thing to me..." and you know the rest.) Nonetheless, it's still 7 minutes of dance floor delight. The obvious pearl here is the full-length version of "Second Time Around," Shalamar's best best single. This song is still hypnotic over two decades later. Howard's interpretation makes you believe it really is better "the second time around." This excellent album has some filler here and there, but overall it's a great listen that is appealing as a whole. This is the best place to start for anyone interested in Shalamar.
Where The Fun All Started.......2002-02-13
After two moderately successful albums, Solar's infamous three and producing genius Leon Sylvers, III generates pure magic and together creates one of the best brilliant albums ever made. Now with new member, velvet-voice soul crooner Howard Hewett, the group gets off to a fast start with the mega dance classics "Right in the Socket" and "I Owe You One." Success continues to follow as the group attain their first gold disc and single with the lone R&B chartopper and Top 10 hit, the ever popular "Second Time Around." Another music treat capturing one of R&B's greatest sensations at their best.
Yeah! I really love those days........1999-08-17
The full version of 'The 2nd Time Around' should get credits for the rated 5stars. With co of 'Right In The Socket' there's no doubt about it this is one of ten disco classics. Shalamar and Solar at its best.

Let me take you to a place I know that I know you'll want to go .......2006-08-28
when this album came out I was hypnotized by the song good life and to this day consider it to be in the top three of favorite songs. This is the type of music a house party has to have in order to a real house party.Big Fun.
Prance Ladies, Prance!.......2005-10-02
When this album first came out, I was only twenty-two and the club scene was my life. "Big Fun" and "Paradise" were staples every single night. In fact, one night the DJ played tracks 1-10 all the way through and NOBODY left the dance floor. This album was just that popular. My own copy was lost in a move and I thought Inner City would be a thing of the past.
At a friend's 40th birthday party this year, all of a sudden "Ain't Nobody Better" was played. Let me tell you, these dinosaurs (including myself) got their carcasses up and began flailing themselves about as if it was 1989 all over again. I had to find this album.
There is not one single disappointing track. "The Power of Passion" may be a bit much, however, it's better than any Trance song ever forced on the unsuspecting public. "Do You Love What You Feel" to me is the best on this imcomparable CD. "Big Fun" and "Good Life" just dare you to keep sitting down without wanting to walk the runway. It's hard to believe that only two people made this classic.
Dance music today is soooo ordinary. If you want a reason to dance buy this CD! THIS is what dance music is supposed to be!
big fun, i know someone else said it, but it's the bomb.......2005-09-13
hi,
great to see others wrote reviews, though an old album, it's appeal seems timeless. i haven't listened to this cd in years now, and i put it in to drive to and WOOOOOOOO, i forgot the connection i made in my mind when i first heard them, and still kinda hear (though it's a reverse comparison), it would be, don't get angry, dee-lite(shh did he? oh my? how dare you!), this in the sense that dee-lite in essence were an electronic soul dance group, that ventured into breakbeats, trance, dnb, but in the beginning on world clique some of the ambitions heard THERE can be heard realized HERE.
great sound, good to drive to, her voice is more soulful than usually heard on electronic dance albums, it adds ummmppphhh.
We're Having Big Fun!.......2004-10-29
What a team - Paris Grey and Kevin Saunderson! Paris had been on the Chicago circuit for a while. When "Big Fun" was spotted as background music for a TV commercial those of us who were househeads went berserk! The whole album is a treat. Track one lays the foundation of original Detroit Techno: the coming together of all people and the preservation of the inner city (by the way, that same theme was reflected in some earlier Chicago records) Track four is a really interesting tune especially being of a slower tempo. Track six is a definite favorite, as it is such a "happy" tune. Track seven is basically a Chicago favorite that dominated the college radio stations. My absolute favorite track is the last one. "Secrets Of The Mind" is very hypnotic and it has the subtle Chicago flavor mixed with the upfront Detroit industrial sound. This is an album you can trust!
