The stuff that gives kids' music a bad name........2007-01-01
ACompilation of many old favorites a annoyingly sung. After less than half way through one side, I had to stop. The adult singers are awful; words are changed to no good effect. I've got a pretty high tolerance for kid music, but this stank!
A great collection of favorites.......2006-05-04
This set has all the songs kids love and more! As a preschool teacher I know which songs get the kids going and they are all in this collection. There are a variety of voices including kids and the music is upbeat and fun for adults who have heard the same songs a million times!
I bought this for my 6-week old daughter but so far her grandma I are enjoying it more than she is!
great value.......2006-03-21
I think this is an excellent collection -- four full CDs of music for a great price. You can always trust the people at Music for Little People to put a lot of thought and talent into their recordings. New twists on old favorites make this collection loads for fun for both children and adults. I love the variety of musical genres and the people singing are obviously having a great time. The third and fourth CDs are the favorites in our family -- number 3 is the Play collection including a great jump rope melody and a new one for me, "Pick a Bale O'Cotton" which is a perfect song for clean-up time. Number 4 is Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies, also includes tongue twisters (and a great voice comes out of the speaker blowing a trumpet and proclaiming "it's tongue twister time!"). The lullaby collection is short but sweet (8 songs) and is guaranteed to put my kids to sleep by "All the Pretty Little Horses".
I love that I have a whole new range of kid songs in my repertoire -- and was able to re-discover some old favorites. Like lots of moms, I'm thinking I don't know a lot of songs to sing but as I heard these CDs I kept saying, oh I know that one. and after a few repetitions, I feel comfortable belting them out on my own. Remember "Clementine," "Tisket a Tasket," "This Little Light of Mine," or "Muffin Man"? I love that I can read a collection of childrens rhymes and verses and have a tune associated with them -- when I read "Old Roger" in Looking Forward by Molly von Heider, I immediately knew what song she was talking about. I think this CD set is a wonderful buy. You'll get a lot of use out of it.
not our cup of tea.......2006-03-20
we were disappointed with this cd. overacting by the adults on many of the songs. they insist on making a song their own and many times louse it up. no real child like quality - the message seemed to be 'listen to my funny accent, my unique interpretation of this song'. too many sound effects.
I had to buy it :-).......2006-02-06
oh, good gawd, what I have I done?!
I picked up this CD yesterday (4 CDs, actually) of 100 Toddler Favorites.
Arrrrggghhh! I'm listening to it now on the computer.
But ya know, we really needed something like this. my daughter loves music and while she was sick recently, especially on the plane, it really calmed her for me to sing to her, but I hardly know/remember any of the songs that are the traditional favorites.
I'm sure once she hears this, she will constantly want me to play it. It's not too bad, not too cheesy. I like that it does NOT use an electronic piano, it's real instruments, etc.
I like the new songs (more funky) by Laurie Berkner and TMBGs, etc, but they sing the traditional songs in Toddler class, etc., so it was inevitable that I got her these CDs. This CD set even has just speaking rhymes, like Little Piggy, Jack and Jill, etc. Some of these I wasn't sure of the exact words when I first started doing them with my daughter (who is 2.5 now), so I had to look on-line for the lyrics.
I'll update if for some reason she hates it, but I doubt it. Four stars because I kind of wish it had a more contemporary sound and style to it, but then I don't think my daughter would like it as well because it would not sound like when they sing in class.
