Country crooner Collin Raye's Counting Sheep is for a much wider audience than his fans; brightly engaging to both old and young ears, this delightful children's recording is sure to be a hit with parents of all musical affiliations. Gathering up a set of both originals and standards, Counting Sheep ranges from the kiddie-pop magic of the title track to a rendition of the Beatles' "Blackbird," Irish traditional lullaby "Too Ra Loo Ta Loo Ral," and, from the children's classic canon, "When You Wish Upon a Star." Gentle strings sweep up against tickling piano and acoustic guitar and vibes tinkle and chime. A wonderful mix of fun and touching music for kids and adults!.......2007-01-21

I am a huge Collin Raye fan, and if you are too, you MUST have this album. For those of you unfamiliar with Collin, he is a country singer, but not of the "twangy" type-- just known for great lyrics and a wonderful voice. I bought this album for my 9 month old daughter for Christmas, and we love listening to it. We dance to "I'm Gonna Love You Forever"-- what fun lyrics! "Cool Cat" gets kids thinking how cool it is to get ready for bed at night because "A cool cat knows how to settle down." :) Then there is A Mother's and Father's Prayer, which will bring a tear to any parent's eye! Overall, this is a fabulous album and my only regret is that there aren't MORE songs on it!

I first heard the title song on the kids cable music channel. I first thought it was Sting. I had never heard of Collin Raye. I got the album and can't stop listening to it. "I'm gonna love you" is so catchy and wonderful. I am going to buy this over and over again for every mom I know. "A mother and Father's prayer" will bring tears to your eyes.

Absolutely AWESOME. My daughter luls off to it and I relax with a cup of tea to it. If anyone can do it..I knew COLLIN COULD.

One of the best kids cd's ever........2001-12-12

My daughter is 3 and still falls fast asleep to this. I even like to listen to it.
It is about time someone did lullibyes some justice. IF ANYONE COULD DO IT, IT WAS COLLIN.

Not exactly lullabies.......2001-11-13

I bought this for my niece, who has trouble settling down for naps and nighty-night. I expected this to be "sleepytime" music, and bought it for that purpose, so I was a little surprised when the first track was more like a toddler dance-time tune. But once I got past my initial shock, I found I really enjoyed this CD. I own several of Raye's country CDs, and have always loved his beautiful, rich voice, but this CD shows a whole new side of his ability. You will swear that "Blackbird" is being sung by a slightly twangy McCartney. Just gorgeous.

Collin Raye's Message To Children.......2000-08-27

I enjoy Collin Raye's music because it is always upbeat and contains a sincere message. This clean, wholesome CD that he dedicated to the little ones in his life has something for everyone. The children will relate to the fun filled lyrics of "Counting Sheep and I'm Gonna Love You". " When You Wish Upon A Star and Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral" are songs that will bring back memories for adults of their childhood and quieter times. His music is inspirational and says the things most of us want to share with our children and grandchildren. I will be passing this CD on to my own grandchildren to tell them how much they are loved and valued. I hope Collin Raye keeps releasing this quality of CD and reminding all of us that loving God and each other is a very important part of our lives.

Sleep is a most precious treasure and many of us do know how difficult it is to find enough peace of mind to gradually slip into the magical kingdom of dreams. The idea for this recording comes from the oldest method mankind has imagined to get to sleep: counting sheep...

We are not only providing the sheep themselves, but the whole meadow as well, including crickets and the natural setting of a gentle stream. Just lie down, peacefully and let your mind go free. Make no effort whatsoever, just relax and rest.

34 tracks were required to create this realistic 3.D Sound Landscape*. It will allow you, when listening carefully, a unique and natural experience. It is not enough to put a simple microphone in a field or a forest to record the various sounds around as it is usually done on most of the CDs in stores. Everything has been meticulously orchestrated to recreate the full spectrum of sounds of a real meadow. Your ears will make you "see" the peaceful pasture and the gentle stream, the sheep and the crickets. You will immediately feel where they are in their natural environment. As for the music, we have asked a classically trained composer, Robert Lafond, not to compose music and melodies but to create a musical score that blends itself with the natural soundscape, thus avoiding the over invading music usually found on the so-called new age recordings...
