Four Seasons: Autumnsongs
Editorial Reviews
From Parents' Choice®
This new addition to acclaimed folk/pop singer McCutcheon's Four Season series of recordings may be his best yet,a vivid child's-eye portrait of the touchstones of the waning year and of moments that can loom large in a child's life. In rich fall colors, McCutcheon, and the fine musicians who accompany him, paint word pictures on big and small canvasses. Some songs are celebratory ("It's Fall," full of sunsets, rustling leaves and pumpkin pie; the soulful "Thanksgiving," and "Campfire," a tribute to outdoor gastronomic delights). Some are painfully true ("New Kid in School"--"I'm the new kid in a new school, The first day is a hundred hours long") and some are comically real ("Natural Disaster," an older sibling's lament about a mischief-making little sister). Then, there are exquisite moments of the heart, such as "Colors," filled with autumn's revelatory burst of rainbow colors; and "Bird Dog," in which a faithful canine lovingly explains why he chooses not to harm his feathered friends." A 1998 Parents' Choice® Gold Award.

Customer Reviews:
"Autumn" makes great music........2001-04-06
John McCutcheon is a national treasure. Maybe not all that well known, but a national treasure nonetheless. Listen to just one of his albums and you will understand. Take AUTUMN for instance. Part of his 'Four Seasons' series, AUTUMN celebrates all the splendor, fears, and joy that come with the season. Some of the songs are funny ("Natural Disaster") and some are serious ("Si Se Puede"), but most are just good songs celebrating one of the seasons of life. This is a wonderful album that the entire family can enjoy.
More Outstanding Family Music From John.......1998-12-31
John McCutcheon's music is inspiring, uplifting, creative, and just plain fun. Nothing captures the seasons quite like the albums in this series. "The Pumpkin Man" is one of my kids' favorite songs, and "Campfire" really gets us dancing! "Si Se Puede" is a wonderful song honoring Cesar Chavez and "Thanksgiving" is a song we played on Thanksgiving and intend to play every year. John's music is such a treasure, for adults as well as kids. Here is an album that parents will enjoy as much as their kids. Great musicianship as well. Fantastic effort!
