Sailing Around the World
Editorial Reviews

The Wiggles must have gotten it in their heads that all play and no work makes for a bunch of dull Aussie boys. How else to explain Sailing Around the World, which skimps on rudderless, ridiculous good fun in favor of a bunch of two-minute geography lessons? Where once the blokes good-naturedly shook their sillies out and sung the humble praises of fruit salad, they now find themselves compelled to drag preschoolers across the globe when most of them would be happier doing the "Numbers Rhumba" in front of their TV sets.Questioning the wisdom of the band's decision to explore its academic side wouldn't seem as important if the songs on this disc were catchier, but Jeff, Murray, Greg and Anthony's stroll through "London Town" has about as much personality as the Queen Mother; hula-hula-hula-ing across Hawaii ("Honolulu") calls for a crazy tempo that never kicks in; and pondering the spectacle of the Parthenon while Greek music plays seems unlikely to appeal to anybody still in Pampers. Only when the barrel is rolled out for "The Barrel Polka" do we want to stick around for the rest of the tour, but by then it's too late. Captain Feathersword, at the helm, high-tails it to the end of this uncharacteristically uninspired disc three songs later. --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Reviews:
A wonderful album that is entertaining for the family.......2006-07-03
Personally, I love much of the Wiggle's music. Although it is not RUSH or Godsmack, it is well written and melodic in many ways. There are a few songs that are beautiful. This album is great and I don't mind listening to it over and over and over and over again per my Son's request. I would recommend this CD as something both adults and kids can enjoy.
Gets better and better!.......2006-03-25
These songs are a little more "grown up" than some of the Wiggles' previous simple songs but they are still catchy, appealing and fun for all three of my kids. My 1,6, 8 year old and myself love this CD more and more as we listen to it. "The Captain's Wavy Walk" and "Hula Hula Hula" are our favorites. Definitely worth the money if you are a Wiggles fan.
:) I LOVE IT!!!.......2005-08-06
My little sister, Rhiannon, is a big Wiggles fan and I CERTAINLY want my mom to get this DVD. I believe the songs can teach us about places around the world. The Wiggles are really fun. My sister told me about them, and besides, I've seen a Wiggles episode when I was in a restaurant in Flatonia. So much fun! I guarantee you'll love this DVD as much as I do!
NOT ONE CATCHY TUNE. AT LEAST NOT AT FIRST.......2005-07-08
I'm sorry to tell you this folks, but I found this CD to be a very big disappointment.I know what I'm talking about. I own nine other Wiggles CDs and this by far is the worst one.Or should I say this is the bad one.I'm on my fifth listen.Just trying to see if any songs grow on me.Don't expect any rockin tunes in the style of PLAY YOUR GUITAR WITH MURRAY or the fist shaking TOOT TOOT CHUGGA CHUGGA BIG RED CAR or any of the other types of toe tapping songs that have made The Wiggles popular with so many parents.Nor are there any geared directly toward children songs that match ROCK-A-BYE YOUR BEAR.There's not even any kind of eye watering ballads in the vein of I LOVE IT WHEN IT RAINS or THE GYPSY ROVER.Just a bunch of bad songs. Half of them are boring and the other half are embarrassing.Usually the name or names next to a song is called writing credits. In this case it can only be called writing blame. It sounds more like a Doodlebops album instead of Wiggles album.I'll proudly blast GO CAPTAIN FEATHERSWORD AHOY!in heavy traffic. But I won't go above barely audible at cruising speed on the highway with this disc. The Wiggles have given us a decade and a half a wonderful music.I HOPE THIS ISN'T THEIR SWAN SONG.For those that do not know, SWAN SONG is the last thing you do.The title track seems to be the best of the bunch. The polka remakes are reasonable, but not as entertaining as HOOP DEE DOO. ELBOW TO ELBOW, GOLDFISH,and MOP MOP sound very Doodleboppy. In fact too Doodleboppy. If you want to get this disc go right ahead.BUT DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.
